Taarek Refaat
Mohamed Abou El Enein, Deputy Speaker of Egypt's House of Representatives and Chairman of Cleopatra Group highlighted the group's pioneering journey in transforming the Egyptian desert into a hub of industrial development, during a speech at the Sixth Qingdao Multinationals Summit in China.
His remarks were featured in a televised segment aired by Ahmed Moussa on his program on Egypt's Sada El-Balad channel.
'In the heart of the desert, we began building the first industrial city specializing in construction materials,' Abou El Enein said. 'We have a story of transforming the desert, not just with buildings, but with vision, resilience, and Egyptian innovation.'
Founded over 45 years ago, Cleopatra Group has grown into one of the largest private industrial and investment entities in Egypt and the Middle East, with core operations in ceramics, porcelain, building materials; an export-driven manufacturing.
Abou El Enein emphasized that Cleopatra Group's success serves as a case study in localized industrialization, noting that it became the first Egyptian company to lead the ceramics and construction materials sector.
'What started as an idea in the middle of the desert is now a thriving industrial empire contributing to Egypt's economy and exports,' he said.

OPEN// PM: Egypt ranked 9th globally in attracting FDIs according to int'l report

NEW ALAMEIN CITY, June 25 (MENA) - Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said on Wednesday that an international report indicated that Egypt ranked 9th globally in 2024 in terms of attracting foreign direct investments (FDIs), after previously ranking 35th. This is a positive development, and the state will continue to promote investment in the coming period, accelerate licensing processes, and provide more facilities for both foreign and local investors to encourage a favorable investment climate, Madbouli told a press conference at the government headquarters in New Alamein City following the weekly Cabinet meeting. The prime minister reassured the Egyptian people that the country's economic situation is stable, pointing out that Egypt's foreign currency resources in May matched the state's spending for the fourth month in a row. He also emphasized that Egypt is capable of meeting its needs without relying on hot money (short-term speculative capital), and that local resources now cover consumption and needs. The agenda features high-level policy panels and economic dialogues, including sessions led by Jeffrey Sachs, Columbia University, Kishore Mahbubani, National University of Singapore, as well as African business icons such as Aliko Dangote and Tony Elumelu Egypt's Strategic Role The governor is expected to emphasize Egypt's vision for financial inclusion, fintech innovation, and regional infrastructure financing, aligning with Afreximbank's mission to build resilient African economies.
