Comedian Jack Docherty returns for a second series of sitcom The Chief
Comedian Jack Docherty will reprise his role as Scotland's top cop - Chief Commissioner Cameron Miekelson - for a second series of hit sitcom The Chief with a Hollywood superstar also set to make an appearance.
Dougray Scott, known for roles such as Mission Impossible 2, Vigil and Desperate Housewives, will be joining the cast for the upcoming new series, which started filming this week in Glasgow.

Dougray, 59, will play himself in the upcoming scenes, undertaking a personal project for The Chief.

BBC has teased of the upcoming series: "Taking a peek into the workplace and home life of The Chief as he deals with colleagues, bams and family alike, the second series sees the return of cast regulars including Lorraine McIntosh as Miekelson's estranged wife Barbara and Eilidh Loan as his rebellious daughter, Ellen.
"Also returning are The Chief's loyal and (often) long-suffering police team played by Carmen Pieraccini, Dylan Bore and Lana Pheutan, with Sanjeev Kohli joining as an MSP from a new government putting pressure on the Chief from the top."

The second series is believed to follow The Chief at work, at home and at play juggling a range of duties and responsibilities.
Talking about reprising his role and the new series, Jack, 63, said: "I can't wait to once again don the uniform of Scotland 's finest crime-fighting legend, law-enforcer, justice dispenser, hero, icon.
"It's a privilege to play a character as modest and handsome as Chief Commissioner Cameron Miekelson."

He added: "This series I'm delighted that Dougray Scott will be guest-starring. The Scottish public have longed to see these two giants of acting together on screen.
"Well the wait is over. We're going toe to toe. Finally. Like DeNiro and Pacino in The Heat."

Meanwhile, Dougray himself said of the cameo: "I am very much looking forward to spending time with The Chief. He's a legend in his own lunchtime, a justice seeker of gargantuan proportions and outrageously funny…without realising it.
"I may have worked in Hollywood with A-listers but starring alongside The Chief might be one of my most challenging roles to date. Joking aside, it's going to be great to work alongside Jack Docherty – I just hope I can keep a straight face!"
Gavin Smith, BBC Scotland, Executive Producer added: "BBC Scotland is delighted to be firing up the blue flashing light for a second time and welcoming The Chief back to our screens.
"Rumours that Chief Commissioner Cameron Miekelson furnished the commissioning team with a new set of golf clubs from the evidence lockers are entirely unfounded."
The Chief returns to BBC One and BBC iPlayer soon.

Destination X viewers 'fuming' over show's 'unfair twist' - as favourite risks exit

Destination X fans have been left fuming over the BBC show's latest episode, as contestant Josh was given an 'unfair advantage' which puts fan favourite Nick at risk It was another tense night in Destination X tonight, as the BBC show aired its fifth episode of the series. Fans were left on a massive cliffhanger by host Rob Brydon, after the episode left them fuming. ‌ The huge twist saw Josh was given the chance to sabotage someone and move their X 250km away from the point they chose. Josh opted to choose former athlete Nick - who has shown his ability and strength throughout the course of the show. ‌ Usually, fans will see who goes at the end of each episode, but they'll have to wait a little while longer this week. It comes after Destination X fans 'work out winner' after spotting 'clue' in episode four. ‌ The good thing for fans is that they won't have to wait too much longer to see who goes, with the next episode airing tomorrow night on BBC One. Fans are now worried that Nick may be kicked out after being sabotaged, as they took to X, formerly known as Twitter to discuss. "Well, josh is going to sabotage nick isn't he? #destinationx," guessed one before he had even chosen. Another, who thought the advantage was unfair, said: "Whoever gets their X moved should get to come back in the final and move a remaining player's X". "Moving the X is so unfair. Nick will be gone," a third wrote, as another agreed: "This is such an unfair power this isn't Big Brother it should be a case where players can basically eliminate others." " #destinationX Moving someone's marker is s**t. I'm going off this programme now," said another, while one penned: "Josh sabotaging Nick… are we surprised..." ‌ At the end of the episodes, whichever contestant guesses the furthest from the correct locale is kicked off the bus, and their journey comes to a sad end. ‌ Therefore, with Nick's X being moved so far away from the position he chose, will his journey come to an end? It's not the first episode that fans have had a complaint to make about the show. Last week, fans all took to X to complain that they were 'getting annoyed' with the show and the sheer lack of knowledge that the contestants seemed to possess. One viewer took to X to say: "Getting annoyed with #DestinationX - the lack of knowledge is appalling!" Another said: "I assume it's deliberate in this show that they picked contestants who know absolutely nothing about European languages or Geography, but it's still very frustrating to watch."

EastEnders' Phil leaves Julie shaken in outburst as they clash over Nigel

Tensions between EastEnders' Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) and Julie Bates (Karen Henthorn) reach boiling point next week as Phil drops a bombshell about Nigel Bates' (Paul Bradley). Julie was recently reunited with her estranged husband Nigel, who had walked out on their life together in a bid to hide his dementia diagnosis from her. While she had planned to take him back home to Scotland to look after him, Nigel ultimately decided he wanted to stay in Walford with his old friend Phil, who he had been living with since returning to the BBC soap after 27 years at Christmas. Ultimately, Phil invited Julie to move in with him and Nigel at No.18, but things haven't exactly been smooth sailing between the pair. After a short trip back to Scotland, Nigel and Julie arrive back on the Square with their three pet chickens next week, and Phil is soon struggling with the new dynamic in his household. As Julie gets busy organising everything and making decisions, Phil gets annoyed that she's changing Nigel's routine. He's further agitated when the chickens keep everyone awake, making his relationship with Julie even more strained. When the pair both accompany Nigel to an assessment, he gets stressed by their constant sniping, which results in an almighty clash between Phil and Julie over their different approaches to Nigel's care. But Phil then has an outburst which leaves Julie shocked to the core, and she's left demanding answers about the revelation. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? But before the song began he said into the mic: "This one's for Susan Boyle." And Subo, 63, was quick to respond to the music legend's tribute by breaking out her best bucket hat. She posed with the iconic headgear featuring a picture of Gallagher featuring the title of his solo hit song and album "Why me? Why not?" Susan also donned a black Oasis t-shirt and threw two thumbs up as she grinned ear-to-ear in the post on her Instagram page. The star wrote: "Thanks so much for the dedication Liam Gallagher. "You've made this old girl's day." She even made a reference to The Poznan, where fans turn their backs to the stage, place their arms around each other and jump up and down. It started in the Polish city it is named after but became a favourite of Manchester City fans - the club supported by Liam and Noel. Oasis fans took on the trend and now do it when the band performs their hit tune Cigarettes and Alcohol. Joyous moment Scots schoolgirl dances to favourite Oasis song outside packed Murrayfield gig Susan even hinted she would be heading to see the band when they return to Wembley Stadium for their sold out shows in September. She added: "Hope to see you and the rest of Oasis at Wembley in September for a wee bit of Poznań "Big love to you all." Oasis have just ended their absolutely epic three gig run in Edinburgh. Around 210,000 ecstatic fans rocked Murrayfield stadium when the reunion tour came to Scotland. The trio of sold out performances even set a record for the most SEISMIC performance at the venue in 20 years. While Liam had kind words for Susan, he had a different message for Edinburgh Council. He took three brutal swipes at local authority chiefs during the shows - one at each gig. The legendary rocker was left furious at council chiefs after they branded Oasis fans 'drunk', 'lairy', 'fat' and 'old' in secret safety briefings. Officials claimed that the concert-goers would be mainly 'rowdy' 'middle-aged men' who 'take up more room' and will drink to 'medium to high intoxication'. Liam has called out snooty Edinburgh council officials over their remarks on several occasions.
