Teen arrested on suspicion of rape and murder after death of 13-year-old girl
She died later in hospital, West Yorkshire Police confirmed. A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder and rape and remains in custody.
West Yorkshire Police said in a statement: 'Police were called by the ambulance service to an address on Sheepridge Road, Huddersfield at 11.36pm on Monday August 11 to a report that the teenage girl was unresponsive. The 13-year-old was taken to hospital where she sadly died in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

'A 16-year-old boy, from Huddersfield, was arrested on suspicion of murder and rape, remains in police custody. A post-mortem examination was conducted yesterday (Wednesday) which concluded the girl's death was unexplained pending further investigation.'
Detective Chief Inspector Stacey Atkinson said 'We are continuing to conduct a number of inquiries today following the death of a 13-year-old girl following an incident at a flat on Sheepridge Road. A post mortem was not able to determine how she died, and we continue to treat her death as unexplained at this time, pending more inquiries.
'Those inquiries are complex and are likely to be lengthy as we work to fully understand the circumstances of the girl's death.
'Specially trained officers are supporting her family at this time.'
The force confirmed the 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of another offence of rape relating to a 16-year-old girl from a separate incident, elsewhere in the Kirklees district.

Police have launched a murder investigation after a woman was fatally assaulted in the early hours of the morning. Man dies after being shot multiple times in St. Paul early Saturday
Police in St. Paul, Minnesota, are investigating a shooting they say left a man dead early Saturday morning, bringing the city's homicide total for the year to eight. According to St. Paul police, officers were called to the 300 block of Edmund Avenue for a report of a shooting around 4:15 a.m. There, officers found a man lying in the street, adding that he had been shot multiple times. PARIS (Reuters) -A French man arrested in Mali is a member of the French embassy in the capital Bamako and accusations against him are "unfounded", the French foreign office said in a statement to Reuters on Saturday. The embassy worker, named as Yann Vezilier by the Malian government in a statement on Thursday, was arrested in recent weeks alongside two generals and other military personnel and accused of participating in an alleged plot to destabilise the West African nation. "Dialogue is underway to clear up any misunderstanding," the ministry statement said. It added that his arrest was in violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. France's once close relationship with its former colonies in West Africa's Sahel region has soured in recent years since a series of military coups overthrew governments in Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger.
