3 Friends Followed Mysterious Clues to Find $10,000 Worth of Buried Treasure in San Francisco
Three friends in San Francisco followed mysterious clues to find $10,000 worth of buried treasure in a local nature preserve
The clues — which were shared in the form of a rhyming riddle — were posted on Reddit by a team of anonymous treasure enthusiasts
The treasure entailed cash, valuable metal coins and rare baseball cardsThree friends recently followed mysterious clues to $10,000 worth of buried treasure in San Francisco.
Austin Theriault, TJ Lee and Erik Bahri saw a cryptic message posted by an anonymous team of treasure-hunting enthusiasts on Reddit on Tuesday, May 13, per NPR.
'Five weeks ago, we buried a $10,000 treasure chest somewhere in San Francisco,' the Reddit post began. The treasure hunt creators then shared four limerick-like rhyming clues, along with several photos of the treasure, which entailed cash, valuable coins and rare baseball cards.
Theriault told NPR that he and his friends, who all work in tech, discussed the clues all day, and ultimately found the treasure buried under a bush in Mount Sutro Open Space Reserve after about an hour of physically searching.

"It's validating to be like, 'I know San Francisco well enough' that we were able to find this in the first spot we checked,' he told the outlet.
"The organizers did this as a bit of a love letter to the city," Lee added, while also speaking to NPR. "And so it's gratifying to know, at least for me, that someone who loves the city as much as the organizers was able to find the treasure."
The friends shared photos of the treasure, which was sealed in a metal box, in a comment on the original Reddit post.

The hunt organizers posted an update on Reddit on Wednesday, May 14, in which they shared that the treasure had been found in 'a mere 11 hours,' which was 'a lot faster than anyone anticipated.'
While the hunt organizers wish to remain anonymous, they did confirm to NPR that they are a team of two people. They added that they were inspired to create the whimsical experience by movies like The Goonies, Raiders of the Lost Ark and a few real-life stories.
They also revealed that they funded the adventure themselves using 'a non-insignificant amount of savings.'
"It comes from a place of really wanting to do this,' one of the hunt creators told NPR. 'And if we could afford a hundred thousand dollars or a million, we would. Ten thousand dollars felt like the bare minimum entry to say: This is treasure. This is compelling. There's really something out there that's worth pursuing."
The hunt creators say they would love to organize another treasure hunt at some point, and encouraged any 'deep-pocketed collaborators' to reach out if interested, per a statement on a website they created dedicated to the hunt.

'Ferris Bueller' star Mia Sara returns to red carpet for 1st movie in 14 years
Mia Sara is back on the big screen. The actress, best known for her roles in 1985's "Legend" and the 1986 classic "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," made a rare red carpet appearance Monday at the Los Angeles premiere of "The Life of Chuck," marking her first film role in 14 years. At the event, Sara, who last appeared on the big screen in 2011's " Dorothy and the Witches of Oz," posed alongside director Mike Flanagan and co-stars Tom Hiddleston, Benjamin Pajak, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mark Hamill, Kate Siegel, Karen Gillan, Carl Lumbly and Annalise Basso, among others. In "The Life of Chuck," Sara plays Sarah Krantz, the grandmother to Hiddleston's character, Charles "Chuck" Krantz. The film follows Charles' life story in reverse-chronological order. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Sara admitted returning to the spotlight felt "a little daunting," adding, "But I'm very grateful! It's unexpected." She told People she was inspired to come out of retirement specifically to work with Flanagan. "We've been such fans, and we met socially, he and the magnificent Kate Siegel, and he just said, 'Well, don't you ever really want to work again?'" Sara shared. "And I said, 'Oh, I don't know.' He said, 'Well, what if I offered you something?' I said, 'Well, okay, if you offer me something, I'll do it.'" As for life off-screen, Sara revealed that she now lives in a 17th-century farmhouse in England with her husband Brian Henson, the son of puppeteer and Muppets creator Jim Henson. Her life routine includes riding horses, reading crime novels and cooking, she said. When asked if more roles are in her future, Sara kept it simple, telling People, "Honestly, it really was all about Mike. If Mike needs me, I'll be there." "The Life of Chuck" opens in select theaters June 6 and nationwide on June 13.

MasterChef fans left stunned after 'unwatchable' moment: 'Hideous'
MasterChef Australia is one of the most beloved shows in the country thanks to its wholesome vibes, which greatly differs from much of the rest of the Australian reality TV landscape. However, it seems as though its overseas counterparts are not similar at all. One MasterChef viewer took to Reddit to start a conversation over the difference between the Australian version and the Canadian version of the show. They wrote, "I [haven't] watched any episode of Masterchef Canada. A random video just came to my feed. The judges [seem much too rough] with the contestants." In the video, one judge yells at a contestant, "Is this a joke? This is MasterChef Canada, and you give me this?" RELATED: MasterChef viewers convinced 2025 winner has been spoiled MasterChef viewers declare 'worst episode of the season' after bizarre moment MasterChef fans point out major reason this season is 'the least popular' Another judge spits out food in front of the contestant, telling them their dish is "very fishy in an unpleasant way". The same judge asks another person what their dish is called, and they respond, "I call these 'I really wanna stay fish cakes,' man." And the judge responds, "These look like 'I'll watch the show from my couch fish cakes,'" leaving the contestant with a stunned look on their face. Elsewhere, the judges called out "disastrous dishes", leading one contestant to say, "My heart just cramps up, my heart sinks, I don't know what to think." MasterChef Australia contestants shared their shock at the clip, with one person writing, "That is why I only watch Australia. Nice judges and nice contestants. No shouting and no chest thumping." "Other than [Australian version], most of the Masterchef judges are strict I would say," another said. A third agreed, saying, "Yeah, most of the other versions overdramatise the judging, and encourage the judges to be total d**ks." The person then shared examples: "MasterChef US: 'Holy s**t, this is horrible, and your dead mother would be ashamed at the way you've butchered her recipe.' Tosses plate across the room. "MasterChef AU: 'Well, you're asparagus is pretty on point, and I liked the use of saffron, but you've got to be more careful about your seasoning and you're cooking times, this definitely wasn't your best.' Gives crying contestant a hug." They added, "It's why I only watch the Australian version anymore." "The US version is just as hideous if not worse," someone else said. "Honestly unwatchable. Again, the Australians have made this programme the best version possible." "Yeah, I'm in Canada and I love that Mr. Husband generously gives us the Australian feed because it's so wholesome," another added. "The Canadian version is so mean. The judges are mean and they push the contestants to fight against each other. There's a lot of bullying." "The judges on Masterchef AU are genuinely some of the kindest," one person said. "Even when a dish doesn't turn out well, they still manage to give feedback in such a polite and empathetic way. And it's not just the current set of judges, even in the earlier seasons, they always maintained that warmth and encouragement. From this clip, the judges come across so blunt and rude. I get that the presentation might be lacking in some dishes, but the way the criticism is delivered its just feels unnecessarily harsh. And honestly, it makes the whole viewing experience feel tense rather than enjoyable. I don't think I will ever enjoy watching this Masterchef Canada, it just takes the joy out of it." "If you think of it in terms of how Gordon Ramsay went from Hell's Kitchen directly to Masterchef, you can kinda see how they carried over the same formula of drama being more important than anything else. North American Masterchef is the audience laughing AT the contestants, that's the whole point. They treat it like some kind of zoo and it has zero substance and is horrible to watch." Others said they would want to watch the Canadian version "at all" and that the Canadian version is simply copying the American version which "drums up the nastiness and drama".

Where Taylor Swift and Blake Lively's Friendship Stands After Justin Baldoni Dropped Subpoena Against Singer (Exclusive Source)
Taylor Swift and Blake Lively's friendship dates back to 2015 The pair's friendship has been strained since the singer was dragged into the Justin Baldoni legal drama Lively filed a complaint against her 'It Ends With Us' director and co-star in December 2024Taylor Swift and Blake Lively have made progress in their relationship. The pop superstar, 35, and the actress are working towards being "on good terms," but "their friendship isn't the same as it was before," a source tells PEOPLE exclusively. Swift and Lively, 37, 'aren't as close and haven't been spending as much time together as they did in the past.' The Grammy winner was dragged into the Gossip Girl alum's ongoing legal battle with her It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni. PEOPLE previously reported that Swift and Lively rekindled their friendship in April after the 'Fortnight' singer distanced herself from the actress. According to the insider, 'Taylor is working to trust Blake again but it's going to take some time.' The twosome's friendship dates back to 2015 after Lively shared a photo from a L'Oréal campaign, which referenced Swift's 'Bad Blood' music video. It caught Swift's attention, and the pair began spending time together. In December 2024, Lively filed a complaint against Baldoni, 41, alleging that he sexually harassed her on the set of their film adapted from the Colleen Hoover novel of the same name. She further accused him of trying to 'destroy' her reputation with a calculated smear campaign, which was detailed in a New York Times article titled, "'We Can Bury Anyone': Inside a Hollywood Smear Machine." Less than two weeks later, she filed a formal lawsuit against the Jane the Virgin alum, accusing him of sexual harassment, breach of contract, infliction of emotional distress and invasion of privacy. However, Baldoni denied all her accusations and filed his own $400 million defamation and extortion lawsuit against Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and their PR team. In Baldoni's countersuit, he claimed Swift was present at a meeting that took place at Lively's New York City penthouse, where he and the actress allegedly met to go over her rewrite of their movie's rooftop scene. Baldoni claimed that during their meeting, Lively attempted to intimidate him by using her relationships with Reynolds and Swift, calling them 'absolute titans' as writers and storytellers. He claimed she further said, 'I'm so lucky to have them as creative barometers,' and they are her 'dragons' who protect her in her battles. Baldoni suggested that Lively was referring to Swift when he texted the actress about her script revisions, writing, 'I really love what you did. It really does [help] a lot. Makes it so much more fun and interesting. (And I would have felt that way without Ryan and Taylor).' The trial for Lively v. Wayfarer Studios et al., which will cover both lawsuits, is scheduled for March 2026. Read the original article on People
