Rohit Pawar hints at likely NCP merger

Mumbai: Rohit Pawar , a member of the Sharad Pawar family, has stirred the pot regarding a possible merger with the Ajit Pawar faction , stating that Supriya Sule would clarify the issue. Rohit Pawar, MLA and grandnephew of Sharad Pawar, was asked about merger talks and mentioned that it would be up to Supriya Sule to make the final decision. "Saheb (Sharad Pawar) has entrusted Supriya with this responsibility, and until she returns and speaks clearly on the matter... Supriya is currently abroad (with an all-party delegation for Operation Sindoor). She will return on May 5th, and after that, we are all waiting for her views," said Rohit Pawar, speaking at an event in Pune on Saturday. Rohit further claimed that no discussions have taken place among party leaders or MLAs, like himself, about merging with the NCP (Ajit faction). "Until Supriya returns and clarifies, we won't be able to shed light on this," he added. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Play War Thunder now for free War Thunder Play Now Undo He hinted that, while Sharad Pawar has been signaling a potential alliance with the Ajit Pawar faction and the BJP , there could still be a twist. "No one knows what's in Pawar saheb's mind. When he takes a decision, it's often unexpected and totally out of the blue. If he speaks politically, something different may happen. What unfolds in the coming days will depend on him, but he will always take a decision in favor of the people," Rohit said. It is significant that when the Ajit Pawar faction split and formed an alliance with the BJP, the Sharad Pawar faction opposed the move, citing ideological differences with the BJP. Live Events

Amit Shah launches fierce attack on Mamata Banerjee

Tired of too many ads? Remove Ads Kolkata: In a blistering attack on the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government , union home minister Amit Shah on Sunday said the 2026 Assembly election in the state is not just about development but is closely tied to the country's safety and security. Shah accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government of promoting infiltration and vote-bank politics, calling recent violence in Murshidabad "state-sponsored riots.""West Bengal's election is not only about development; it's about national security. Didi's politics and blessings have encouraged infiltration," Shah said while addressing the Vijay Sankalp Karyakarta Sammelan in Kolkata, kicking off BJP's 2026 Assembly poll campaign. He accused the TMC government of deliberately stalling border fencing efforts. "Trinamool MPs ask what BSF is doing about infiltration. We've been requesting land for fencing. Give us the land, and we'll ensure not even a bird enters Bengal," he claimed Banerjee's motives are political: "You purposely don't give land because you want infiltration to continue and your vote bank to grow. You want your nephew to become the next Chief Minister-we won't let that happen."Referring to the recent visit of prime minister Narendra Modi to Alipurduar, Shah said, "After years of Left rule, Mamata Didi took charge. But she turned the sacred land of Bengal into a hub of infiltration, corruption, attacks on Hindus, and violence against women. Post-poll violence continues under Trinamool-something unseen in the rest of the country." "Your time is up, Didi," Shah declared. "In 2026, BJP will form the government, and those behind the killings of BJP workers will be held accountable."
