Mob lynching sparks political blame game
Mangaluru: The murder of Ashraf near Kudupu is an act by evil forces trying to disrupt peace in society, said district minister
Dinesh Gundu Rao
. The minister wrote on X that
Dakshina Kannada
district was once known as a land of harmony and unity. However, for several years now, some anti-social elements have been attempting to destroy the communal peace of the district. The recent incident in Kudupu is part of this pattern. In the aftermath of this incident, there is a possibility of attempts being made to spread hatred. "Police must ensure that such attempts are not allowed," Rao said.
"Some with vested interests are trying to tarnish the image of our govt by provoking communal clashes. The people of Dakshina Kannada must be aware of these conspiracies. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that Dakshina Kannada, known for its harmony, remains untarnished. Our govt will not tolerate any attempt to take the law into one's own hands, disturb public peace, or incite communal disharmony. We want to send a clear warning to anti-social elements that we have zero tolerance for such actions. Our govt is committed to governance guided by the ideals of Basavanna, who said "There is no religion greater than compassion". That ideal must not be undermined. Peace in society must not be disturbed. This is my sincere appeal," the minister wrote on X.
Meanwhile, Mangaluru City North MLA Dr Bharath Shetty Y said there is an attempt being made to falsely implicate Hindu youths. He claimed police are being pressured politically, and under the guise of investigation, youths are being forced to accept false charges. Shetty said some organisations and political parties are staging protests as part of a political strategy and accused the police department of acting like a puppet of the ruling party. He warned that innocent Hindu youths are being deliberately trapped in false cases without any valid reason and warned that the police station may be gheraoed in response.
He further said in the current Congress-led govt in the state, anti-nationals are being treated with royal respect, while patriots are being treated as criminals.

HC tells CBSE to rectify student records by updating official DoB
New Delhi: Delhi High Court has emphasised the "presumption of correctness" attached to official birth certificates and directed the Central Board of Secondary Education ( CBSE ) to amend a student's academic records accordingly. A division bench comprising Justices Subramonium Prasad and Harish V Shankar, in a recent order, underlined the "imminent need" to ensure consistency across official documents. This, the court said, not only affirms the accuracy of personal details in public records but also protects a citizen's identity—of which the date of birth is a crucial component. "A citizen of this country is entitled to a true and correct narration of all necessary and relevant particulars in the public documents that pertain to them. CBSE is a record keeper of considerable importance," the court observed, while dismissing CBSE's appeal against a single judge's order to correct the date of birth in certificates issued in 1999. The bench noted that documents like official birth certifiscates, issued by a competent authority, carry a statutory presumption of correctness under Indian law. It further remarked that CBSE had provided "no cogent reason" to disregard the birth certificate in this case. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Simple. The court reiterated that the matriculation certificate is widely regarded as "unassailable proof of date of birth", and citizens are entitled to have all public documents reflect accurate and consistent information. The plea before the court involved a student seeking rectification of her date of birth in CBSE records based on a birth certificate issued by the Greater Chennai Corporation. The HC noted that the genuineness of the birth certificate had not been disputed. It also observed that discrepancies between CBSE record and other official documents such as the individual's passport could cause serious complications, including for employment or immigration. In its defense, CBSE argued that the request for correction was filed beyond the time limit prescribed under its examination bye-laws, and that it no longer retained relevant records more than a decade later. However, the single judge had earlier ruled that the incorrect date of birth in the CBSE records appeared to result from a genuine mistake—not a clerical or typographical error. Finding no fault in that conclusion, the HC upheld the single judge's decision and dismissed the CBSE's appeal. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here . AGTF seizes marijuana worth 2cr, arrests five for smuggling in Jaipur
1 2 3 4 Jaipur: In a major crackdown on interstate drug smuggling, Rajasthan's Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Friday seized 424 kg of marijuana concealed in a truck and arrested five individuals, including the alleged kingpin in Jaipur. The seized consignment, valued at approximately Rs 2 crore in the international market, was being trafficked from Chhattisgarh to Jaipur under the guise of a medical delivery. According to ADG (Crime and AGTF) Dinesh M N, the AGTF team intercepted a Scorpio SUV at the Shivdaspura toll, which was found escorting a mini-truck. Based on a tip-off, the police set up a blockade at multiple locations. The truck was later seized in the Chaksu police station area, loaded with sacks of marijuana hidden beneath boxes labelled as medicines. The arrested accused include Sumer Meena (48), the alleged ringleader and a resident of Khorabisal, Jaipur West; Narendra Singh Jat (45); Nanagram Balai (55); Deepak Gurjar (38); and Himanshu Mata (29) of Karnal, Haryana. All five were booked under the NDPS Act. DIG Yogesh Yadav and additional SP Siddhant Sharma led the operation, which was executed by a 17-member AGTF team, including inspector Subhash Singh, ASI Shankar Dayal Sharma, and head constables Kamal Singh and Shashikant. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Buy Brass Idols - Handmade Brass Statues for Home & Gifting Luxeartisanship Buy Now Undo Police said GPS devices were installed in both the SUV and the truck to coordinate the smuggling route. When the Scorpio stopped at Shivdaspura toll, the truck was still on its way to Jaipur. Upon learning about the interception, the truck drivers attempted to flee into the fields near Chaksu but were quickly arrested. A thorough search of the vehicle revealed the contraband beneath cartons of medicine. Police officials said that Sumer Meena previously managed to transport similar consignments on at least two occasions but was finally nabbed on this third run. His role in earlier drug hauls is now under further scrutiny. AGTF said it would intensify its crackdown on drug networks operating across state lines, particularly those using fake identities and medical fronts to evade detection. HC to monitor probe into drug racket involving Hoshiarpur jail officials
Chandigarh: Taking cognisance of the sale of drugs within Hoshiarpur central jail in Punjab, the Punjab and Haryana high court observed that it was shocking to note that senior-most jail officials were acting as a drug mafia. The HC made it clear that it would monitor the investigation in the present case and asked SP, Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Rupnagar range, to furnish a status report on the investigation. Expressing dismay over the non-arrest of jail officials involved in the drug racket inside the jail, the HC was also of the view that it was equally shocking to note that SIM cards and mobile phones were supplied to the hardened criminals by these jail officials, and they were acting as conspirators in the drug racket. "It is equally shocking to note that the senior-most jail officials were acting as a drug mafia, and it is the fittest case for invoking the extraordinary jurisdiction of this court under Section 528 of BNS in the present case. It has been brought to the notice of this court that Baljit Singh, jail superintendent, and several other senior officials of the jail department are still at large, and the police have not been able to arrest them to further establish the links of this drug nexus in central jail, involving the high-risk prisoners," the HC observed in its detailed order released last week. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 中年以降であれば、このゲームは必須です。 BuzzDaily Winners ゲームをプレイ Undo Punjab govt has already formed an SIT headed by the Superintendent of Police (ANTF) Rupnagar and is being monitored by ADGP (ANTF) Punjab. Justice Naresh Singh Shekhawat passed these orders while dismissing the bail petition filed by two accused in this drug racket inside Hoshiarpur jail. Dismissing the plea of two accused in the case, Bagga Singh and Narvir Singh, the HC observed that the grant of concession of anticipatory bail to both petitioners would amount to denial of fair assistance to the investigating agency to probe the case seriously and effectively. Justice Shekhawat, however, made it clear that the matter has been kept alive only for the limited purpose of monitoring the investigation in the present case. While fixing the case for July 21 for further hearing, the HC observed, "It is expected that SIT shall investigate the matter fairly and impartially."
