"These two games are clearly the sort of games you get when you are in flux - you're in a holding pattern before a new manager comes in. You'd expect a different performance at Queens Park Rangers on Friday."
Dominic Dietrich and Ed Dawes are joined by former Derby County academy coach Darren Robinson and ex-Rams striker Malcolm Christie to discuss the good and bad of Derby's goalless draw with Oxford United, and what it tells a new manager once they take charge.
Includes post-match interviews with first-team coach Matt Hamshaw and defender Callum Elder.

Dak Prescott to Rams brass: 'We'll meet y'all in the NFC championship'

It may be August, but Dak Prescott already has his eyes on January. The Dallas Cowboys quarterback was an observer for the Aug. 9 matchup with the Los Angeles Rams, but he still had time to catch up with some opponents prior to the game. In fact, Prescott made something of a bold prediction to Rams brass before kickoff: Standing alongside owner Jerry Jones, the passer seemingly told Rams owner Stan Kroenke that they have a date set for January. "We'll meet y'all in the NFC championship game," Prescott seemingly told Kroenke. Dak Prescott shook hands with Rams owner Stan Kroenke, and then told him "We'll meet y'all in the NFC Championship." Should the Cowboys make it all the way to the NFC championship game, that would be quite the feat. Dallas currently owns the longest NFC championship game drought in the NFL, last appearing in the 1996 NFC championship game, which is also the last year they won it. Adding intrigue to Dallas' season is new head coach Brian Schottenheimer, who is replacing Mike McCarthy after a 7-10 season. McCarthy helped guide the Cowboys to playoff appearances in three of five seasons but failed to advance past the divisional round. The Rams knocked on the door of the NFC championship game last season, losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC divisional round. The Eagles would go on to trounce the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59. Prescott is hoping for a similar ending for his Cowboys this year – and they may have to go through the Rams to do it.

Chargers cancel joint practice with Rams because of injuries

The Chargers-Rams joint practice planned for Wednesday has been canceled as the Chargers focus on keeping their players healthy. Rams coach Sean McVay said Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh decided injury concerns were too great to justify a joint practice. "Unfortunately we'll have to cancel that practice with the Chargers," McVay said. "I think they're a little banged up. Talked to Coach Harbaugh. Bummer that we weren't able to get that done, but I totally understand, and we'll figure out a way to get great work against ourselves." The Chargers' most notable injury was to left tackle Rashawn Slater, who is out for the season with a torn patellar tendon, but he's not the only injured Charger. On Saturday multiple players limped off the practice field, including offensive lineman Branson Taylor and cornerback Donte Jackson. The Chargers were the first team to open training camp and are playing an extra preseason game because they were in the Hall of Fame Game, so Harbaugh may think his team needs some additional time off.
