Deceptive Instagram resort offers ruins vacation plan
A village officer serving at Mota Khijadiya village of Tankara taluka in Morbi learned this the hard way, losing Rs 50,000 to an offer for a holiday package advertised on the social media platform.
Ravikumar Gosai, 35, was lured by the offer of a 25-night package with meals, advertised as being valid for five years.
In the complaint filed at Tankara police station, Gosai said he came across the Instagram ad offering the package on Feb 9. After clicking on the ad and entering his mobile number, he received a call the next day from an unknown number, offering him the 25-night package, usable at several resorts, for Rs 50,000.
He was sent a QR code to make the payment, which he did in two instalments.
When planning a family trip to Jammu and Kashmir, Gosai emailed the given address with the booking details. His application was rejected, citing hotel unavailability. Attempts to resolve the issue through the company's helpline proved futile.
Gosai commented about his experience on the resort's Instagram post and found several others who said they had fallen victims to the same scam. This prompted him to report the matter to police.
The complaint was filed under Sections 316(2) (cheating by personation through electronic means) and 318(4) (dishonest inducement in online transactions) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant sections of the IT Act.

"There was a gradual increase of passengers density on the FOB after 8.15 pm. Many of the passengers were carrying big headloads affecting smooth movement on the FOB. 'There was a big headload falling from one of the passengers and the pressure was passed on to the stairs of PF 14/15 stairs, resulting in the tripping of passengers on the stairs. This led to an incident at 8.48 pm on FOB-3, which was limited to the stairs of FOB. Consequently, passengers fell on each other." The Minister informed the House that in the incident, 18 people lost their lives and 15 others were injured. According to Mr. Vaishnaw, an ex-gratia amount of Rs 10 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased, an amount of Rs 2.5 lakh each to the grievously injured and Rs 1 lakh each to other injured has been paid. "Accordingly, a total amount of Rs 2.01 crore has been paid to 33 victims and their family members," Mr. Vaishnaw said. The Railway Minister said the government has taken several actions to handle the heavy rush of passengers at stations, including the creation of permanent holding areas and access control measures — allowing passengers with confirmed tickets — at 73 identified stations, widening foot overbridges, installing CCTV cameras, developing war rooms at big stations, among others.

Delhi Court Issues Notice To Robert Vadra In Money Laundering Case Filed By ED
Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on Saturday issued a notice to Robert Vadra, husband of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, in connection with a money laundering complaint filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The development comes after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a new chargesheet on August 28. As part of the investigation, the ED has attached 43 immovable properties valued at Rs 37.64 crore, allegedly connected to Robert Vadra and his associated entities. Prosecution complaints have been filed against him and 10 others. The charge sheet, which pertains to an alleged illegal land deal in Shikohpur village, Gurugram, accuses Vadra and his company M/s Sky Light Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. of purchasing 3.53 acres of land through fraudulent means. The ED has already attached 43 properties allegedly linked to Vadra and his firm, worth a total of Rs 37.64 crore, as part of the ongoing investigation. The case dates back to a 2008 FIR filed by Gurugram Police, which alleged that Vadra's company purchased land from M/s Onkareshwar Properties Pvt. Ltd. for Rs 7.5 crore using a false declaration. Just a few years later, in September 2012, Sky Light Hospitality sold the same land to real estate giant DLF Ltd. for Rs 58 crore, raising serious questions about the nature and legality of the transaction. The controversy deepened when Ashok Khemka, then Director General of Land Consolidation and Land Records and Inspector-General of Registration in Haryana, cancelled the land mutation, declaring the transaction violative of state regulations. His actions at the time sparked a political firestorm and led to a prolonged legal and administrative scrutiny of land dealings involving political figures. Earlier on July 18, 2025, the Rouse Avenue Court had taken note of the ED's charge sheet and listed the matter for hearing. Presiding Special Judge Sushant Changotra had directed the court record keeper to verify all accompanying documents and provide a detailed report. The Enforcement Directorate is likely to press for further legal action in the hearing, potentially including the summoning of Vadra for questioning based on the charge sheet's findings. Opposition parties have accused the government of using investigative agencies for political purposes, while the ED maintains it is pursuing the case based on documentary evidence and financial trails.
