Peppa Pig fans left reeling after learning iconic character's real name

Daily Mirror28-04-2025

As the excitement builds for the birth of Peppa Pig's baby sister, news has reached fans that the creature is using her middle name - and her full title has caused a stir!
Peppa Pig fans still coming to terms with the imminent arrival of the hog's baby sister have been left stunned after discovering the star's real name.
The animated show, which has told the story of Peppa, who lives with Daddy Pig, Mummy Pig, and her little brother George for more than two decades, announced the pregnancy in February and last week a gender reveal confirmed a baby sister will be joining the family.

As if that wasn't enough, the iconic character's actual name has just come to light - and some fans are struggling to get their heads around it all. Adding some spice to the cartoon, Good Find Toys have revealed her fully name is actually Pepperius Peppa Pig - and we're really not too sure what to think.

The news found its way onto X and one person wrote: "Peppa Pig's real name being Pepperius Peppa Pig is making me scream!'" Another needed to hear it more than once, saying: "DID YOU KNOW "Peppa" is Peppa Pig's middle name and her full name is Pepperius Peppa Pig': 'Do you know Peppa Pig's real name? it's actually Papperius Peppa Pig!': 'Peppa Pigs full name is Pepperius Peppa Pig. You learn something new every day."
Last Friday things turned a little weird as the Battersea Power Station chimneys in London will be lit up in pink to show that Mummy Pig is expecting a baby girl. A third child in the series was already covered in a pregnancy-themed episode, coinciding with Mother's Day in March.
Viewers can expect to see the new baby on screen in the autumn, but some could be in for a treat before then. The animated show announced that Peppa Meets The Baby, an hour-long format will come out on May 30. The song-filled screening features 10 brand-new episodes, as Peppa and George prepare for the arrival of their baby sister. The Peppa Pig store at the power station, turned shopping mall and accommodation complex, is fundraising in support of NCT (National Children's Trust) the UK's leading charity for pregnancy and parents on Friday.
The charity is partnered with Peppa Pig in the UK. The gender reveal episode will air on YouTube on May 3 as part of the Peppa Pig Tales series. Peppa Pig began in 2004 on Channel 5 Milkshake and Nick Jr, and has been a global success with theme parks in the UK and elsewhere. The show has been broadcast in over 40 languages and is available in more than 180 territories.
Co-created by Neville Astley and Mark Baker, from animation studio Astley Baker Davies, the series has has also featured on collectable Royal Mail stamps. It was acquired by toy company Hasbro in 2019 as part of its purchase of Entertainment One's brands.

Peppa Pig writer reveals new career move following the iconic cartoon family welcoming baby piglet Evie

Peppa Pig writer Matilda Tristram is set to launch a new animated series, following the iconic cartoon family welcoming baby piglet Evie. The author and illustrator will be bringing Lucy Cousins' classic pre- school book series My Friend Maisy to life for Sky Kids and will hit screens next year. Beloved mouse Maisy along with pals Tallulah, Eddie, Charley and Cyril, had their first adventure published in 1990 and they have appeared in 47 books, with a previous animated series airing on CITV in 1999. Matilda, who has written Peppa Pig since 2021, is also creative producer for The Adventures of Abney and Teal and Teletubbies, Let's Go!. In the official announcement, Sky teased: 'From flying a rocket to the moon and sliding down rainbows, to fixing cars in her garage and meeting stripey zebras, Maisy shows that with curiosity and kindness, anything is possible.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Meanwhile Lucy Murphy, Director of Kids Content at Sky, said in a statement: 'Maisy is such a loved classic book character and we're so excited to be working with BBC Studios, Trustbridge Entertainment and Lucy Cousins to bring her to life in a contemporary way for Sky Kids families. 'With a real sense of joy in every episode, My Friend Maisy is the perfect blend of fun and adventure for young viewers.' Peppa Pig was created by Neville Astley and Mark Baker - who served as writers from its inception in 2004 until 2023, when they also stepped down as directors. It comes after Peppa's family were gifted a Jeep in a money-spinning new brand deal following the arrival of her baby sister. The famous cartoon pig announced the collaboration on Instagram last month after teasing how they would need a bigger car. Baby Evie - Mummy and Daddy Pig's third child - and a sister for Peppa, four, and George, two, was born just a week earlier at London's Lindo Wing. And as the growing family settle down with Evie, Jeep decided to give the family of five a helping hand. The Instagram post, which showed Peppa, her siblings and parents crowded around a luxury brand new car, was captioned: 'We heard you loud and clear! There's only one car you should drive Baby Evie home in.' Fans on social media have been in hysterics at the brand deal, with many sharing their opinion online - including celebrities such as Katherine Ryan. Taking to Instagram, the comedian said: 'What the hell is going on?!' Another said: 'This is the best collab ever.' A third wrote: 'OMGGG THIS IS GREAT MARKETING!!' 'I better see that jeep!! On the new episodesss,' a fourth commented. Evie was welcomed into the family with open arms. Speaking to Hello! Magazine, Mummy Pig said about the birth: 'We were very lucky – everything went smoothly and in eight, um, "short" hours of labour Evie was here.' Daddy Pig sweetly added: 'Mummy pig was AMAZING, and she brought our new baby girl into the world. What a miracle that is! Meanwhile Mummy Pig shared if there are future plans for more piglets. The family have been on screens since 2004 and in that time have remained a family of four, with Peppa and George not ageing throughout 21 years on screen. So when did the couple decide to add to their brood? 'I don't think either of us ever had a specific plan – but we just got to that place where timing felt right,' Mummy Pig explained. Daddy Pig agreed, adding: 'And everything fell into place. We're very lucky to be able to grow our family.' But the couple were more hesitant about adding a fourth child to their family, with Daddy Pig panicking before Mummy Pig jumped in to clarify: 'I think we're more than happy with our family of five! We're excited to settle into our new adventure and see where that takes us.' Mummy and Daddy Pig confirmed the happy news on Good Morning Britain, revealing their third piglet's name is Evie.

But when she scanned it on the B&M app - the usual way savvy shoppers come across unmarked bargain buys - it didn't come up. It also didn't have a price tag on it, so she decided to go up to the till to ask how much it was. And it was at that point that she discovered it would cost her just 10 pence. "Peppa Pig party bus at B&M scanning for 10p," she wrote alongside pictures of her new purchase on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group on Facebook. "There was no tag and doesn't scan on the app - says barcode not found. "£39.99 on Amazon and Smyths!" The party bus is a two in one playset that comes with three figures - Peppa, Danny Dog and Candy Cat - and 13 party-themed accessories. "Imagine Peppa and friends going for a rooftop ride in the cheery red double-decker bus, then pop the bus into party playset mode to discover 3 floors of feature-filled fun," a description of the product reads online. "What will the figures do next? How about a dance party using the twirling platforms? Mums issue stark warning about 'dark Peppa Pig' videos going viral on YouTube set out to target and terrify your kids "A spin on the roundabout toy? A ride down the slide? Should the balloons go on the bus, or on top of the jukebox?" And after Annabel shared snaps of her child with their new toy, others took to the comments section to plan their next trip to B&M with friends. "OMG!" one wrote. "Why not in the Dundee ones?" another sighed, tagging a mate. "Someone buy me one and stick on Vinted for me to buy for a couple of quid lol," a third commented. "Can't find none near me!" Peppa Pig legacy PEPPA Pig first aired in 2004 and has since been broadcast in 180 territories and translated into 40 languages. Now it's spawned books, toys and even two theme parks, with the global Peppa empire now worth over £1billion. Creators Neville Astley and Mark Baker admitted they were initially worried the idea would never get off the ground, and that people at first, were bored of the idea. Astley explained: "People in the pub would ask us, 'What are you drawing?' We'd say, 'A pig, called Peppa, it's going to be big'. 'They'd lose interest and wander off." "Wow, as if," someone else added. "When they don't scan on the app, that's how you know it's deffo 10p," another wrote. "As soon as I'm back we're off out," someone else said, again tagging a friend. "Amazing find," another smiled.
