Andhra Pradesh government constitutes task force to identify economic growth avenues
In the G.O. 92 issued on Monday (June 9, 2025), Industries Secretary N. Yuvaraj said the government has constituted a Task Force on Economic Development for Swarna Andhra Pradesh@ 2047.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has been appointed Chairman of the task force, while Tata Sons Executive Chairman N. Chandrasekaran will be the Co-Chairman. The task force members include CII Director General Chandrajit Banerjee and Apollo Hospitals Vice-Chairperson Preetha Reddy, Suchitra Ella, Prof. Raj Reddy, Satish Reddy, GMR Group Chairman G.M. Rao, Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, L&T Chairman Subrahmanyan, and TVS Motor Company Chairman Venu Srinivasan.
The G.O. said that the primary purpose of the task force is to prepare a blueprint for the economic growth and development of Andhra Pradesh. It will hold meetings and interactions with senior industry leaders, government functionaries and subject experts of various sectors. It will deliberate and consolidate their inputs and arrive at the framework of the report accordingly.
The task force will identify economic growth avenues for Andhra Pradesh, infrastructure gaps, assess capital requirements, and evaluate the existing policy framework. It will suggest policy and regulatory reforms needed, including the key policies, to transform the State into Swarna Andhra Pradesh by 2047.
The task force will make an econometric projection of the GSDP by 2030 and 2047. It will also prepare a comprehensive report at the earliest. The CII will facilitate engagement with the subject experts.
The Secretary, Industry and Commerce Department and CEO, APEDB are the nodal Points of Contact (PoC) for facilitating the meetings of the task force and interactions of the CII and task force Members with the respective Secretaries.

Monsoon Session: Delhi CM tables two CAG audit reports of AAP term
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday tabled two Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) reports in the Assembly on the performance of the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. However, there was no discussion on the reports. With this, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government has tabled 10 out of 14 pending CAG reports on AAP's governance. The first report, titled 'Welfare of Building and Other Construction Workers', pointed out several shortcomings in the schemes for construction workers, including unreliable data, duplication of registered workers, and discrepancies in the cess collected from builders for workers' welfare. The Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board (DBOCWWB) is already facing an Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) probe over registration of 'ghost workers'. The other CAG report, titled 'State Finances for the year 2023-24', highlighted a 55.30% fall in revenue surplus in one year — ₹14,457 crore in 2022-23 to ₹6,462 crore in 2023-24. The report also noted a 'continuous mismatch' between receipts and expenditure, indicating a 'rising fiscal stress'. Responding to CAG's findings regarding the welfare of construction workers, AAP said that Lieutenant-Governor V.K. Saxena and the BJP-led Centre should admit 'that they failed in their primary duty of vigilance and posted corrupt officers in sensitive positions'. 'Many loopholes' About the registration of workers with the DBOCWWB, the report said, 'The availability of duplicate images, images with no faces, and multiple registrations of the same face indicates several loopholes in the registration process.' In its audit spanning four years up to March 2023, the CAG also identified 'huge differences' in the records of cess collectors, district records and the board regarding the total cess collection. 'The difference in figures of the cess as per district records and as per the board for four years amounted to ₹204.95 crore. The differences were not reconciled. The department did not maintain a reconciled database of cess assessed, collected and remitted,' stated the report. A Delhi government official said the board had responded to the CAG's findings with a 'point-by-point' rebuttal, which was not included in the report. 'The discrepancies in data were due to a shift to a newer portal for workers created by the National Informatics Centre. The differences in cess collections were due to some builders depositing the money to the district office and others directly to the board's bank account,' the official added. The official added that the performance audit has neither found any 'ghost worker' in the system nor any embezzlement. L-G to blame: AAP In a statement, AAP said, 'Right from 2015, the BJP-appointed L-G appointed his favourite officers at sensitive positions in the government. It was the BJP-appointed L-G who headed the Vigilance and ACB departments. It was the primary duty of the L-G to prevent corruption.'

Be conscious of public health, Naidu tells officials ahead of new liquor policy launch
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu advised the officials of the Excise Department not to look at the New Liquor Policy (NLP), which is scheduled to come into effect on September 1, merely from the revenue generation perspective but to also keep in mind the importance of safeguarding the public health, in the sense that selling liquor having less alcohol content would help in protecting the consumers. Reviewing the functioning of the Excise Department at the Secretariat in Amaravati on Monday, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said the consumption of substandard quality liquor during the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) rule caused the death of a large number of people, devastating their families. He noted that since the implementation of the NLP was around the corner, the Excise Department should take necessary steps while being conscious of the fact that the government could not afford to make money at the cost of public health. The recommendations made by the Cabinet Sub-Committee have to be strictly adhered to. Licences As on date, the State has 840 bars, and under the new policy, bar licences would be issued through a lottery system subject to the payment of annual licence fees based on population (₹35 lakh for areas with population below 50,000, ₹55 lakh for towns with population below five lakh, and ₹75 lakh for cities / towns whose populations exceeds five lakh). The Chief Minister ordered that 10% of the bar licences should be allotted to underprivileged castes, as being done in the case of liquor shops. Officials told the Chief Minister that there has been an increase in liquor sales in areas bordering the neighbouring States due to a fall in prices, availability of brands and quality liquor in A.P. The situation was the opposite during the YSRCP rule, when liquor used to be smuggled from other States. The officials said that 12 districts have been declared as fully 'ID liquor-free', and eight more districts will follow suit in a month. Minister Kollu Ravindra (Excise, and Mining) and Kondapalli Srinivas (MSME & SERP) and senior officials were present.

A.P. Chief Minister sets a target of per capita income of ₹5.42 lakh by the end of 2029
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu told the officials of the Planning Department to draw a roadmap for increasing the per capita income to ₹3,47,871 by the end of FY 2025–26, and to ₹5.42 lakh by 2029. He stressed the importance of taking the Gross Value Added (GVA) to higher levels especially in mining, agriculture, horticulture and aqua sectors. Addressing a review meeting on the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) and the government Key Performance Indicators (KPI) with officials of the planning and other departments concerned at the Secretariat on Monday (August 04), Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said all the government departments should have sector-specific plans for the short, medium and long terms in order to achieve the desired goals in a systematic manner. He suggested that due priority has to be given to increasing the incomes of households, and called for efficient utilization of the natural resources. Governance should be integrated with advanced technologies to be able to deliver citizen services in a better way, he said, calling for the policies to be in alignment with national and global trends so that the best outcomes could be achieved. Further, A.P. must become the State having the highest per capita income, and living standards that were superior to those of other States, he added. Monitoring should be done from the family level, and the officials have to incorporate the forest green cover, air quality, per capita electricity usage, and other such indicators in their planning process to arrive at a comprehensive picture. The CM told the officials to make 700 government services available online from August 15, and said that information gathered through the Real Time Governance Society was a valuable asset that helps in making out plans from a long-term perspective. Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav, Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand and other senior officials took part.
