As heavy rains continue to wash Mumbai, a touching video of police officials rescuing school children trapped in a waterlogged street has won hearts across the city. Many citizens and celebrities praised the police for their brave and timely action. Television actress Dipika Kakar took to her Instagram account to express her appreciation for the same. Dipika, best known for her famous role in Sasural Simar Ka, took to her social media to applaud the officers for their selfless service. Sharing the viral video on her story, she wrote, 'Mumbai Police, this is so heartwarming to watch! A big salute to these policemen!!!' In the video, which has been widely shared online, police officials can be seen wading through waist deep water near King's Circle to rescue students from Don Bosco School in Matunga. Their school bus had broken down due to heavy flooding, leaving seven children and two staff members stranded in the bus. The officers, wearing yellow raincoats, stepped in to carry the children to safety. The children were later reported to be taken to a nearby police station where they waited for their parents. Despite the unfortunate situation, many young kids appeared cheerful with backpacks and water bottles still hanging around their necks. Mumbai: As Mumbai battles rain chaos, a heartwarming video of cops rescuing children from a stranded school bus is making the rounds on social media. Seven students and two women staff members of Don Bosco School in Matunga were stranded when the bus shut down on a waterlogged road. As the staff dialled for help, cops from a nearby police station came forward and carried the children to safety. A video, which is now circulating on social media, shows the bus stranded near King's Circle. Policemen in yellow raincoats are seen carrying the children through waist-deep water. The children were taken to the police station to wait for their parents to come and take them home. Their bags on their backs and their water bottles around their necks, most of the little ones looked quite excited as the cops, mindful of the inundated surface, gently carried them to safety. An earlier video shared by news agency IANS had shown the children stranded in the bus after it broke down. The school staff accompanying them were seen dialling for help. They said seven children were on the bus, which had broken down. Help arrived soon after. Once inside the police station, the cops gave biscuits to the children to keep them full till their parents came to take them home. Citizens have also been asked to contact the BMC helpline 1916 in case of an emergency. Several areas are waterlogged and massive traffic jams have been reported as Mumbai and its surrounding areas received heavy rain this morning. According to officials, the Maximum City has recorded over 54 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours, while the eastern and western suburbs recorded 72 mm and 65 mm of rainfall. The bad weather has also impacted air traffic. Many flights have been delayed, although airport authorities have not specified a number. Nine go-arounds -- when a pilot chooses to abort a landing and try again-- have been reported and at least one flight has been diverted. According to plane tracker Flightradar24, there is an average 54-minute delay in all flights out of Bombay. Local trains, considered Mumbai's lifeline, are running late by 15 to 20 minutes, according to several reports.

Month-long campaign to make yoga integral part of everyday lives of people, says A.P. Health Minister

The month-long government campaign, Yogandhra, aims at making yoga an integral part of everyone's lives, said Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Satya Kumar Yadav on Wednesday (June 18). Participating in the prize distribution ceremony for the winners of the State-level yoga competitions held as part of the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram in Vijayawada, the Minister said that thanks to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, yoga has reached the people of 175 countries. He also lauded Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for taking a step further and organising month-long yoga programmes in the State. He said as part of the campaign, yoga programmes were held at 103 tourist destinations in the State, and registrations has reached 2.3 crore against the expected 2 crore. Later in the day, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Cinematography Kandula Durgesh said focussing on mental health is important and any goal can be achieved if there is mental peace. Yoga helps in keeping oneself composed, he added. The Minister said he was happy to see that yoga is gaining popularity in European countries as well. In the State-level competitions held on June 16, 17 and 18 at Don Bosco School in Guntupalli of Ibrahimpatnam mandal of NTR district, 526 people participated from across the State in 15 categories. Out of them, 193 have been declared winners. Out of the total winners, 38 were from Alluri Sitarama Raju and Parvathipuram Manyam districts. The winners will now get an opportunity to perform yoga at the International Yoga Day celebrations in Visakhapatnam on June 21, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. AYUSH Director K. Dinesh Kumar, Secondary Health Director A. Siri, District Collector G. Lakshmisha, Joint Collector S. Ilakkiya and others presented prizes and congratulated the winners. Earlier, members from the Amaravati Yoga and Aerobics gave a performance on the theme of 'Operation Sindoor'.

Vijayawada: Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath has announced that he would meet the Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnav and Railway Board chairman in Delhi very soon to request for sanction of Rail Over Bridges and Rail Under Bridges in Vijayawada Central assembly constituency. The MP along with the Central MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao visited Gunadala, Madhu Nagar, Devi Nagar, Ajit Singh Nagar and other areas on Tuesday and inspected the railway tracks, traffic problem and enquired about the pending works. He visited the Don Bosco School area in Gunadala where ROB works are pending for a long time. He visited the railway track between Devi Nagar-Vambay colony, Devi Nagar-Singh Nagar Katta area. The local residents explained to the MP about the problems being faced to cross the railway tracks. The MP has assured the local people that he would meet the railway minister and Railway Board chairman and request for the allocation of funds for construction of the Rail Over Bridge and Railway Under Bridges. Sivanath said he would discuss with the Vijayawada DRM in the meeting to be held on Wednesday on the problems of the Central constituency. The MP said Ajit Singh Nagar needs the second flyover to meet the traffic. He said the second Railway Over Bridge is related to both central and state governments. MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao said the Central constituency needs six Rail Over Bridges and three Rail Under Bridges. Later, the MP visited the Mylavaram Assembly constituency along with the MLA Vasantha Krishna Prasad. The MP has assured to develop the Kondapalli Railway station and for the halt of more trains at Rayanapadu railway station. He visited both Railway stations and spoke to the local people and passengers.
