I tried new £150 AI memory aid gizmo that records your EVERY word & then tells you off – it's clever but also terrifying
My pocket-sized tutor berated me for not giving family more of my attention, judged the way I spoke to one of my work colleagues and chastised me for not taking time to connect with my partner.

Soon, the way you live your life could be analysed like this, too.
I was one of the first in the UK to try the Limitless Pendant.
It is a discreet AI gadget you clip to your clothes that records everything said by you — and those nearby.
On sale now in the UK for £150, the little black disc provides a full transcript of your day, as well as notes and tips on how you should have behaved.

Perfect if, like me, you have a shocking memory.
But also potentially disastrous if those around you don't know from the off they are being recorded and take umbrage — as mine did!
The 3cm disc, with an inbuilt microphone, is the brainchild of American Dan Siroker, who set up Limitless five years ago.
When he put the pendants up for sale last year, they were snapped up faster than he could have imagined.

In fact, 10,000 were bought in 24 hours — and the gizmos are being delivered around the world in the next few weeks.
A bit obsessed
Dan has said the gadget can improve human intelligence by using AI to overcome the brain's limitations, specifically with memory and focus.
How to use ChatGPT for home & garden renovations without spending a penny - see how good it looks before you even start
He explained: 'It can help people live better, more productive, more self-aware lives.'
To be fair, some of its functions were quite useful.
After connecting it to an app on my phone, I could see every conversation I'd had — along with those words of advice.
When my two sons complained because they wanted to show me trainers online while I was busy making their tea, I ignored them.
The pendant later said: 'You could have tried to balance their excitement with your need to make dinner.'
And when my dad rang during office hours and I told him I had no time to talk, the pendant reminded me that family is important and I should 'fully engage' instead of concentrating so much on work.
It sounds like a great idea, in theory.
I became a bit obsessed with asking the suggested questions at the end of each day, such as, 'How could I have been more effective today at work?' or, 'How could I be more persuasive?'
But there are pitfalls.
At some points, it could not understand what I was saying and was convinced my son Harry was called Tory.
And there were times when I had zero idea what it was on about, and felt like it was nagging me.
But the biggest issue is privacy. I'd never wear it in the bedroom, and one night in the pub, I only remembered to tell my pals about it on our third round. They were raging.
Recording conversations without consent in the UK can lead to civil claims for damages and criminal prosecution.
The pendant does have a visible, white LED light.
So, according to the company, 'everyone you meet with understands that it is recording'. But as mine was clipped to my jeans, and my jumper was on top, that was impossible.
The company website suggests you broach the recording issue by saying something like: 'This conversation is important to me and I want to remember what you say without taking notes. Is it OK if I use this pendant to capture the conversation? I'm happy to share the transcript if you like.'
Clever but terrifying
Chief executive Dan reveals he does it, insisting: 'I haven't had a single person say to me, 'Oh, that's weird. Take that off'.
'It's not for everyone. Not everyone wants to be better in life. But if you do, this is magic.'
Then there's the matter of your privacy, as everything you say or do is captured.
The company says your recordings are encrypted, legally protected and safe from third-party AI providers.
Users can lock recordings on the app, and the company pledges never to access data without permission.
Dan says this is 'the future', adding: 'There will be millions, if not billions, of people on the planet wearing this, or one of our competitors' devices, in the years to come.'
While this could make me a better person, it also risks killing the art of conversation, as we all fear others might be recording us.
It could also get pricey. On the final day of my experiment, I lost the pendant.
I briefly panicked, before realising that all I had to do was check on the app when it last picked up my voice.
That was in the car. Clever — but slightly terrifying at the same time.
A week in, I felt a bit irritated by the pendant's feedback and could not wait to shove it back in its box.
With it on, it seemed like I was being spied on, which felt intrusive.
I admit it has its uses, though. And I really should call my dad.
Artificial Intelligence explained
Here's what you need to know
Artificial intelligence, also known as AI, is a type of computer software
Typically, a computer will do what you tell it to do
But artificial intelligence simulates the human mind, and can make its own deductions, inferences or decisions
A simple computer might let you set an alarm to wake you up
But an AI system might scan your emails, work out that you've got a meeting tomorrow, and then set an alarm and plan a journey for you
AI tech is often 'trained' – which means it observes something (potentially even a human) then learns about a task over time
For instance, an AI system can be fed thousands of photos of human faces, then generate photos of human faces all on its own
Some experts have raised concerns that humans will eventually lose control of super-intelligent AI
But the tech world is still divided over whether or not AI tech will eventually kill us all in a Terminator-style apocalypse

The only note is that you'll need an Apple gadget that actually supports Apple Intelligence. That includes: iPhone 15 Pro iPhone 15 Pro Max iPhone 16 iPhone 16 Plus iPhone 16 Pro iPhone 16 Pro Max iPhone 16e iPad Pro (M1 and later) iPad Air (M1 and later) iPad mini (A17 Pro) MacBook Air/Pro (M1 and later) iMac/Mac Mini (M1 and later) Mac Studio (M1 Max and later) Mac Pro (M2 Ultra) Apple AI Trick #1 – BEDTIME STORIES Your iPhone can create bedtime stories for kids. It's a perfect parenting hack. Just go into Messages, bring up the keyboard, tap on Genmoji, then create a funny character. Advertisement Maybe it's a squirrel with a shovel or an elephant in a chef's hat. This will be your character. Now go into Notes, tap on Writing Tools, then choose Compose with ChatGPT, and ask for a short story about your elephant chef – and say they're going on an adventure. It'll create the story, which you can then illustrate by dropping the Genmoji at the top. Or you could even go into Apple's Image Playground app and make a full picture, then paste that in instead. Apple interview with Greg Joz Joswiak on new artificial intelligence, screening, hold assist, carplay, liquid glass and ios updates Apple AI Trick #2 – HOLIDAY PLANNER Another easy trick is letting Apple's AI plan your holiday – or at least the itinerary. This one works on iPhone and iPad, but we tried it on Mac. Just double-click the Command button on your keyboard to bring up Siri. Advertisement Then type in your request, like asking for a three-day hiking trip in the Cotswolds. 13 You can type to Siri and ask for help with holiday planning Credit: Sean Keach 13 Siri can use ChatGPT to generate a holiday itinerary in seconds Credit: Sean Keach You could even ask for a budget-friendly holiday with cheap activities to save money. Advertisement Let Siri send your request to ChatGPT and it'll make a full itinerary that you can drop straight into a document. And you can even generate a fun AI pic to go with it too using Apple's Image Playground feature. Apple AI Trick #3 – SKETCH EXPERT I'm hopeless at drawing, but AI isn't. HOW DOES CHATGPT WORK ON IPHONE? Here's the official guidance from Apple... "Siri can tap into ChatGPT for certain requests, including questions about photos or documents," Apple explained. "And with Compose in Writing Tools, you can create and illustrate original content from scratch. "You control when ChatGPT is used and will be asked before any of your information is shared. Anyone can access ChatGPT for free, without creating an account. "ChatGPT subscribers can connect accounts to access paid features within these experiences." Picture Credit: Apple There's a clever trick that turns your own sketches into art – and it works using the Apple Pencil on an iPad. Advertisement Draw something rough in the Notes app – we sketched a terrarium – and then write what it is next to it. Now go into the Apple Pencil menu, choose the AI button, and circle your creation. And in just a few seconds, it'll transform what you've drawn into a proper sketch. You can even swipe through several options to find the perfect one. 13 Even a very average sketch can be transformed using Apple's AI Credit: Sean Keach Advertisement 13 You can convert your drawings into impressive pieces of art in the Notes app Credit: Sean Keach It's a nice way to illustrate your notes quickly. Another handy tip: if you draw a shape like a square, circle, or star, and leave the Apple Pencil tip pressed to the screen at the end, it'll neaten it up for you. So your rough circle will snap to become perfectly round in an instant. This also works with drawing arrows too. Advertisement Apple AI Trick #4 – PHOTO CLEAN-UP Fourth is Clean Up, which is built into Apple's default Photos app on your iPhone. 13 You can use Clean Up to remove almost any object from a scene Credit: Sean Keach It's a handy way to scrub unwanted objects from your pics. Maybe you've snapped Big Ben but there's a tourist in the way, or someone has photobombed your perfect selfie. Advertisement Just go into the photo, tap on the edit button, and then choose the Clean Up option. Then you can tap on, rub over, or circle the object that you want to delete. 13 If you spot something unwanted in your photo, just get rid of it virtually Credit: Sean Keach 13 Just circle, scrub or tap the object that you want to remove Credit: Sean Keach Advertisement 13 Clean Up will delete the object in seconds – replacing it with background Credit: Sean Keach Give it a few seconds and it should vanish from view, replaced by what the AI thinks should've been in the spot. If it doesn't work perfectly on the first go, you can give it a few more passes with Clean Up to get it right. And you can always revert back to the original image at any time if you don't like the edited version. Advertisement Apple AI Trick #5 – SHOPPING HACK Lastly, there's a handy trick called Visual Intelligence that's great for shopping. First, you'll want to load it up. One way is to go into Settings > Action Button and set it to activate from your Action Button. Or if you have an iPhone with a Camera Control button, you can just hold that down instead. Advertisement Now snap a pic of an object. We tried it on a Labubu, which is a massively popular collectible toy. 13 You can scan almost anything using Visual Intelligence – and then see if Google can find it online Credit: Sean Keach 13 You can find the cheapest prices or lookalike alternatives for loads of products, including clothes and furniture Credit: Sean Keach But it also works just fine on clothes or furniture that you like too. Advertisement The AI will identify what it's seeing, and then show you a load of places that you can buy it online. You can then find the best price for the exact item you're looking at. And it'll usually also surface similar-looking items if you snap clothes or furniture, so it's a clever way to find cheap 'dupes' of expensive items that you like.

Major broadband provider is giving millions a huge Wi-Fi boost that will instantly speed up your devices
ONE of the UK's biggest broadband providers is preparing to unleash faster speeds and better Wi-Fi connectivity - all without needing to change your broadband package. Insiders from BT-owned EE have revealed to The Sun that a new router is on the way for some customers. 2 New router expected later this year 2 Slimmer new design makes it more adaptable around the home The firm already has a super-fast Wi-Fi 7 Smart WiFi Pro router for its top end 1.6Gbps package. But later this year a hub for mid-tier speeds is expected to launch. Sources say this will be for Full Fibre 500Mbps and 900Mbps packages. Wi-Fi 7 is the latest standard, which enable faster speeds around the home and crucially, a more reliable connection to all your gizmos. That's because it can handle being connected to more gadgets at once, which is especially important given how many we use and have running in our lives these days. It only works on products that can support Wi-Fi 7, such as the PS5 Pro and the latest iPhones. The new router also features a much slimmer design so it takes up less space. It'll be available to new and existing EE Broadband customers. However, it's not expected to come as a free upgrade. For now, exact pricing and release date are unknown so we will have to see what EE has to say later this year. Soaring temperatures could affect your Wi-Fi, experts warn – how to stop your router overheating & avoid speed slow down

Musk calls Altman a 'liar', threatens to sue Apple
Elon Musk has accused Apple of unfairly favoring ChatGPT on its App Store and threatened legal action, triggering a fiery exchange with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman on Tuesday. "Apple is behaving in a manner that makes it impossible for any AI company besides OpenAI to reach #1 in the App Store, which is an unequivocal antitrust violation," Mr Musk said in a post on his social media network X, without providing evidence to back his claim. "xAI will take immediate legal action," he added, referring to his own artificial intelligence company. X users responded by pointing out that China's DeepSeek AI hit the top spot in the App Store early this year, and Perplexity AI recently ranked number one in the App Store in India. DeepSeek and Perplexity compete with OpenAI and Musk's startup xAI. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman called the accusation "remarkable" in a response on X yesterday, adding that Musk was alleged to "manipulate X to benefit himself and his own companies and harm his competitors and people he doesn't like." Mr Musk then called Altman a "liar" in a heated exchange, prompting the OpenAI boss to ask whether Musk would sign a sworn legal statement declaring that he had never ordered changes to the X algorithm to harm competitors or help his own companies. OpenAI and xAI both released new versions of their AI assistants, ChatGPT and Grok, in the past week. App Store rankings listed ChatGPT as the top free iPhone app yesterday, with Grok in fifth place. Apple did not respond immediately to a request for comment. Factors going into App Store rankings include user engagement, reviews and the number of downloads. AI wars OpenAI and Apple announced an alliance in June last year to enhance iPhones and other devices with ChatGPT features. ChatGPT-5 rolled out free to the nearly 700 million people who use it weekly, OpenAI said in a briefing with journalists last week. Tech industry rivals Amazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft and xAI have been pouring billions of dollars into artificial intelligence since the blockbuster launch of the first version of ChatGPT in late 2022. Chinese startup DeepSeek shook up the AI sector early this year with a model that delivers high performance using less costly chips. OpenAI filed counterclaims against multi-billionaire Musk in April, accusing its former co-founder of waging a "relentless campaign" to damage the organization after it achieved success without him. OpenAI alleged in legal documents filed at the time in the northern California federal court that Musk became hostile toward the company after abandoning it years before its breakthrough achievements with ChatGPT. The lawsuit was another round in a bitter feud between the generative AI (genAI) start-up and the world's richest person, who accused OpenAI of betraying its founding mission in a lawsuit last year. OpenAI alleged in its countersuit that Musk "made it his project to take down OpenAI, and to build a direct competitor that would seize the technological lead - not for humanity but for Elon Musk."
