Man needed 16 stitches after driver hit him in Glasgow

Daniel Moody left the event around 3.30am on November 26, 2023 and was walking along Jamaica Street in the city centre when he started to argue with another man.
The stranger crossed the road and got in a private hire, driven by Saad Amjad.
Mr Moody followed the man and stood at the passenger window, continuing the argument.
The car began to drive away when Mr Moody punched the back window.
Amjad stopped the vehicle, picked up a torch and got out to confront him. The driver then punched him, still gripping the torch.
The 33-year-old also lunged towards him, grabbing him by the collar and pushing him back.
After this, they separated and Mr Moody continued walking down the street.
The punch resulted in a cut on the left side of his face, between his cheek and the middle of his ear.
Mr Moody was picked up by his mother, who took him to the A&E at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he required 16 stitches.
He reported the incident to the police three days later.
Amjad was tracked down through CCTV and his job at Glasgow Cabs.
He attended the Helen Street police station, where he was identified and arrested.

The Govanhill resident appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court with an Urdu interpreter last week, after he pleaded guilty to one charge of assault.
His lawyer admitted: "It's a serious charge, he accepts that. However, this is a very specific context.
"He stopped to get out and examine the damage, using a torch. He then approached Mr Moody and was immediately racially abused.
"He accepts initiating the physical confrontation but the first punch was thrown by Mr Moody."
The procurator fiscal depute confirmed: "Yes, Mr Moody was seen to be swinging at Amjad. Police were not able to see it on the CCTV if it made contact."
The solicitor also explained that Amjad threw a punch with the torch in his hand, but he did not swing it.
He added: "He reacted momentarily and he forgot that the torch was in his hand. He and Mr Moody were both unaware that he had injured him."

Sheriff Patricia Pryce said: "Where he went wrong is that he should have kept driving. That's why it's not self-defence like he claimed in the report.
"He didn't need to stop, this was avoidable.
"He is a man with absolutely no history of violence but this absolutely reached the custody threshold."
Due to his lack of record, Amjad was sentenced to 200 hours of unpaid work, to be completed within nine months.
