Aadhar Housing Finance Committed to Make Homeownership Accessible to Communities in Kochi & Trivandrum under PMAY

Hans India14-06-2025
Aadhar Housing Finance Ltd., India's leading low-income housing finance provider, has announced the launch of Phase II of its Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0) awareness camp, with a sharp focus on making homeownership more accessible to underserved communities of Kerala. Building on the success of its previous efforts, the company will conduct PMAY Utsav and Spot Sanction Camps from 12 – 15 June 2025 making the PMAY process simple, transparent, and accessible for first-time homebuyers in Kochi & Trivandrum
The camp will help in checking eligibility, understand the documents required, expected benefits—including subsidies of up to ₹1.80 lakh and get faster loan approvals—bringing the families one step closer to owning their dream home. Additionally, eligible applicants will receive spot home loan sanction letters at these camps upon document verification.
Aadhar Housing Finance is committed to helping first-time homebuyers from low-income backgrounds realising their dream of owning a home. With affordable loan options typically ranging between ₹10–13 lakhs, most customers fall well within the eligibility criteria for the PMAY subsidy. The recent revival of the Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) makes home loans even more affordable by lowering EMIs. This is especially helpful in smaller towns and emerging cities where cost of housing is lower, and government subsidies play a bigger role in purchase decisions. By making repayments easier and faster, Aadhar aims to ensure a smooth and secure path to homeownership for EWS and LIG families.
Rishi Anand, MD & CEO, Aadhar Housing Finance Ltd. said, 'At Aadhar Housing Finance, our mission has always been to make homeownership a reality for India's underserved families. With the Government's renewed push for affordable housing and the revival of the PMAY interest subsidy scheme, we see a powerful opportunity to extend that dream to even more first-time homebuyers. Through our spot sanction camps, especially in emerging markets, we aim to simplify access, raise awareness, and fast-track the journey toward owning a dream home.'
Aadhar Housing Finance currently serves nearly 3 lakh live customers across 545 districts and 580+ branches in 22 states and union territories. With nearly 74% of its portfolio dedicated to home loans and a strong presence in emerging markets, Aadhar is well-positioned to expand access to affordable housing finance where it's needed most. This initiative directly supports the Government of India's 'Housing for All' vision and is aligned with the National Housing Bank's (NHB) inclusion goals. PMAY Awareness Campaign by Aadhar is a key part of the company's broader mission to contribute towards Viksit Bharat.

Affordable housing needs collaboration between Centre and State, say panellists

The State and Central governments must collaborate and work together for providing affordable housing, and address issues of equity and financial inclusion. This was one of the major insights shared at the discussion on 'Affordable Housing: Bridging the Urban Housing Gap' organised as part of The Hindu Tamil Nadu Real Estate Summit 2025 in the city on Tuesday. The topics deliberated include the need for inclusive housing, challenges faced by private developers, and the role of the government in providing affordable housing. Noting that housing for marginalised communities cannot be ensured with a one-size-fits-all approach, cannot be done in a one-size-fits-all approach, Vanessa Peter, founder, Information and Resource Centre for the Deprived Urban Communities, said basic requirements should be met without compromising on traditional livelihood spaces. Underlining the challenges in ensuring affordable housing for socially disadvantaged people, she said communities must be consulted before designing houses, and a robust third-party quality monitoring mechanism put in place to reduce design flaws. Speakers also stressed the affordability of housing for urban poor population under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) by waiver of beneficiary contribution to some extent. When asked whether incremental housing would be developed in satellite townships, A. Srivathsan, professor, Head of the Centre for Research on Architecture and Urbanism at CEPT University, said Arumbakkam Sites and Services Scheme was one of the best examples for incremental housing. The area has turned beyond recognition over a generation as people have become economically strong. However, such housing is only possible with design and legal modifications, given land cost limitations. Pointing out that housing for economically weaker sections is largely covered by the State, he said that land availability and construction cost were some of the challenges. Private players are more interested in promoting housing for higher income groups. Though developing a grid of roads would be ideal for structured housing development, people are often willing to suffer lack of infrastructure and focus on the land cost. Highlighting that inclusive housing was a critical component of equitable growth, R.V. Shekar, chairman and managing director (MD), Lancor Group, spoke on the need for creating an environment to collaborate with the Central government to develop integrated satellite townships at subsidised cost. A pilot project, with up to two lakh houses, could be planned near Chennai. P. Suresh, MD, Arun Excello Group, spoke on integrated township in Oragadam that aims at improving lifestyle. However, obtaining land parcel for developing such townships was a challenge. The government played a pivotal role in allotting land parcels to develop housing for communities. The Central government should consider restoring the benefits offered under the earlier version of the PMAY, and reduce taxes to resolve issues of affordable housing to low and middle income groups. ing. R. Sujatha, former Deputy Editor, The Hindu, moderated the session. The event is presented by Casagrand and co-presented by G Square. The Green Energy partner for the event is Swelect and the Sports Ecosystem partners are SDAT and Tamil Nadu Champions Foundation. The event is supported by CREDAI Tamil Nadu, Lancor, Namma Family Group. The Strategic partner is MMA (Madras Management Association) and the TV and digital partners are Puthiya Thalaimurai, the Federal voice of the States respectively.

Now, Aadhaar mandatory to avail benefits of Delhi govt schemes

Now, having an Aadhar card is mandatory to avail the benefits of the schemes of the Delhi government. Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has approved the BJP government's proposal to make the document mandatory for the issuance of income certificates in the Capital. The income certificate is a key document for availing financial benefits under a range of government schemes in the Capital. 'The move aims at eliminating any irregularity or malpractice in issuing income certificates to the applicants and thereby ensuring that only genuine beneficiaries registered under a scheme or financial assistance get the benefit,' a statement by the Raj Niwas underlined. The proposal, endorsed by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, seeks to bring the service of issuing income certificates under Section 7 of the Aadhaar Act, 2016. This provision allows the state or Central government to make Aadhaar-based authentication compulsory for identifying individuals receiving subsidies, services, or benefits funded through the Consolidated Fund of India of the state. The income certificate issued by the Revenue department is used to determine eligibility for several welfare schemes, including tuition fee reimbursement for students from SC, ST, and OBC communities; pensions; and health-related financial assistance under the Delhi Arogya Kosh. Using Aadhaar would help simplify service delivery, improve transparency, and ensure that benefits reach only eligible individuals, officials in the Revenue Department said. It would also eliminate the need to submit multiple documents to establish identity. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on November 25, 2019, had authorised state governments to mandate Aadhaar authentication for schemes funded from the Consolidated Fund of the State. As per the notification, individuals not possessing an Aadhaar number currently but seeking benefits under the mentioned schemes will now be required to enrol for Aadhaar. In the case of minors, Aadhaar Enrolment ID or Biometric Update ID, along with a birth certificate or school ID bearing the parent's name and signed by the school principal, will be accepted. Adults without Aadhaar can furnish the enrolment slip along with a government-issued document such as a bank passbook, PAN card, passport, Kisan passbook, or driving licence. Saxena has asked the Revenue department to undertake a public awareness campaign to inform citizens about the Aadhaar requirement, so that genuine beneficiaries are not denied their entitlements.
