Parvati and Duryodhan, who had moved to the NCR city from Odisha two years ago in search of better opportunities, were enjoying the pleasant weather on their terrace around 10.30pm on July 15. What began as innocent banter turned tragic when Parvati climbed onto the parapet and playfully asked her husband, "If I fall, will you save me?"
As she attempted to step down, Parvati lost her footing and began to slip.
Duryodhan (28) lunged forward and managed to grab her hand, holding on to her desperately as she dangled from the edge.
For nearly two minutes, he called out for help, but with no one around, his grip eventually gave way.
And Parvati fell to the ground below.
Despite Duryodhan's frantic calls for help and the swift arrival of a police team along with an ambulance, Parvati succumbed to her injuries within half an hour of being wheeled into a private hospital. She had suffered severe internal damage.
Cops at DLF-3 police station said they had initiated an inquiry into the "tragic incident".
"No, there were no signs of foul play. Marks on the husband's hands and chest support his statement that he tried to save his wife. He broke down saying he lost everything when we questioned him about the sequence of events," an officer said.
The couple, who had been married for around two and a half years, worked at a private firm in the city and had been building a new life together.
It was around 10pm that they had gone to the terrace of their rented apartment to escape the heat when the incident occurred.

After an autopsy, Parvati's body was handed over to her family. Devastated by the loss, Duryodhan posted a heartbreaking message on Instagram on Saturday, pleading for his wife to return.
"You are my life, you are everything to me. Please come back. I'm waiting to hear your voice, feel your presence, your touch."

Four held for Gondal petrol pump shooting
1 2 3 Rajkot: Four contracted shooters have been arrested for the shooting incident at a petrol pump near Ribda in Gondal taluka of Rajkot district last week. The person who allegedly plotted the shooting as an intimidation tactic, Hardik Jadeja, is still at large. Jadeja, who has a criminal history, took responsibility for the shooting in an Instagram post, saying he had hired shooters to execute this plan. The shooting occurred after midnight on July 23, when two masked men rode up on a motorcycle and one of them began shooting at the petrol pump. Javed Khokhar (38), a worker at the pump, later lodged a complaint against the two at Gondal Taluka police station under Sections 109 (attempted murder) and 54 (abetment) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. Police teams were later dispatched to Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh after receiving intelligence that the suspects had left the state. Four men were arrested from Mumbai and Agra — Irfan Qureshi (32), Abhishek Kumar Agrawal (28), Pranshu Kumar Agrawal (29) and Vipin Kumar Jat (26). Weapons and the getaway motorcycle were also recovered. According to inspector Vijay Odedra of Rajkot Rural LCB, Vipin Kumar Jat did the shooting while Qureshi drove the motorcycle. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is this legal? Investigators said Hardik Jadeja met Vipin three months ago in Agra and offered him Rs 5 lakh to carry out the attack, using the latter's mother's cancer treatment as leverage. Abhishek and Pranshu, also present at the Agra hotel, were offered Rs 1 lakh each to assist. Hardik had reportedly met Qureshi during a prior stint in Sabarmati Jail. Together with the others, they coordinated and executed the shooting. Police records show Qureshi has 27 criminal cases in Ahmedabad, mainly burglaries, and was booked under the PASA Act four times between 2019 and 2024. Hardik Jadeja is accused in 11 cases across Rajkot, Junagadh and Surat, including murder, assault, robbery, fraud and conspiracy. Hardik posted a video after the shooting, not only taking credit for the act but also threatening Rajdipsinh Jadeja — the grandson of former MLA Mahipatsinh Jadeja — and D V Rana alias Pintoo Khatadi. Police say the shooting was driven by personal enmity. According to police sources, Rajdipsinh lives next to the petrol pump and Hardik wanted to intimidate him with the shooting near his home. The hunt for Hardik Jadeja continues. Police said they will need to interrogate him to know what motivated him to carry out the shooting.

Deceptive Instagram resort offers ruins vacation plan
Rajkot: Planning a family vacation in at a resort? Make sure you do your homework before grabbing one of those tempting getaway deals promoted on Instagram. A village officer serving at Mota Khijadiya village of Tankara taluka in Morbi learned this the hard way, losing Rs 50,000 to an offer for a holiday package advertised on the social media platform. Ravikumar Gosai, 35, was lured by the offer of a 25-night package with meals, advertised as being valid for five years. In the complaint filed at Tankara police station, Gosai said he came across the Instagram ad offering the package on Feb 9. After clicking on the ad and entering his mobile number, he received a call the next day from an unknown number, offering him the 25-night package, usable at several resorts, for Rs 50,000. He was sent a QR code to make the payment, which he did in two instalments. When planning a family trip to Jammu and Kashmir, Gosai emailed the given address with the booking details. His application was rejected, citing hotel unavailability. Attempts to resolve the issue through the company's helpline proved futile. Gosai commented about his experience on the resort's Instagram post and found several others who said they had fallen victims to the same scam. This prompted him to report the matter to police. The complaint was filed under Sections 316(2) (cheating by personation through electronic means) and 318(4) (dishonest inducement in online transactions) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant sections of the IT Act.

The French daily further reported that Nanterre prosecutor's office has formally requested that Hakimi to be charged before the Hauts-de-Seine departmental criminal court. Although the mover doesn't hold Hakimi guilty but it indicated that there is enough evidence at the prosecutors' disposal to warrant a trail. The formal request was signed on August 1, more than a year of investigation. Did Achraf Hakimi rape the young woman? The incident dated back on February 25, 2023, when the alleged victim visited to Hakimi's residence in Boulogne-Billancourt, a suburb west of Paris in a chauffeur-driven car arranged by the PSG star.
