Month-long campaign to make yoga integral part of everyday lives of people, says A.P. Health Minister

The month-long government campaign, Yogandhra, aims at making yoga an integral part of everyone's lives, said Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Satya Kumar Yadav on Wednesday (June 18).
Participating in the prize distribution ceremony for the winners of the State-level yoga competitions held as part of the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram in Vijayawada, the Minister said that thanks to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, yoga has reached the people of 175 countries. He also lauded Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for taking a step further and organising month-long yoga programmes in the State.
He said as part of the campaign, yoga programmes were held at 103 tourist destinations in the State, and registrations has reached 2.3 crore against the expected 2 crore.
Later in the day, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Cinematography Kandula Durgesh said focussing on mental health is important and any goal can be achieved if there is mental peace. Yoga helps in keeping oneself composed, he added. The Minister said he was happy to see that yoga is gaining popularity in European countries as well.
In the State-level competitions held on June 16, 17 and 18 at Don Bosco School in Guntupalli of Ibrahimpatnam mandal of NTR district, 526 people participated from across the State in 15 categories. Out of them, 193 have been declared winners. Out of the total winners, 38 were from Alluri Sitarama Raju and Parvathipuram Manyam districts.
The winners will now get an opportunity to perform yoga at the International Yoga Day celebrations in Visakhapatnam on June 21, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
AYUSH Director K. Dinesh Kumar, Secondary Health Director A. Siri, District Collector G. Lakshmisha, Joint Collector S. Ilakkiya and others presented prizes and congratulated the winners. Earlier, members from the Amaravati Yoga and Aerobics gave a performance on the theme of 'Operation Sindoor'.

Rajahmundry: Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU) marked a historic moment on the occasion of Yogandhra International Day of Yoga Celebrations 2025 by organizing one of the largest yoga gatherings in Andhra Pradesh. A total of 16,123 students from over 400 constituent and affiliated colleges participated in the mass yoga demonstration held at the AKNU grounds. The event, led by Prof. S. IDY-2025: Yoga Sangam portal crosses 4 lakh registrations, says Ayush Ministry

New Delhi: Ahead of the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025, the Yoga Sangam Portal has crossed a historic 4 lakh mark, said the Ministry of Ayush on Wednesday. Rajasthan continues to lead the movement, registering an impressive 1,38,033 organisations. It is followed by Andhra Pradesh (1,38,033), Uttar Pradesh (1,01,767), Madhya Pradesh (26,159), Gujarat (19,951), and Himachal Pradesh (12,000). "This surge in participation reflects the widespread enthusiasm for this year's theme—'Yoga for One Earth, One Health'—a message that aligns yoga with global sustainability and personal well-being," the Ministry said. Creating a historic milestone in promoting holistic health and well-being, Yoga Sangam will be hosted on June 21 from 6:30 am to 7:45 am. The synchronised Yoga demonstration will unfold simultaneously at lakhs of locations across the country. The most illustrious showcase of this nationwide movement will take place in Visakhapatnam, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead more than 5 lakh yoga enthusiasts in performing yoga. The IDY events will be held across the snow-capped mountains of Ladakh to the sunlit beaches of Kerala, from school playgrounds and office lawns to railway stations and historic temple courtyards From IITs and IIMs to grassroots NGOs and leading corporates, institutions across sectors are embracing the call to action. The Ministry noted that these events would be tracked online through a facility on the yoga portal, wherein aspiring organisations can register their proposals to register an IDY event. To participate, citizens can visit the Ayush Ministry's website and register as a group or organisation. After conducting the Yoga Sangam event on June 21, participation details can be uploaded and the official Certificate of Appreciation received. "Let us unite through yoga—for health, harmony, and a better tomorrow," the Ministry said.
