Alien: Earth lead Sydney Chandler has unexpected family connection to beloved Hollywood star

Up-and-coming actress Sydney Chandler leads the critically acclaimed new series Alien: Earth, the latest entry in the long-running sci-fi horror franchise
Alien: Earth actress Sydney Chandler is impressing viewers after the first two episodes of Noah Hawley's gripping Alien prequel series dropped on Disney+ yesterday (Wednesday, 13th August).

The rising star portrays a hybrid named Wendy, a synthetic human who is the first person ever to have their consciousness uploaded into an artificial body.

When a research vessel carrying precious and deadly cargo crash lands on Earth, Wendy and her cohort of other hybrids known as the Lost Boys are sent to investigate, bringing them face to face with the planet's greatest threat.

Sydney takes on her most high-profile role to date alongside a stellar cast including Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, and Babou Ceesay.
But what do we know about her life away from the series so far? Let's take a look.
Famous Father
Sydney Chandler already has plenty of experience with Hollywood as her father is well-known actor, Kyle Chandler.
She was born to the Friday Night Lights star and his wife, Kathryn Macquarrie, in 1996, the year following their marriage.
Kyle and Kathryn met at the University of Georgia and have been together ever since. Kathryn usually keeps a low profile, though regularly attends events with her husband and has two credits as an actress to her name, in the 1990s film The Willies and TV series Red Shoe Diaries.

Sydney's father has been a constant presence in major Hollywood films for the past three decades, landing memorable supporting roles in the likes of King Kong, Super 8, Argo, Zero Dark Thirty and The Wolf of Wall Street.
He has also appeared in acclaimed Oscar contenders such as Carol and Manchester by the Sea and returned to the King Kong franchise in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and Godzilla vs. Kong.
After being cast in the role of Hal Jordan aka Green Lantern in October 2024, he's set to make his debut in the DC Universe in the upcoming HBO series Lanterns, set to be released next year.

Love Life
So far, Sydney has kept her private and professional lives separate so it's unknown if she is currently dating someone.
However, she was previously linked to her Pistol co-star Louis Partridge, reportedly dating between 2021 and 2023.

Little is known about the ins and outs of their romance, but they were seen attending the British Fashion Awards together.
Louis is now dating pop star Olivia Rodrigo.

Cover Shoot Absence
Part of why fans don't know a whole lot about the upcomer is because Sydney herself is still working out how much of her personal life she wants to be known to the public.
Earlier this year, the star was missing from a Variety cover shoot including Alien: Earth showrunner Hawley and her co-star Olyphant due to a "really unfortunate' misunderstanding.
Sydney decided to decline taking part in a filmed game of 'How Well Do They Know Each Other?', which she says she didn't realise was a dealbreaker.

"I really wanted to be there for the photo shoot, and I was ready to talk anything and everything Alien,' she told Entertainment Weekly.
'Again, new to this; I haven't done something like that before. I felt uncomfortable doing something like that.
'Unfortunately, I was uninvited from the rest of the shoot. I never meant to offend.'

Other Roles
Outside of her breakout Alien role, Sydney is best known for appearing in Pistols, alongside her ex Louis, portraying Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders.
She has also landed roles in Olivia Wilde's psychological thriller film Don't Worry Darling with Harry Styles and Florence Pugh.
On TV, she has also been seen in Facebook Watch's teen drama series SKAM Austin and Sugar, Apple TV+'s thriller starring Colin Farrell.

Tom Cruise's girlfriend Ana de Armas has threesome on the beach in terrifying new movie

's new girlfriend Ana de Armas has a fresh film coming out on August 22. On Friday a first look at the Cuban bombshell was shared as she appears dramatically different in the poster for the movie Eden, which is shockingly based on a true story. De Armas is glammed up to the nines with heavy makeup and a cute bob haircut that is styled just so. Also in the new trailer, the star is seen having a threesome with two men on the beach. The 37-year-old is starring in Eden from acclaimed director Ron Howard and she has some pretty bigtime costars: Sydney Sweeney, Jude Law, Vanessa Kirby and Daniel Bruhl. The film sounds twisted and terrifying as a group of people try to get along on a remote island even though the dead bodies keep piling up. 'We hunt, we fight, we kill,' says Law's character in the most recent trailer that sees de Armas' character as a wicked villain hell bent on ruling the island. The upcoming movie 'unravels the shocking true story of a group of disillusioned outsiders who abandon modern society in search of a new beginning. 'Settling on a remote, uninhabited island, their utopian dream quickly unravels as they discover that the greatest threat isn't the brutal climate or deadly wildlife, but each other. 'What follows is a chilling descent into chaos where tensions spiral, desperation takes hold, and a twisted power struggle leads to betrayal, violence, and the deaths of half the colony.' Last month it was reported that Cruise has been an 'incredible mentor' to de Armas. The Oblivion actor and the brunette have a 'special work relationship' and the actress has 'prepped' all summer for their first project together: a supernatural ocean thriller called Deeper. A source told People: 'Tom is crazy hardworking and she's very excited to work with him. She calls it an opportunity of a lifetime.' Tom and Ana have been romantically linked to each other since Valentine's Day. The source shared: 'Tom is an incredible mentor to Ana. She has nothing but amazing things to say about him.' Tom is still one of Hollywood's most bankable stars, and he's never lost his passion for filmmaking. The actor recently admitted that he's fulfilling a 'life-long dream' by working in the movie business. Jude Law is seen left with Vanessa Kirby right Daniel Bruhl left and Sydney Sweeney right in the film He told Extra: 'It's such a privilege to do what I do. It's been a life-long dream of mine to be able to do this and to make movies... I truly, I love it. That is my, I don't know, it's not what I do, it's who I am. It is my honor to entertain.' This comes after Cruise visited de Armas at her $7 million home in Vermont. In late July they were seen holding hands as they walked through the town of Woodstock where they picked up ice cream cones. The 63-year-old Top Gun actor had on a blue T-shirt and jeans with a cap as she was in a white T-shirt and dark jeans with her brunette hair in a ponytail as they seemed very into each other. The actress quietly purchased the Vermont property in November 2022 after her whirlwind romance with Deep Water co-star Ben Affleck. The Ballerina actress has been living in Vermont ever since with her two dogs Salsita and Elvis. 'Ana loves being at her home in Vermont because it's away from all the frenetic energy of Los Angeles and New York City, it's a place where she can really unwind from the stress of Hollywood,' an insider told Daily Mail. 'It's a solid sign that she is serious about Tom that she takes him to her tucked-away sanctuary because it means so much to her.' Vermont is a state in the northeastern United States, known for its natural landscape, which is primarily forested. Part of the New England region, it's also known for being home to more than 100 19th-century covered wooden bridges. The remote mansion offers six bedrooms and eight bathrooms. The generous 30-acre spot also boasts mountain views, open meadows, forests, trails and a swimming pool. According to the listing, the home was sold fully furnished. It is not known if the Bond girl changed up the pieces. De Armas had reportedly previously lived with her former boyfriend, Affleck, in his luxe $20 million home in LA's Pacific Palisades, after putting her own Venice Beach property on the market. The pair were seen in Los Angeles together plenty during the pandemic lockdown, as they routinely walked their dogs. She left LA because 'it became a little bit too much. There's no escape. There's no way out,' she has said in the past. She also said Hollywood made her 'anxious' because in LA, there is 'always the feeling of something that you don't have, something missing.' The couple, who had met on the set of Deep Water, broke up in January 2021. De Armas went on to date Tinder VP Paul Boukadakis, while Affleck we d then divorced Jennifer Lopez.

Home Alone director reveals why a reboot would be a huge ‘mistake'

Chris Columbus has shed light on why Home Alone 'should be left alone' and not rebooted. The iconic Christmas film was released in 1990 and catapulted Macaulay Culkin to superstardom as youngster Kevin McCallister, who is left to fend for himself when his family accidentally go on holiday without him. His quick-thinking saves the day when he's forced to go up against bumbling burglars Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern), who learn the hard way not to mess with kids during the holidays. The movie was a huge success and went on to spawn an equally epic sequel the following year – with Disney dropping a fresh take on the classic in 2021. However, when questioned on whether he would want to see any further remakes, director Chris insisted that it would be a 'mistake' to go back. Appearing at the premiere for his new Netflix movie, The Thursday Murder Club, he told Entertainment Tonight: 'I think Home Alone really exists not as this timepiece, but it was very special moment. You can't really recapture that. 'I think it's a mistake to try to go back and recapture something we did 35 years ago. I think it should be left alone.' Sharing his surprise that the movie is so beloved more than three decades on, he added: 'When we were making Home Alone, we wanted people to still enjoy the movie 20 years down the road, but we had no concept that it would still be this locomotive that keeps keeps going after all these years. 'It's a very nostalgic experience for a lot of people, it's great.' The franchise was remade in 2021 with Archie Yates playing youngster Max, who – like Kevin – was accidentally left behind when his family swanned off to Japan. He was having the time of his life with his new-found freedom until a couple set their sights on his home, hoping to retrieve a priceless heirloom. Home Sweet Home Alone didn't quite capture the magic of the original film, and was brutally panned by both fans and professionals. More Trending It currently commands a 13% Rotten Tomatoes score from the audience, compared to a slightly higher critics mark of 15%. 'A disgrace to Home Alone,' viewer BlueTop B fumed, as Amilia P agreed: 'One of the worst movies I've ever seen.' 'It really is very remarkably bad,' Tim L complained. As Logan D added: 'If I could give it zero stars I would, just watch the original.' Got a story? Ryan Reynolds told football club about to have 'bigger and more special' rise than Wrexham

Ryan Reynolds told football club about to have 'bigger and more special' rise than Wrexham The owner of a non-league football club claims their rapid rise is more remarkable than Wrexham's, despite the Red Dragons registering three consecutive promotions Ryan Reynolds has been told Truro City's achievements are "more special" than Wrexham's (Image: Jon Hobley/MI News/NurPhoto via Getty Images) Wrexham's Hollywood owners have been warned that the achievements of a non-league football club could soon eclipse their own. ‌ Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac have led the Red Dragons to unprecedented success in the last four years after registering three promotions in a row. The two actors have turned the North Wales outfit from National League nearly men to a Championship team with ambitions of reaching the Premier League in the near future. ‌ However, the owner of National League side Truro City has now claimed their rise is "bigger" and "more special" than Wrexham's. Canadian businessman Eric Perez took over the club in November 2023 as part of the Ontario Inc consortium. ‌ Truro won the National League South title in April this year during the new owners' first full season at the helm. In doing so, they became the first club from Cornwall to gain promotion to the non-league's top tier, and Perez thinks that makes their accomplishments more notable than Wrexham's. "I think what we're doing is even more special than what they've done," Perez told BBC Radio Cornwall. "There are, at the end of the day, five league clubs from Wales. "There's only one club in Cornwall that's even close to the Football League. If we could get there, it would be something that would change Cornwall forever. Article continues below Truro City's owner claims taking the Cornish side to the National League is bigger than Wrexham's achievements (Image: Hugh) "It would weave a patch into the cultural tapestry of a place that has been alive and vibrant for 3,000 years. To be able to do something like that is, to me, what life is all about, so I actually feel like this is bigger than Wrexham could ever be." As well as achieving success on the pitch, Perez and Truro's other investors have been busy improving the club's infrastructure. A new stadium was built on the edge of the city around a year ago to host the team's matches, with a further expansion taking place over the summer. ‌ Unlike Reynolds and Mac, Perez has previous experience of running sports clubs, having owned Cornwall's rugby league side and also had links with Toronto Wolfpack. While Wrexham's meteoric rise might have attracted the attention of King Charles, who visited the Racecourse Ground in December 2022, Truro have their own royal supporter. Prince William was among the people who wrote to the club to wish them good luck for the new season. Article continues below Perez said: "It's just been such a journey. I remember when we first took over the club and we set out some goals, no-one really paid attention. I think everyone's paying attention now, because we are really on the cusp of something huge here playing our first home National League match. "It's been a super hectic off-season. First of all, we've had a stadium renovation that we've done, building a new main stand to accommodate what is now the requirements for this league. Then obviously transitioning the club from hybrid to full-time professional, that's been massive." Whether Truro go on to reach the same heights as Wrexham remains to be seen. But Perez insists he's happy for the club to consolidate its place in the National League for the time being.
