‘Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion' Gets A Demo, Here Are Some Tips

Forbes9 hours ago
Following my preview write-up yesterday, Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion has a new demo available on all platforms, containing the first nine chapters of the game.
This is entirely a good thing because this demo also means players can team up online. In short, it will allow the development team to stress test the game's network code before the game launches in September, which is obviously a good thing.
In addition, one of the reasons I didn't cover the differing performance levels between the versions of the game was that I assumed there would be a demo for everyone to check that out for themselves.
Anyway, now that the demo is out, I thought I'd share some tips to get into the game and cut through a lot of the complexity that isn't really explained when you start out.
Scan And Scavenge
The most important thing you can do in this game is to constantly scan for items in the game world. To do this, you push up on the d-pad, which sends out a pulse that highlights the items you can scavenge (in blue) and enemies (in red).

Unlock A Trivia Ladder
Unlike Armored Core, while you can buy parts and weapons from the shop in your base and in colonies around the game world, the vast majority of parts and weapons are scavenged. Moreover, no two parts are the same, so scavenging similar parts will often result in them having different stats.
Supply Bases Refill Ammo And Femto For Free
You will notice a bunch of supply bases around the world, and you can build your own, too. While you can recover your health, for a cost, the moment you access the Supply Base, it will automatically refill your ammo and Femto for free.
You can also upgrade bases with scrap, which reduces the cost to 'recover' your health.
Supply Bases also offer a lot of extra functionality that means you don't have to go back to your base every time you want to change your Arsenal or Fusion skills, among other things.
Mine The Metal Flowers, Especially The Sparkly Ones
There are strange-looking metal flowers dotted all over the game's landscape. You do a little mining mini game to smash them up and get resources. Many of these resources are used to Develop parts and weapons.
The sparkly flowers also offer expansion slot upgrades. These are crucial for all parts in the game, as the Attachments you can use can drastically change their potency or even the ability to equip them within your Arsenal's memory limit.
Scrap And Femto
This game uses Femto a lot more than the first game, and you can resupply that by destroying the red Femto crystals dotted all over the ground. You also have Femto trees that you can stand next to and refill your Femto gauge.
The other main resource is Scrap, and these look like purple Bismuth crystals. I cannot stress this enough; scavenge as much Scrap as possible. You will need it to upgrade your base and all sorts of other things. Unlike money, it's rarely given out on missions, so the more scrap you scavenge, the better off you will be.
Replay The Boss Fights For Extra Parts
The bosses you encounter, both Neun and Colossus, drop parts and other items once killed. However, each of these has multiple drops, so it's a good idea to replay them in the Combat Simulator at the back of your base.
This is especially true for the parts you can Develop from the cores of each boss. These Immortal-infused parts and weapons are often extremely powerful, so it's worth mining the bosses for their cores and other items.
Ice Cream Offers More Than You Think
Going to the Ice Cream shop in your base allows you to give buffs to your character for a limited time. Once you fill out the stamp card and reach the Silver level, it becomes a lot more than just an Ice Cream shop.
That should be enough for now, without spoiling anything major. The main thing is to scan, scavenge, and hoard scrap. It will make everything a lot easier as the game progresses in difficulty, as you will have the resources at hand to tackle whatever comes your way.
In the meantime, feel free to check out my interview with the game's producer, Kenichiro Tsukuda.
Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion will be released on September 5 for Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

Overlooked LinkedIn Profile Features Every Business Owner Should Use

LinkedIn is no longer just for employees looking to find their next role. LinkedIn is now one of the most powerful platforms for business owners and entrepreneurs looking to grow their personal brand, get visible in front of customers and people of influence, and generate business leads. Optimizing your LinkedIn profile for viewing by other users is essential. It should showcase who you are, what you offer, and a call to action (i.e. What do you want visitors to do when they view your profile?). However, just filling out your bio and adding your work history is not enough. There are profile features available that are often overlooked and underused, but are highly effective for showcasing your personal brand and building trust with potential customers. It's important to use them. Let's break them down. Feature Your Most Important Work LinkedIn allows you to showcase links to articles, case studies, websites, videos, or lead magnets in the 'featured' section of your profile. This section is powerful for driving traffic and sharing your expertise. When potential customers visit your profile, feature something that helps them learn more about you and your business. This could be your best case studies, or an engaging video demonstrating what you do and how your business helps people. If you've been featured in the media, this is also a great place to share links to stories or podcast episodes. Build Trust With Recommendations You already know that testimonials from customers build instant trust. But did you know that you can give and receive 'recommendations' natively on your LinkedIn profile? Recommendations carry significant social proof because they're done by verified LinkedIn users (usually a current or past client, colleague, or manager). They're a great tool to highlight your skills and achievements, and can offer deeper insight into what you're like to work with. Recommendations boost your credibility - so don't be afraid to ask for them. Secure Your Custom URL When you first create a LinkedIn profile, your URL will be generic (and contain a long list of letters and numbers). Fortunately, you're able to edit the URL of your profile and customize it to you, which is a much more professional look for business owners. Using your full name is most common, but make sure you choose whatever name your network knows you by. This helps you be discoverable when people are searching for you online. Add Relevant Skills And Get Endorsed Many business owners list skills on their LinkedIn profiles, but don't prioritize the most relevant and up-to-date ones. Add relevant skills and reorder them to ensure the most important appear at the top. Other LinkedIn users can then give you 'endorsements' for these skills, so don't be afraid to ask your network for those, too. Just like recommendations, third-party endorsements help strengthen trust in your personal brand and expertise. Upload A Custom Cover Photo This might seem basic, but it's still one of the most important features on your LinkedIn profile. Your cover photo is prime real estate and a key way to drive home your personal brand and professionalism, yet many business owners leave this space blank or generic. So, always use a customized cover photo. You could add branded visuals, a tagline, media features, or a call-to-action. The cover photo is the first impression you'll give viewers, so make it count. Every business owner should make the most of their LinkedIn profile. Use the various features available to give yourself the best chance of converting your viewers into leads or customers. A highly optimized profile could be the difference between a lead making contact with you - or not.

Meet vibe coding's nerdy but sane sibling

By now you've probably heard of 'vibe coding': creating software from scratch by prompting AI to generate the source code for you, instead of writing it yourself. The promise of spinning up real working apps from nothing but mushy human language is tantalizing—and companies such as Lovable and Replit have already ridden it to billion-dollar valuations. There's just one catch. For a wide swath of businesses with straightforward but mission-critical needs, vibe coding doesn't actually work. AI still hallucinates, which means the code it generates is often sloppy and occasionally downright malicious. It can't be trusted to be secure or consistent. No wonder that according to one major survey, 72% of professional software developers don't use vibe coding tools on the job. A New York-based startup called Aboard is pursuing a different approach. Call it 'vibe product management.' Instead of using AI to jump right into generating code (and holding on for dear life), business leaders can work with 'solution engineers' at Aboard who use AI to turbocharge the planning and discovery phases of enterprise software development—the lumbering, unsexy, but essential work of deciding what components to code and how to assemble them reliably. If vibe coding is like asking a robot architect for a summer house and watching it start to pour concrete for a pool you may never have asked for, Aboard's approach is all about making the robot focus on drawing up the blueprints first. It's still faster, but also saner.
