New Delhi: The Rajya Sabha was disrupted once again on Monday as Opposition MPs continued to protest over the issue of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Bihar.
The Upper House was adjourned for the day little after 2 pm on Monday, after being adjourned twice in the pre-lunch sitting. During the Zero Hour, Deputy Chairman Harivansh said he has received 26 notices under Rule 267 demanding discussion on various issues, including SIR and alleged discrimination against Bengali migrant workers in other states.

Jaishankar's written answer came in response to a starred question by Congress MP Randeep Singh Surjewala in the Rajya Sabha. He said that the map in question was displayed at Dhaka University. 'The Government has taken note of reports that an Islamist group in Dhaka called the 'Saltanat-e-Bangla', backed by a Turkish NGO called the 'Turkish Youth Federation', has put out a map of the so-called 'Greater Bangladesh' that includes parts of India. The map was displayed in the Dhaka University," a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs quoted the Minister as saying. Jaishankar said that the government is closely monitoring the developments having implications for national security and is taking necessary steps to safeguard it. 'The Government of Bangladesh fact-checker platform, 'BanglaFact', claimed that there is no evidence of 'Saltanat-e-Bangla' operating in Bangladesh. It further clarified that the 'map' was displayed at a historical exhibition in reference to the so-called earlier Bengal Sultanate," the statement said. Surjewala had sought details from the government over a radical group in Bangladesh backed by Turkey and involved in promoting a 'Greater Bangladesh' map that includes parts of the Indian territory. The Congress leader questioned if the government has raised the issue diplomatically with the Bangladesh government and whether the government has assessed the security implications of increased Turkish and Pakistani engagement in Bangladesh.

Ranchi: MLAs of Jharkhand's ruling INDIA bloc decided to pass a resolution against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the assembly during the monsoon session. The monsoon session will begin on Friday and will conclude on August 7. There will be five working days. "Several issues were discussed during the meeting, including the SIR issue in Bihar. The INDIA bloc is against the decision of the Election Commission, and we also protest this," Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who chaired a meeting of the coalition on Thursday, told reporters. The CM said they also discussed how constitutional institutions are being "misused" by the Centre. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Radhakrishna Kishore said that they have decided to pass a resolution against the SIR in the assembly during the session. Soren said that they would also raise their voice for the separate Sarna religious code and an increase in the OBC reservation. Kishore said all members have been asked to be prepared to give "logical replies to all the questions of the opposition". The main opposition BJP will decide its strategy for the monsoon session during its legislature party meeting on Friday. Earlier, Speaker Rabindranath Mahato held an all-party meeting and expressed hope for cooperation from all the members for a smooth and successful session.
