and Brighton are following highly rated attacking midfielder Rodolfo Aloko from Croatian side NK Kustosija.
The athletic 18-year-old was called up to the national team of Benin last month to make his debut against Morocco and is already drawing attention from the likes of Sevilla, Eintracht Frankfurt and Red Bull Leipzig.
Kustosija, based in Zagreb, are forging a strong reputation for finding promising young talents, developing them and selling on at a profit.
They have just agreed to sell coveted 18-year-old midfielder Lovro Chelfi to Barcelona - a player who had attracted interest from Arsenal and Liverpool - and, previously, sold defender Mika Faye, now at Rennes, also to Barcelona.
MLS side Charlotte also snapped up their 16-year-old striker Leo Bartolovic for £450,000 and 18-year-old Malian midfielder Baye Coulibaly followed the same path for £1.5million plus a 25 per cent sell-on.
Another teenage striker Dino Klapija, a target for Arsenal and Manchester United, joined Leipzig for £4.5m.
Kustosija are now willing to repeat the process with Aloko.
They want around £4.75m for Aloko, who has impressed scouts previously while playing for Benin U20s, and believe his pace and power make him well suited to the Premier League.
Villa and Brighton both have a similar reputation for finding young talents to develop and Aloko is on their radar.
Mail Sport's TRANSFER CONFIDENTIAL column reported on Tuesday that Brighton's Adam Webster had previously been of interest to Everton, but now that Michael Keane has signed a new deal, a £10m deal will likely not happen.
The Toffees are also keen on a move for Scotland international midfielder John McGinn, though that deal is viewed as remote.

England going head-to-head with women's highest-paid footballer in Euro 2025 final

England are taking on Spain in the Women's Euro final, with the current European champions and the best in the world facing off for the prestigious trophy England will have to contend with the highest-paid female footballer if they are to retain their Women's Euro trophy this year. The Lionesses are set to do battle with Spain in the final of the tournament, with a chance to create history as the first English side to defend a major international honour successfully. ‌ However, the Spaniards - who defeated England 1-0 to win the World Cup two years ago - stand in their way, and they have a pretty expensive weapon at their disposal. Aitana Bonmati is one of Spain's key players and is the sole reason the world champions are in the final in the first place. ‌ The Barcelona playmaker stunned Germany with a swerving strike in the 113th minute of the semi-final to send her country to their first-ever Euro final last week. ‌ The midfielder - who contracted viral meningitis before the tournament began - has been an extremely important star in the competition. Bonmati has scored and assisted once in five matches to help Spain to within 90 minutes of their ultimate goal. Bonmati is widely report to the highest-paid female footballer right now - and eveidently, for good reason. The Barcelona star is said to pocked a whopping £835,000 weekly wage, which is over a quarter of a million more than her nearest competition. Alexia Putellas, who also plays for Barcelona and Spain, earns the second-most with £584,000 - and England's biggest earner is fifth on the list, with Keira Walsh raking in £382,000 per annum. ‌ Bonmati is a highly decorated footballer, with six Primera Division league titles, three Champions Leagues, seven Copa de la Reina wins and five Supercopa de España triumphs. Individually, the 27-year-old has been named the Best FIFA Women's player on two occasions and has also won the Ballon d'Or Féminin twice, in 2023 and 2024. ‌ The midfielder is also a current world champion and Nations League holder with Spain and hopes to add to her international honours with a European Championship win. However, the Lionesses will be aiming to retain their Euros trophy and may have their own secret weapon. Both Lucy Bronze and the aforementioned Walsh played alongside Bonmati and a host of other Spanish players when they both starred for Barcelona, potentially giving them some insider information about their rivals' dangerwomen. Spain and England have both had to show mettle in the latter stages of the tournmanet, with Sarina Wiegman's team requiring a penalty shootout to get past Sweden in the quarter-final and an injury-time equaliser and extra-time winning penalty in their semi-final win over Italy. Meanwhile, Bonmati herself sent Spain to the final with a strike in extra-time against Germany last week, and may well be the hero once again for her country - although the Lionesses will hope that is not the case.

Barcelona boss explains why Marcus Rashford was given 'biggest humiliation' on debut

Marcus Rashford has joined his new Barcelona team-mates on their pre-season tour of Asia and the Manchester United loanee made his first appearance against Japanese side Vissel Kobe They say it is the biggest humiliation a footballer can experience: being a substitute that, after getting on the pitch, is then subbed off. So why did Hansi Flick bring on Marcus Rashford for 30 minutes on his Barcelona debut - and then take him off again? ‌ Rashford, 27, appeared for the first since completing his season-long loan move from Manchester United in midweek, ending his exile at Old Trafford. The forward's transfer - which includes a £26million option to buy - was finalised in time for him to fly to Japan with the rest of Barca's squad, as they embark on a pre-season tour of Asia. First up was a clash with Japanese side Vissel Kobe in a friendly match which was initially suspended before organisers scrambled to make it happen. ‌ Rashford was named on the bench by Flick before the German changed his entire line-up at half-time. The United loanee showed promise during his 30-minute cameo, notably playing a crucial role when fellow new signing Roony Bardghji got on the scoresheet in Barcelona's 3-1 win. ‌ After defender Jofre Torrents won back possession on the left, Rashford collected the ball and played a perfectly-weighted pass through to Robert Lewandowski. Barca's No.9 then picked out Bardghji on the right, as the former Copenhagen hotshot produced an impressive first-time finish. Seconds later, Rashford was brought off. The England international and Torrents were replaced by Gerard Martin and Pedro Fernandez, scorer of Barcelona's third goal, in the 77th minute. Post-match, Flick was asked about his decision to haul both Rashford and Torrents off after half an hour each. ‌ "Rashford hasn't played that much, and we also wanted to give Gerard Martin 15 minutes because he was playing after his injury," the Barcelona manager explained. Which, obviously, makes perfect sense for a player who, just seven days ago, was a member of Manchester United's 'bomb squad' training alone and made to use the club's Carrington training ground when the first-team squad had gone home. For Flick, these early days are about getting Rashford up to speed, slowly but surely, helping him adjust to what he wants. Do it correctly, and it's another match winner among Barca's collection of stars. Subbing him on and then off in a pre-season friendly? Not a problem for the manager nor his new player. ‌ Flick was a 'key' reason why Rashford joined the La Liga champions, having led Barcelona to three trophies in his first season. "He was another key factor for me to join Barca," the 27-year-old revealed during his unveiling. "The conversations I had with him were very positive. He has proven to be one of the top coaches... He led a young team to such a successful season and has returned to the preseason wanting more." ‌ Rashford's team-mates are already looking forward to playing alongside him. "Rashford is a very talented player," Lewandowski told reporters in Japan. "We played Manchester United two years ago and he was in great form. He can help us and is able to play in different positions." Next up for Barca is a friendly against Seoul in the South Korean capital on Thursday. Rashford will have a reunion with ex-United team-mate Jesse Lingard, who captains the K-League giants.

Marcus Rashford made his debut for Barcelona in a 3-1 friendly victory against Vissel Kobe in Japan. The 27-year-old, on a season-long loan from Manchester United, was introduced at half-time and played until the 78th minute. During his first appearance for Hansi Flick's side, Rashford had an effort saved. Barcelona's goals were scored by Eric Garcia, Roony Bardghji, and academy player Pedro Fernandez. Spain star Lamine Yamal was presented with Barcelona's famous number 10 shirt before the match.
