Joseph Quinn says Beatles role is beyond his 'wildest dreams'
The 31-year-old Londoner, who stars in the new Marvel movie The Fantastic Four: First Steps, will be portraying Beatles guitarist George Harrison alongside Paul Mescal, who will portray Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr and Harris Dickinson who will play John Lennon.
Speaking at the London premiere for the Marvel film, Quinn told the PA news agency he felt "inspired" by his Beatles co-stars.
He said: "It feels exciting, it feels a little daunting.
"I'm definitely inspired by the three men that I'm working with, and Sam, who's directing it.
"We've been doing a few weeks of rehearsals that I've really been enjoying.
"It's beyond my wildest dreams. I can't believe I'm able to participate in a film and a project like this."
Directed by British filmmaker Sam Mendes, the collection of four films will showcase each member of The Fab Four with an expected release date of April 2028.
The Beatles biopic project marks the first time Apple Corps Ltd and The Beatles – McCartney, Starr, and the families of Lennon and Harrison – have granted full life story and music rights for a scripted film.
Previous films about the Beatles include Nowhere Boy, about Lennon growing up in Liverpool, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
Quinn is best known for playing Dungeons & Dragons enthusiast Eddie Munson in the sci-fi Netflix series Stranger Things and starred in the alien invasion movie, A Quiet Place: Day One – a prequel to the films A Quiet Place (2018) and A Quiet Place Part II (2020).
He also appeared in hit HBO series Game Of Thrones, along with historical Sky drama Catherine The Great with Helen Mirren.
Quinn recently starred alongside Mescal in Gladiator II, where he portrayed the less-mad Geta, one of the two feuding Roman emperors and brothers opposite Fred Hechinger as the unstable Caracalla.
He now plays Johnny – The Human Torch in the new Marvel movie The Fantastic Four: First Steps alongside Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.

LGBTQ+ literary prize ‘paused' as nominees pull out over inclusion of Irish author John Boyne
Organisers of the Polari Prize said the awards have been put on 'pause' but have 'already secured strong representation for next year'. A campaign calling for a boycott of the Polari Prize, which included a statement signed by more than 800 writers and workers in the publishing industry, stemmed from Boyne's views on transgender issues and support for British author JK Rowling. Writing in the Sunday Independent last month, Boyne expressed support for JK Rowling and described himself as a 'fellow Terf', an acronym for trans-exclusionary radical feminist, a term for those who describe themselves as feminists but deny that transgender women are women and oppose trans-inclusive legislation. 'We are profoundly disappointed by the Polari prize's decision to include John Boyne on the longlist for this year's Polari book prize,' the statement from boycott organisers read. 'In any year, the decision to include Mr Boyne on the longlist would be, in our view, inappropriate and hurtful to the wider community of LGBTQ+ readers and writers. That the decision has been made this year – in the context of rising anti-trans hatred and systematic exclusion of trans people from public life in the UK and across the world – is inexcusable.' Of the 24 authors longlisted for the top Polari Prize, 16 authors withdrew, along with two judges. Nicola Dinan, the author who won last year's Polari Prize, resigned from the jury for one of this year's awards. Organisers released a statement confirming the decision to pause this year's Polari Prize, committing to increase 'representation of trans and gender non-conforming judges on the panels for all the awards and undertake a governance and management review to include our aims and values and work to better support everyone within our LGBTQ+ Polari community.' Co Dublin native Boyne, best known for his historical novel The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, was named on the longlist for the 2024 novella Earth. The decision to pause this year's Polari Prize marked a change of heart for the organisers, who previously said they were 'committed to going forward' despite the controversy over Boyne's inclusion, saying he had been longlisted on merit. A statement released on August 7 said it was 'inevitable' that even within the LGBTQ+ community, 'we can at times hold radically different positions on substantive issues'. Writing in The Telegraph following the cancellation of this year's Polari Prize, Boyne said the statement released by Polari's organisers 'worries' him and it seemed 'absurd and wrong' for debut writers who withdrew from the prize to lose out on an opportunity. In a statement posted on X last week, Boyne said he had been a victim of 'bullying' and been subject to 'endless harassment at the hands of both strangers and fellow writers'. He asked that Earth not be considered for the shortlist should those who withdrew from the Polari Prize decide to return.

Aubrey Plaza details 'daily struggle' after death of her husband Jeff Baena
Aubrey Plaza has said it is a "daily struggle" following the death of her estranged husband Jeff Baena. The filmmaker died in January at the age of 47, with the Los Angeles County medical examiner concluding he took his own life. The director and screenwriter was found at a home close to the Fern Dell Nature Trail near the Hollywood Hills. Plaza discussed dealing with grief during an appearance on her Parks and Recreation co-star Amy Poehler's podcast. She said: "Right in this very, very present moment, I feel happy to be with you. "Overall, I'm here and I'm functioning. I feel really grateful to be moving through the world. I think I'm ok, but it's like a daily struggle, obviously." She told Poehler's Good Hang podcast that she compared her grief to the 2025 movie The Gorge, which stars Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy. She said: "This is a really dumb analogy and it was kind of a joke at a certain point, but I actually mean it. Did you see that movie The Gorge? In the movie, there's a cliff on one side and there's a cliff on the other side, then there's a gorge in between and it's filled with all these monster people that are trying to get them. "I swear, when I watched it, I was like that feels like what my grief is like … or what grief could be like. "At all times, there's like a giant ocean of awfulness, that's right there and I can see it. "Sometimes I just want to dive into it, and just like be in it. Then sometimes I just look at it, and sometimes I try to get away from it. But, it's always there." Plaza separated from Baena in September 2024, according to a report by the Los Angeles County Coroner Investigator. The couple had been in a relationship since around 2011 and they married a decade later. Plaza told The Ellen DeGeneres Show in December 2021 that they made the decision to tie the knot after getting "a little bored one night" during the Covid pandemic. The pair worked together on the 2014 horror film Life After Beth and 2017 historical comedy The Little Hours. Plaza is best known for her role as April in the workplace comedy Parks and Recreation, in which Poehler played politician Leslie Knope. She is also famous for her role in the second series of The White Lotus and the Marvel series Agatha All Along. She has also starred in Hollywood films including Megalopolis, My Old Ass, Ingrid Goes West, Dirty Grandpa and Emily The Criminal. Baena wrote 2020 thriller Horse Girl, starring Alison Brie, and 2022 dark comedy Spin Me Round, both of which he also directed, as well as 2004 comedy I Heart Huckabees, starring Jude Law, Jason Schwartzman, Dustin Hoffman and Mark Wahlberg. He also created the anthology comedy series Cinema Toast, which had an episode directed by Plaza and another starring Community actress Alison Brie.
