Stop politicising race just because car driver is China national (and accident victim a Malay)
A LIFE was lost in just a blink of an eye. But nobody wants an accident of such nature to happen.
A horrifying video shared on X by MYNEWSHUB (@mynewshub) showed a vehicle travelling on the fast lane when the driver misjudged a corner, lost control and veered to the left before hitting a motorcycle head on, killing the motorcyclist instantly.
The poster had claimed that the car driver was a China motional but did not reveal the identity of the victim.
The tragic incident is believed to have occurred at 1.42pm pm on June 13 based on the dashcam of the vehicle owned by Zura Aziz which recorded the fatal accident at KM24.8 of the MEX Highway heading towards the Putrajaya toll booth.

One netizen gave a heart-wrenching update, claiming that the motorcyclist is his neighbour in Terengganu.
He was on the school run while his spouse was expecting their second child. The couple had been anticipating the arrival of a baby girl with great excitement.
He further requested for Al-Fatihah prayers for the deceased while appealing for conveyance of only civilised comments to which a commenter who was shocked with the news claimed that the deceased was his roommate for three years when they were studying and were still in contact.
This was when another netizen – presumably a lawyer – sought the deceased's contact details to offer legal services to his family.
One commenter berated the poster for using 'race' and 'nationality' to stir emotions. Calling it 'rage bait' (as if the driver had purposely wanted to ram into the motorcyclist), she counselled that perhaps the poster should drop 'news' from its moniker – MYNEWSHUB – arguing that such was gutter journalism.
Echoing this sentiment, another commenter contended that such headlines could create suspicions or wrong perception. Imagine if the headline had read that it was a 'Malay driver who killed the motorcyclist'.
Unfortunately, there were enough who lapped up such quasi-racist reporting.
One netizen hoped the victim's family will take civil action against the driver. Reasonable advice but one which was signed off with a racial slur.
The government of the day lacked the political will to take necessary action against foreign nationals, argued another netizen. Again, a racial slur was used.
There was also unfounded feeling among some that Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook is biased towards foreign nationals, in particular those from Chinese-speaking countries.
Some were just unable to hide their racist tendencies at all, side-stepping the accident completely.
Regardless of the race of the person at fault, quite a few netizens did point out that that particular stretch of road was dangerous and prone to accidents.
Make absolutely no mistake – it is a tragic accident. But an 'accident' is what it is.
People need to stop framing everything in racial terms. Would it had been reported similarly if the tables were turned where a Malay driver had killed a Chinese national?
Such reporting and social media content that fuels such hate must stop. – June 17, 2025

Business as usual at Cheras mall after fatal shooting
KUALA LUMPUR: It was business as usual at a Cheras mall today, less than a day after two men were shot dead outside the building. The mall, popular with Chinese tourists and home to several nightclubs, showed no visible signs of disruption. "There is a bit of worry because there's already been a shooting. But today, things look just the same," said Megat Hud, 38, a sales associate at an electronics store. He was shocked by the incident, which occurred just after midnight, but said there had been no change in security presence. "There are clubs here that run until late, but nothing like this has ever happened before," he added. Mall visitor Nurul Fitriana, 31, a construction administration officer, said she was stunned by the incident but not surprised that business remained unaffected. "I was really shocked, how did that happen? "But this place is always busy. I don't know if it's connected to anything, but it's not unusual to have a crowd even at night," she said. Nearby, convenience store staff said they were frightened during the shooting and immediately locked their front doors when they heard the gunfire. A mall worker who has spent a decade in the area said this was the first such incident he had seen. "I'm in the security line, I've gotten used to things like this. But of course, it was still shocking," he said. Police said the two victims were approaching their car inside the mall compound when they were shot by suspects wearing helmets. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. Despite the fatal shooting, many workers and visitors said they would carry on with their routines — albeit more cautiously.

Teacher, absent for nine months, found dead
JOHOR BARU: A teacher, who was absent from school for over nine months, has been found dead at her house here. The body of the 39-year-old woman was found by her neighbour on Thursday, several weeks after she is believed to have died. She was last seen alive by her neighbour on May 18. 'The body was discovered by a neighbour who noticed a foul smell coming from the house, said Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan. 'The cause of death could not be ascertained because the body was too decomposed,' he said. He said the woman, a teacher at a school in Taman Tunku Aminah, had not reported for work since Sept 24 last year. The school had tried to reach out to her several times but she had not been home when colleagues came calling. ACP Kumarasan said the case has been classified as sudden death and no criminal elements have been found. 'We are now identifying the next of kin of the woman,' he said, adding that the teacher was not married and lived alone. On Saturday, a Chinese primary school posted a heartfelt tribute to the teacher, identified as Lo Kwang Fong (pic), on its Facebook page after learning of her passing. 'After days of relentless investigation by the police, it has been confirmed that our dearly respected teacher has tragically passed away at the age of 39. 'The devastating news has brought immense grief to all. Teacher Lo was a role model who was gentle, humble, dedicated, and well-loved by her peers. 'She poured her heart into the field of education, always upholding a spirit of care for her students and a strong sense of responsibility,' read the post in Mandarin. In the same post, the school also appealed for help in locating the woman's next of kin, including an aunt believed to be living in Singapore and other relatives in Taiping, Perak. 'It is understood that teacher Lo was the only child in her family and that both her parents have passed away. 'She may have an aunt in Singapore and relatives in Taiping,' the post added.
