"Because of the tension between India and Pakistan, match was called off": HPCA member Sanjay Sharma on PBKS vs DC clash
Dharamshala (Himachal Pradesh) [India] May 9 (ANI): Sanjay Sharma member of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA), mentioned that the Punjab Kings vs. Delhi Capitals match of the Indian Premier League 2025 in Dharamshala was called off mid-way due to security concerns stemming from tensions between India and Pakistan.
'Because of the tension between India and Pakistan, yesterday's match played between Punjab and Delhi was called off in the middle due to security reasons. But because there was a possibility that something like this could have happened, the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association, Punjab Kings franchisee, and all the operations staff were already in touch with the administration. The administration was fully aware of this,' Sanjay Sharma told ANI.
Sharma also spoke about the preparations by Dharamshala police administration to deal with this situation.
'The police administration had made extensive preparations for this. And the franchise also made extensive preparations for how to deal with this situation. Because of this, when the match was postponed, everything was handled smoothly without any unpleasant incident,' he added.
On Thursday night's unfortunate incident at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium, where the highly anticipated match between PBKS and DC was called off. Spectators were informed of the cancellation and asked to vacate the premises, while both teams were escorted back to their hotel.
Soon after, Punjab Kings confirmed the development through their official social media handle, posting, 'Match has been called off.'
After the match was called off, the fans were seen coming out of the stadium with chants of 'Pakistan murdabad' slogans.At the stoppage of play, the PBKS side were 122/1 in 10.1 overs, with Prabhsimran Singh (50*) and Shreyas Iyer (0*) unbeaten on the crease.
Meanwhile, The Board Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday announced the suspension of the ongoing Indian Premier League(IPL), sources said. The tournament had entered the decisive stage with the Final scheduled for May 25. (ANI)

And in the same year, Akuila Rokolisoa returned with a Bronze medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Having made his debut for New Zealand in 2018, the 30-year-old, who has also won a Gold medal in the Commonwealth Games in 2018, is one of the biggest attacking threats in the sport. Terry, whose father also played rugby for Ireland, was the 2022 World Rugby Men's Sevens Player of the Year. The playmaker represented Ireland at the Paris Olympics, 2024, and helped his nation clinch a Bronze medal at the Rugby World Cup Sevens in Cape Town, 2022, and a Gold medal at the 2023 European Games Terry is one of the 'originals' who were part of the inaugural Ireland squad that started at Europe's C Division in Bosnia in June 2015, and was also a XVs World Cup U20 finalist in 2016. -Rosko Specman - Kalinga Black Tigers The 36-year-old South African is one of the senior statesmen in the sport of rugby, and is a two-time Olympic medallist. Rosko Specman was part of the South African team to have won Bronze at the Olympics in both Rio and Paris. The winger has also won Bronze at the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco. And more recently, he stood on the podium to pick up a Silver Medal at the Africa Men's Sevens in Mauritius, 2024. One of the most loved athletes in the sport, Rosko Specman is well known for his ability to run at the opposition and his natural try scoring ability. Hailing from Makhanda in South Africa, Specman has been playing Rugby Sevens since 2014, and is one of the most experienced players in Season 1 of the RPL. Manu Moreno - Hyderabad Heroes A forward from Spain, the 26-year-old has had a taste of success in the early stages of his career. A European champion in 2021 and 2022, Manu will be one of the focal points of the Hyderabad Heroes' attack in Season 1 of the RPL. A student of medicine outside of playing sport, Manu is noted for his role in Spain's attacking style, characterised by swerving runs and a fizzing passing game, and has been crucial in helping Spain maintain their status in the SVNS top tier. The Spanish forward was also selected among the 14 best rugby sevens players at the World Rugby Sevens Series in Toulouse in May 2023. -Matteo Graziano - Delhi Redz One of the younger players in RPL, Matteo Graziano is a 23-year-old Argentinian Hooker, who is known for his versatility on the field. Graziano has been part of Argentina's dynamic attack, and was an important part of the set-up that eventually secured their first SVNS circuit medal in Hamilton. In January 2025, Argentina were able to retain the HSBC Perth 7s title after thrashing hosts Australia 41-5 in the final, where Matteo Graziano scored a hat-trick. The young man, who hails from a rugby family, was also a part of the Argentina squad at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Jerry Tuwai - Mumbai Dreamers One of the absolute stalwarts of the game, Jerry Tuwai is the only rugby sevens player with two Olympic gold medals (2016 Rio and 2021 Tokyo). In fact, Jerry was part of the Fijian side that won a silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics in and became the most decorated Olympian in Fiji's history. In the World Rugby Sevens Series, Jerry has captained Fiji in the 2017-18 season and led them to the 2022 Singapore Sevens title, pulling the strings in their 28-17 final win over New Zealand. He recorded 34 clean breaks in the 2019 season, ranking fifth, and was nominated for World Sevens Player of the Year in 2017. Sift Kaur Samra wins women's 3P bronze, her 2nd in two years in Munich
Munich [Germany], June 13 (ANI): World record holder Sift Kaur Samra, won bronze in the women's 50m rifle 3 positions (3P), on competition day three of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup (Rifle/Pistol) in Munich, giving India their second medal of the competition. The former world number one shot 453.1 in the final at the Olympic Shooting range, to finish behind Switzerland's Emely Jaeggi, who won silver with 464.8. Norwegian ace Jeanette Hegg Duestad won gold with 466.9. India now has two bronzes from the competition. Sift's second 3P bronze in Munich in as many years came on the back of a gold in the year's first Buenos Aires World Cup in April. In Munich on Thursday, she shot a characteristically strong and consistent qualification round with scores of 197, 199 and 196 each in Kneeling, Prone and the last Standing position respectively, to finish second in a top field. Agathe Girard of France pipped her to the top spot on the same score of 592, but with more shots in the inner 10 ring. While the Olympic champion Chiara Leonne of Switzerland missed out, so did India's Ashi Chouksey, a brilliant 589, giving her a ninth-place finish. Known to be a strong standing shooter in 3P, Sift ended the second Prone series of 15 shots in fourth position, behind Paris silver medalist Sagen Maddalena. Duestad and Emely were in a battle of their own for gold and silver quite early in the 45-shot final. Sagen then faltered in the first series of Standing shots and Sift gleefully accepted the window of opportunity to climb up to third, a position which she clinically maintained with a series of slim and mid to high 10s, right till the end of the penultimate 44th shot. On Friday, day four, the women's 10m Air Pistol final is also on schedule, as is the men's 25m rapid-fire pistol. Nepal and West Indies set to play first bilateral T20I series in September
ANI 13 Jun 2025, 15:09 GMT+10 New Delhi [India], June 13 (ANI): Nepal and the West Indies are set to square off against each other in a three-match T20I series in September in Sharjah, marking the first bilateral series between the two sides. Despite the games being played at a neutral venue, Nepal has been assigned as the series' official host. A statement from Cricket West Indies (CWI) called the series historic and stated that the board's 'engagement reflects its strong commitment to supporting the development of cricket in emerging nations and fostering meaningful partnerships with fellow cricketing boards worldwide.' 'This series is more than just a set of international matches--it's a celebration of the game's expanding global footprint and a testament to what cricket represents: pride, purpose, and the power of unity. As a full-member nation, we see it as part of our responsibility to contribute to the development of cricket beyond our borders,' CWI CEO Chris Dehring said in a statement by the CWI. 'Supporting Nepal in this key phase of their cricketing journey not only builds the sport at the grassroots and international levels but also reminds us of the deep pride and honour associated with representing our nation and wearing our national colours. We are proud to stand with Nepal at this moment in their history and look forward to exciting and competitive cricket in Sharjah,' Dehring added. The series will kick off on September 27, followed by the second T20I on the next day, and the three-match affair will conclude on September 30. All matches will be played at the same venue in Sharjah.
