16 Early Internet Websites Only Millennials Remember

Buzz Feed22-07-2025
Recently, Redditor u/Toomad316 asked those in the Reddit community to share the early internet sites from their childhood that kids these days will never know, and even as a '98 baby, I don't remember some of these! That said, I'm curious to know: do you remember these websites?
"Candystand.com."
—TheTeaSet66"I really wish the old Candystand was still around. I want to play Lifesavers mini-golf again for the nostalgia. I still remember learning about it in study hall because a teacher let one of the football stars play Candystand mini-golf on the smart board. I went home and immediately pulled it up on the family PC to start my own addiction to Candystand. They had so many great games I could play that were way more fun than writing a 20-page Shakespearean tragedy."—Scribe625
"StumbleUpon."
—Professional-Sir7115"StumbleUpon was such a gem. I don't know if it was because the internet was smaller back then, but it was so much easier to find diverse, but quality content. These days, it feels like we're stuck to platforms that provide specific types of content and little control over the algorithm."—LostPhenom
"I Can Has Cheezburger. I wasted many hours on there."
—Majestic-War-7925To jog your memory a bit, this website was known for popularizing cat memes, typically with intentionally misspelled text called "LOLSpeak."
"Bored.com. RIP Adobe Flash."
—samxmariexThis website was a destination for a bunch of entertaining, flash-based games that anyone could play. But when Adobe Flash Player ceased to exist, Bored.com became unusable.
"Homestar Runner."
—anony1911The Homestar Runner website launched in 2000, featuring the Flash-animated web series where people could play games and watch animations.
"The old Cartoon Network website. It was a treasure trove of games. I, for one, had a blast making my own Codename: Kids Next Door ID and printing it at my mom's office. Color and all."
—vanvonhunter
"Napster. The original."
—jkb1023jbNapster launched in 1999 and allowed users to download MP3s from other people's hard drives, essentially creating a free online music library.
"Addicting Games."
—RazzleDazzle1537Addicting Games was a website full of, well, addicting games. From action games, puzzles, mystery games, and more, this site was a go-to for many who were looking to pass the time.
"MapQuest."
—Pure_Chain5903Before Apple Maps or Google Maps, there was MapQuest. This site gave you directions, but you had to print the directions out or write them down. Oh, and there was no "reroute" option back then, either.
"Ask Jeeves."
—Thayes1413"ChatGPT is what I thought Ask Jeeves was going to be like in middle school."—C-Fifth
"LiveJournal."
—Last-Temporary-2877"I kept mine from 2002 all the way to 2023. It's wild seeing all those years represented at the top of the archive page!"—Imaginary-List-4945
The obvious one is MySpace."
—BertKekticWidely considered to be the OG of social media, MySpace was a platform where users could create and customize their own profile, upload pictures, make friends, and just post updates about their lives.
"GeoCities."
—RogueWedgeGeoCities allowed people to create and publish their own websites. The site would place the different websites into "neighborhoods," even giving them special "street addresses."
"Neopets."
—BlackaandWhite2024Neopets was a virtual game launched in 1999 where users can adopt, customize, and interact with creatures called Neopets in the world of Neopia.
"LimeWire. Is this file an album? Is it a virus? Is it porn? Let's find out!"
—ImissyoudarlinSimilar to Napster, LimeWire allowed users to share and download files (music, movies, etc.) from other users for free.
Lastly: "eBaum's World."
—DaveyMuldowney"Reddit before Reddit. Until I realized they were just reposting shit from other sites. But yeah, all of those early 2000s memes? I got them from eBaum's."—sckurvee
I honestly miss the old Cartoon Network, Disney Channel, and Nickelodeon websites so much! I used to play That's So Raven pinball for hours. Bride storms out of her own wedding after pushy mother-in-law crashes dessert table with ‘better' cake in Tupperware: ‘You're welcome'

It was supposed to be a sweet ending — until the mother of the groom decided the wedding cake wasn't up to her taste buds. In what guests are calling a 'wild' wedding stunt, one unapologetic MIL hijacked the dessert table — with a homemade carrot cake she smuggled in a Tupperware. 'At my friend's wedding last fall, everything was going smoothly until the cake,' a guest dished on Reddit's r/wedding forum on August 2. 'The groom's mom stood up and snatched the mic from the MC.' The guest thought a heartfelt toast was coming when they witnessed this. Nope. 'I just want everyone to know I paid for half this wedding and I didn't approve that cake. It's dry. I tried it earlier,' the MIL declared on the mic, sending the bride's face into full 'murder' mode. Then came the pièce de résistance — or maybe pièce‑de‑passive‑agressive. 3 The big day was headed for a picture‑perfect finish — until the groom's mom decided the wedding cake was half‑baked. LIGHTFIELD STUDIOS – 'Like… a full, homemade sheet cake,' the Redditor continued. 'Slaps it on the gift table and says, 'This is carrot. From scratch. With real cream cheese frosting. You're welcome,' and just walks off.' And here's the kicker — people actually ate it. 'One groomsman says it's actually better than the real cake,' the guest wrote. 'Bride walks out. Groom follows. MIL smiles like she won.' The sweet sabotage left the couple on frosty terms with the groom's mom. 'The bride didn't speak to her for months,' the guest revealed. They've since made up — but 'unauthorized desserts' are now banned at family events. 'The Tupperware is still a sore topic.' The internet was quick to pile on. 'The fact that the bride only gave her the silent treatment for months is restraint,' one commenter wrote. Another chimed in: 'Someone should have just tossed MIL's cake on the floor out of respect for the bride and groom! I would NEVER be fine with MIL again!' 3 In a 'wild' move, according to guests, the unapologetic MIL staged a dessert‑table coup — unveiling a homemade carrot cake she'd covertly carted in a Tupperware. Iuliia – 'Guaranteed they are not fine now. At least the bride isn't. Bride is gonna have a husband problem if husband doesn't learn to check his mom and put her in her place,' one person suggested. Others saw a red flag for future family feuds. 'What an odd and controlling thing to do… I feel really sorry for that bride, and I'm wondering what other things won't be good enough.' But a few contrarians saw the upside. 'Honestly, more cake doesn't seem like a bad idea. This sounds like a win for everybody.' Speaking of in‑law drama, as previously reported by The Post, one monster-in-law showed up to her future daughter-in-law's wedding wearing almost the exact same version of the bride's dress. The livid bride vented to the r/weddingshaming subreddit, explaining how the MIL 'cried LOUDLY' the night before, skipped the guest book and didn't even give a card. 3 Saying 'I do' means saying yes to the whole family circus. Enduring a monster‑in‑law after the honeymoon is bad enough — but having her pull stunts on your wedding day? That's a whole new level of wicked. WavebreakMediaMicro – Sadly, she's not alone. From sobbing through ceremonies to comparing nuptials to a barn burning down, Reddit is full of tales proving some MILs just can't let the spotlight go. As the saying goes, misery loves company — and when it comes to weddings, some mothers‑in‑law seem determined to be the main event.

Bride's Coworker Files HR Complaint Over Not Being Invited to Wedding

The woman said in a Reddit post that her coworker has been giving her "side-eyes" and "little digs"NEED TO KNOW A soon-to-be bride revealed on Reddit that her coworker filed an HR complaint after not being invited to her wedding "This was honestly one of the weirdest work things I've ever dealt with," the woman wrote She said the colleague now "acts super passive-aggressive toward me"A soon-to-be bride is facing some heat in the office over her guest list. In a post on Reddit, a woman revealed that her coworker wasn't too pleased about not being invited to her wedding. 'This was honestly one of the weirdest work things I've ever dealt with,' the user wrote on the site before explaining that she's not close to this colleague. 'We've had small talk here and there, nothing deep. No lunches together. No real outside-of-work connection,' the bride wrote. According to the woman, her colleague bluntly asked 'if she was invited" after finding out about the upcoming nuptials. 'I kinda laughed and said, 'Oh no, it's really small. Just close friends and family.' I didn't think anything of it,' the fiancée recalled. 'She got quiet and a little cold after that, but I figured okay, maybe awkward moment, whatever.' The soon-to-be wife then went on to say that she got an invite to a human resources meeting a few days later. Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from juicy celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. 'Turns out she filed a complaint saying I was being 'exclusive' and 'creating a hostile environment by leaving people out,' ' she said. 'Because I didn't invite her. To my wedding. That I'm paying for. That isn't even work-related.' 'So I had to sit in this HR meeting and explain that I'm not required to invite coworkers I barely know to my literal wedding. That it's a personal event,' she continued. 'That it has nothing to do with work or who's in the office.' Meanwhile, the Reddit user wasn't the only perplexed person in the room as 'HR honestly looked just as confused as I was.' 'They basically said, 'Yep, okay, thanks,' and closed the case,' she added. However, unlike HR, it doesn't look like the coworker is ready to let things go just yet. 'But now she acts super passive-aggressive toward me,' she wrote on Reddit. 'Like side-eyes, little digs when I walk by. Still bringing it up in these weird sarcastic comments like, 'Some people are so inclusive these days.' ' The woman added, 'I can't believe she actually thought HR could… what, make me invite her? Some people really do think they're the main character.' ! Many readers on Reddit took the bride's side. 'I would report her to HR for creating an uncomfortable environment now,' one person wrote. A second said, 'Definitely seems like the coworker is heading towards hostile work environment territory, if not already there.' Read the original article on People Solve the daily Crossword

'Real Housewives' Star Diagnosed With Cancer Makes Heartbreaking Statement and Fans Are all Saying the Same Thing

'Real Housewives' Star Diagnosed With Cancer Makes Heartbreaking Statement and Fans Are all Saying the Same Thing originally appeared on Parade. Teddi Mellencamp opened up about her cancer journey during an interview on The Jamie Kern Lima Show. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star opened up about her alleged affair with a horse trainer and, while she didn't openly admit to stepping out on her then-husband Edwin Arroyave, she did say that she wonders if her diagnosis was "payback" for the choices she made. "I've never talked about it at all, just because of the kids, and I've never wanted anybody to have a, you know, a guarantee whether it happened or didn't happen, but what I can say is, did I do things that hurt other people? Yes," she admitted. "And I wonder if that's why it got cancer. Like it was my payback. Nothing goes without payment, I guess," Mellencamp, 44, added. More than 200 comments amassed on a Reddit thread about Mellencamp's karma comments and most fans disagree with the mom of three's thoughts, saying that no one "deserves" cancer. "She deserved to be divorced. No one deserves cancer. Even in some twisted world where you could 'deserve' cancer, her children don't deserve to see their mother like this," one person weighed in. "Life isn't about paybacks. We live, we learn, we grow. I feel terrible that she feels this is her 'karma,'" someone else said. "Lost my mom to cancer, she was 42, I was 15. She didn't do anything to deserve cancer, no one deserves to die with cancer. Poor teddy, I feel for her young kids so hard, I lived it, and even I was older than her kids. I can't imagine going thru it even younger. She has guilt, and looking for a reason why she got it, but this isn't it. There is no reason, unfortunately, it comes after anyone. I pray she can pull out of this some way, somehow," a third Redditor wrote. "Poor Teddi. My dad died last week after the prostate cancer he's had since 2010 metastasized to his brain. He was an exceptional person and a good man, and no mistake he ever made was the reason for any of this. I hope Teddi has enough people in her life reminding her that cancer doesn't discriminate, and she doesn't deserve it. I think how openly and aggressively she's fighting the disease is great, and I hope she beats it to a pulp. F*** cancer," a fourth comment was diagnosed with melanoma in 2023 and has openly shared her journey on social media and on her podcasts. In February 2025, she learned that the cancer had metastasized to her brain and, a month later, she revealed that she had tumors on her lungs. Mellencamp and Arroyave are separated, though they remain close and still live together. They co-parent their three kids, Slate, Cruz and Dove.
