Michael Brockers sees the Rams, not the Lions, as the biggest threat to the Eagles
No team came closer to knocking off the Philadelphia Eagles last postseason than the Los Angeles Rams, who took them down to the wire in the divisional round. The Rams were 13 yards away from a potential game-winning touchdown, losing by just six points on the road in snowy Philadelphia.
Despite that, there are still four other teams with better odds to win the NFC title game than the Rams: the Eagles, Lions, 49ers and Commanders, according to BetMGM.
In Michael Brockers' mind, the Rams are actually the biggest threat to the Eagles in the NFC. He made his case on 'Good Morning Football' this week, pointing out that the Lions lost both coordinators this offseason.
'Sean McVay, his staff, they always draft really well,' Brockers said. 'They kind of know what they're doing and like I said earlier, they're silently building a team. They have Davante Adams, Matthew Stafford still has it. … Arm is still there, his mind is still sharp, so I see the Rams being the biggest threat to the Philadelphia Eagles.'
In hindsight, the Rams were the biggest threat to the Eagles last season, nearly upsetting them in the playoffs. Had they pulled it off, they would've hosted the NFC Championship Game against the Commanders, a game they undoubtedly would've been favored to win.
The Rams reloaded this offseason by bringing in Davante Adams, Poona Ford and Coleman Shelton in free agency, also adding six rookies in the draft – including second-round tight end Terrance Ferguson.
If they can stay healthy and get off to a better start than they have the last two years, the Rams will be a real threat in the NFC.

Canadiens sign forward Vinzenz Rohrer to three-year, entry-level contract

MONTREAL - The Montreal Canadiens have signed forward Vinzenz Rohrer to a three-year, entry-level contract, the club announced Saturday. The 20-year-old Austrian has spent the last two seasons with the Zurich Lions in the Swiss National League. Rohrer had 25 points (15 goals, 10 assists) in 52 appearances in his second season with the team. He added seven points (one goal, six assists) in 16 post-season games in helping the Lions capture their second consecutive league title. Rohrer also represented Austria at the world hockey championship, where he had six points (four goals, two assists) in eight games. Austria was eliminated in the quarterfinals by eventual runner-up Switzerland. Before joining the Lions, Rohrer played two seasons with the Ottawa 67's in the Ontario Hockey League, amassing 97 points (44 goals, 53 assists) in 118 games from 2021 to 2023. The Habs selected Rohrer in the third round (75th overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft. This report by The Canadian Press was first published June 14, 2025.

Ex-Packers Star Linked to Eagles in Surprising Roster Prediction

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. At the beginning of the week, the Green Bay Packers cut ties with a prominent member of their defense. In a cost-cutting move, the Packers parted ways with the veteran cornerback, Jaire Alexander. As expected, the availability of Alexander generated a ton of buzz across the NFL. Being that he's a seasoned veteran who still has plenty of gas left in the tank, there are enough corner-needy teams out there who are worthy of giving Alexander a look. Although the Eagles are fresh off a Super Bowl victory and don't necessarily seem to be in desperate need of a cornerback, they've become a popular candidate to potentially lure in the former Packer. A recent prediction from CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin adds some fuel to the Alexander-Eagles hype train. The NFL analyst predicts that Alexander's landing spot ahead of the 2025 NFL season could be the Eagles. He's predicted to land a one-year deal, worth $16 million. Photo by"Joining the rival Minnesota Vikings would be spicy and smart for both sides, while the Rams and Baltimore Ravens also make sense as playoff-contending suitors," Benjamin writes. "The Philadelphia Eagles are due for a splash, though, and Alexander, who just happened to be born in Philly, would give them a higher-upside rental for their title-winning secondary." Winning came at a pretty big cost for the Eagles. Their defensive line dealt with a couple of key losses as multiple pass-rushers secured major deals in free agency. As for the secondary, the Eagles didn't retain a handful of names. The homegrown Avonte Maddox changed teams for the first time in his career, joining the Detroit Lions. James Bradberry exits the organization after being nothing more than a veteran presence in 2024. Darius Slay and Isaiah Rodgers played key roles in the Eagles' championship run, and they'll take their talents to another city for next year. Slay signed a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers, while Rodgers packed up to join the Minnesota Vikings. The Eagles are quite confident in the young combination of Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean. The 22-year-old fourth-round pick Kelee Ringo is off to a strong start in the offseason, garnering plenty of hype for his progression at spring camp. While a youth movement was expected in Philadelphia's secondary, bringing on a veteran like Alexander is still the kind of play that a team putting together a championship push makes. The availability concerns for Alexander are understandable, considering he played in just 14 games over the past two seasons, but the Eagles have a decent insurance policy with their current set of young backs. The Eagles have helped DBs bounce back on prove-it deals in the past. Alexander could be the next.

SL Benfica President Rui Costa Inaugurates Portuguese club's new Residential Academy in Florida

The "Eagles" have taken their world-famous player development methodology to the United States TAMPA, Fla., June 14, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- SL Benfica President Rui Costa officially inaugurated the club's new Residential Academy this Friday at Saint Leo University in Florida, marking a major step in the club's international expansion and long-term commitment to youth development in the United States. The event brought together members of the Benfica board, academy families, the Saint Leo University community, and guests from across the Tampa Bay area. First team players Florentino Luís, Joshua Wynder and Renato Sanches, who graduated from the academy in Lisbon, were also present. The ceremony was part of Benfica's visit to the U.S., where the club is participating in the first-ever FIFA Club World Cup. Benfica's player development training methodology is world famous with the club twice winning the award for best academy in the world at the Globe Soccer Awards and producing elite talent such as Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, João Neves, Gonçalo Ramos and João Felix. With this launch, Benfica becomes the third major European club to establish a residential academy in the U.S., beginning with 100 student-athletes and plans to grow to 500. Training will follow the club's training methods and will be led by Benfica-trained coaches. President Rui Costa said, "For us, Sport Lisboa e Benfica, it is a great honor to be here today, in person, to inaugurate this academy. We are known, beyond our borders, for the excellent work we do in player development, and being able to carry out this partnership with Saint Leo University, here in the United States, fills us with pride and honor, especially because this is a model we strongly believe in: where our players can combine sporting excellence with academic development," he emphasized. He added, "It's a fantastic project, a huge project, one of great scale—but scale in the Benfica way. It is the first, but it will not be the last. Above all, it is an important pillar for what we envision as the expansion of the Benfica brand, and for one of our highest priorities, as I mentioned earlier: to develop players the Benfica way." Benfica's academy footprint spans 5 continents with full academies in Portugal, USA, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, and technical partnerships in Egypt, Dubai, India, Mauritius, Malta, Japan, Lithuania and Luxembourg and Poland alongside high-performance youth camps across the globe. Edwin Narain, chair of the St. Leo University board of trustees, said, "It is my great pleasure to welcome you to Saint Leo University, as we celebrate the official launch of a partnership between Saint Leo University and the Benfica Residential Academy," Narain said. "We are honored that the club has chosen Saint Leo University as the site of its first residential academy in the United States." View original content: SOURCE Sport Lisboa e Benfica
