Six injured in five vehicle pile up, including a TLDM truck in Langkawi
The Front Commander of the Langkawi International Aerospace and Maritime Exhibition (LIMA'25) Operations Room for the Kedah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Senior Fire Superintendent I Ahmad Aminuddin Abd Rahim, stated that they received a call regarding the incident at 3 pm and arrived at the location five minutes later.
'The LIMA Operations Room received an emergency call via the land search and rescue (SAR) team, informing them of a road accident involving five vehicles, namely a TLDM lorry and four cars.
'There were 30 victims involved, of whom five men and one woman sustained injuries. One of the victims suffered a neck injury,' he said in a statement today.
He added that more than 40 officers and personnel from the police, TLDM, Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), and Ministry of Health (KKM) also assisted in the operation.
Meanwhile, TLDM stated in a statement that the three-ton truck carrying personnel for the LIMA'25 Maritime Segment Demonstration lost control and skidded while returning after Friday prayers at Al Ehsan Temonyong Mosque, heading to Resort World Langkawi.
'There were no fatalities, and all 25 personnel involved were taken to the Maritime Segment medical room for initial treatment. Two personnel were taken to Sultanah Maliha Hospital, Langkawi, for further treatment due to leg injuries.
'TLDM will establish a board of inquiry to determine the actual cause of the incident. The public is advised not to make any speculations that could interfere with the investigation,' it said.
In addition, Langkawi District Police Chief ACP Shariman Ashari confirmed the incident, and further reports regarding the incident will be announced later.

Police helicopter wreckage retrieved from Johor's Sungai Pulai, black box next in probe
ISKANDAR PUTERI, July 17 — The wreckage of the police Airbus AS355N helicopter that crashed in Sungai Pulai, Gelang Patah here last Thursday was successfully recovered today. The wreckage of the twin-engine light utility helicopter was earlier floated above the water level at 11am, before being lifted onto a by crane into a salvage vessel about 15 minutes later. The operation, which started at 8am, saw the salvage vessel and two Marine Police Force (MPF) patrol boats at the location of the helicopter's crash site before raising the wreckage. Clear and favourable weather conditions helped the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) and MPF divers in the wreckage recovery efforts. At the nearby Sungai Pulai operations centre, representatives from the police, RMN, Air Accident Investigation Bureau, Tanjung Pelepas Port, Johor Port Authority, the Fire and Rescue Department and Health Ministry were at hand to assist in the recovery efforts. Following the successful recovery, investigators will probe into the helicopter's communication recording device that is believed to be inside the wreckage. Last Thursday, the Airbus AS355N police helicopter with registration number 9M-PHG crashed while performing a flypast simulation in conjunction with the Multi-Directional Exercise on Nuclear Security Detection, Malaysia-Indonesia-Thailand-Singapore (MITSATOM) 2025 joint exercise. However, the helicopter's five crew members, who are police personnel, survived the crash. The incident left two crew members, Constable RG Devendran from the Tanjung Kupang police station and Corporal Adeline Liu Yan Sin, from the police air unit, in critical condition. The helicopter's pilot, Assistant Commissioner Faizul Muhammad; his co-pilot, Superintendent Ahmad Bustamin Baharom and Sergeant Siti Latipa Khairuddin were reported to be recovering and in stable condition. All five victims are currently receiving treatment at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) here. The Airbus AS355N, prior to that it was under Eurocopter, is a popular variant and used by both private individuals and companies, private helicopter charter, as well as law enforcement and government service. The police currently operate a fleet of five Airbus AS355N helicopters since taking delivery in 1996.

Sungai Pulai helicopter wreckage removal to start tomorrow
ISKANDAR PUTERI: The operation to retrieve the wreckage of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) helicopter that crashed into Sungai Pulai is set to commence at 8 am tomorrow. This follows a coordination meeting involving multiple agencies today. The meeting was led by Johor Internal Security and Public Order Department chief SAC Muhd Zailani Abdullah and Subang Air Operations Force deputy commander SAC Ahmad Lokman Abdul Hadi. Representatives from 25 agencies, including the Putrajaya Air Accident Investigation Bureau, Royal Malaysian Navy, and Fire and Rescue Department, attended the session. An integrated operations command centre has been established near the crash site to oversee rescue, safety, and medical operations. Authorities inspected the wreckage location by boat to assess technical and safety requirements before the hoisting begins. Royal Malaysian Navy divers will conduct preliminary dives to examine the wreckage and equipment. An ambulance remains on standby for emergencies. Police helicopter wreckage to be recovered tomorrow
ISKANDAR PUTERI: The police helicopter wreckage that crashed into Sungai Pulai during a security drill last week is expected to be lifted tomorrow. The salvage operation was finalised during an inter-agency coordination meeting held today at the crash site's forward command post. The meeting was co-chaired by Johor Internal Security and Public Order Department chief, Senior Assistant Commissioner Muhd Zailani Abdullah, and Subang Air Wing deputy commander, Senior Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Lokman Abdul Hadi. Following the meeting, both senior officers conducted an on-site assessment of their Rigid Hull Inflatable high-speed patrol boats ahead of the recovery operation, which will involve Royal Malaysian Navy divers assisted by Marine police Unit Two. Divers have already marked the crash location and were seen today inspecting equipment and preparing for the salvage dive. The coordination meeting involved 25 personnel from key agencies, including the Air Accident Investigation Bureau, Johor Port Authority, Tanjung Pelepas Port, Fire and Rescue Department, Health Ministry and Iskandar Puteri police headquarters.
