Florida football lands coveted blue-chip ATH Davian Groce in 2026 cycle
The 6-foot-1-inch, 190-pound multi-positional player out of Frisco (Texas) Lone Star projects mostly as a wide receiver but also got plenty of reps at running back during his prep career. He chose the Gators over the Oklahoma Sooners — who had been at the forefront for his talents — as well as the Baylor Bears and Houston Cougars, among others.
Billy Napier and Co. welcomed the Texan to Gainesville as a late addition to his official visit schedule, swinging through the Swamp from June 13-15, putting the program back into focus for the coveted student-athlete.
"Definitely stands at top three, for sure," Groce told Swamp247 after his official visit. "They're definitely in the mix of where I want to go, for sure."
Groce also added, "It was real positive. It's the best team morale that I've been around, that I've seen."
That sentiment carried over in the following month and culminated in his commitment. As for where he might line up for the Gators, it still appears to be a wide-open case.
"Just being a football player, not having a position, really being positionless," on where Florida sees him in the offense. "Just get me around the field, give me the ball, really."
Davian Groce's Recruiting Summary
Groce is ranked No. 47 overall and No. 4 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite, while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 60 and 6, respectively. He ranks No. 36 on the ESPN 300 and No. 4 at his position nationally.
Davian Groce's Scouting Report per 247Sports
Dynamic offensive weapon experienced at running back and receiver who could play either at the high-major level
Owns a receiver's build with strong pass-catching production, but verified athleticism particularly stands out when stacked vs. running back class
That said, multiple sources indicate a desire to play receiver
Displays impressive body control and spatial awareness in the air and along boundaries
Plays with some subtle speed-changing modulation evident in run-after-catch ability at receiver and second-level playmaking at RB
Unorthodox gait that appears somewhat tight-hipped, but ankle flexibility shows in foot quickness
Texas 5A 200-meter champion as a junior
Field-stretching linear speed supported by multi-sport data, but a build-up runway aids in reaching highest gear
Reveals some gear-down when redirecting
Valuable basketball participation pervasive in NFL Draft results across positional spectrum, but particularly frequent in skill players/pass catchers
Likely one of the top offensive playmakers in TXHSFB and the country for the 2026 class. Projects as a high-major receiver who can give you personnel/game plan flexibility with a clear long-term NFL ceiling.

Rookie locks in spot with Ravens but wants more than special teams duty
In the end, it won't count. LaJohntay Wester's magical punt return during the Baltimore Ravens' first preseason game sent shockwaves through M&T Bank Stadium. It won't be tallied in his career highlights, nor will the win he helped produce be logged on the season's ledger. Who are we kidding, though? We all felt a slight adrenaline rush as it became certain he was in the clear and no one was catching him from behind. The rookie described it as 'build-up' and 'emotion' pouring over. A sixth-round pick during the most recent NFL Draft, there's just something about this guy. No one dedicates an enormous amount of time discussing this, but landing him that late in the selection meeting feels like a steal. Ravens offensive coordinator raved about him recently. The initial 53-man roster hasn't been released yet, but if we were to read between the lines, we'd assume Wester has locked up the returner role with additional duties to be named later. Again, we're going to assume Wester has ended Baltimore's search for a punt returner. Might he provide a Swiss-Army knife of sorts to the offensive attack? That remains to be seen. Wester appeared in 58 games at the collegiate level, including four seasons with the Florida Atlantic Owls and his most recent with the Colorado Buffaloes, produced 326 receptions, 3,634 yards receiving, and 31 receiving touchdowns. He also racked up another 213 yards and a pair of TDs on 37 carries. There's some potential there. We'll see if the Ravens can find unique ways to deploy him this season. David Booth's $300 million gift to Kansas: How it will transform the stadium and Gateway District
LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Kansas has received a $300 million gift from donor David Booth, the largest in school history and believed to be among the richest in the history of college sports. Booth, a graduate of Lawrence High School and KU, already has his name on the football stadium. Kansas was expected to allocate $75 million toward the next phase of the renovation of the David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium and additional construction of the surrounding area, called the Gateway District. Kansas athletic director Travis Goff said the remainder of the gift was expected to generate a stream of income for the athletic department that could last for generations. 'There is no more generous and impactful Jayhawk, and we are so fortunate to call him a friend and mentor,' Goff said. The Gateway District's next phase was expected to add a hotel, additional retail and restaurant spaces, student housing, improved parking and an outdoor event plaza. Booth is founder of global investment firm Dimensional Fund Advisors, which managed $853 billion in assets as of June 30. The longtime benefactor made a $50 million pledge in 2017 to help with the overhaul of the football stadium, which at the time was the largest donation in KU history. He has given several other financial gifts to the university, including $4.3 million to buy and donate James Naismith's original rules of basketball. 'KU and Lawrence are a big part of my story, and it means a lot to support the community that invested in me," Booth said. 'Philanthropy, like investing, pays dividends over time.' The Kansas football team played six games last season in the Kansas City area while the stadium underwent renovations. The Jayhawks are set to play their first game at Memorial Stadium on Aug. 23 against Fresno State. ___ Get poll alerts and updates on the AP Top 25 throughout the season. Sign up here. Liverpool to agree fantastic transfer in next HOURS
Liverpool are closing in on a fantastic transfer that should be wrapped up in the next few hours. This one deserves applause. Liverpool are reportedly closing in on the transfer of Giovanni Leoni from Parma. The Reds are in desperate need of a new centre-back and the teenager fits the bill. Jarell Quansah's exit has left the squad light, after all. Liverpool sold the defender for a very good price but didn't immediately move for a replacement. Boosting the numbers at centre-back is also a priority because of Ibrahima Konate's situation. He's now in the final year of his contract and a move to Real Madrid is on the cards. Liverpool hope to renew his contract but if they don't, they won't want to leave themselves scrambling for someone in 2026. Then there's Virgil van Dijk - now 34 and coming to the end of his elite level. Investing in youth is absolutely crucial and Leoni is certainly that. 🔴 Shop the LFC 2025/26 adidas away range Liverpool close in on Giovanni Leoni Ben Jacobs reports that a deal between Liverpool and Parma for Leoni 'could be finalised in 24 hours or less'. He says the parties are all very close to an agreement and we won't be waiting long. At this point, Leoni looks destined for Anfield where he'll get to learn under his idol, Van Dijk. Virtually everything about this transfer makes sense for Liverpool, in fact. Leoni is still only 18 but broke into Parma's starting XI last season, appearing 14 times in Serie A. He's unquestionably one of the best wonderkid centre-backs in world football - if not the best.
