'Overhyped and overrated': Josh Allen's wife Hailee Steinfeld faces harsh criticism from Dave Portnoy
Dave Portnoy ignited a debate by criticizing Hailee Steinfeld's film 'Sinners,' despite Josh Allen's praise (Imagn Images) Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy is known for pulling no punches, and his latest target is Sinners—the gothic vampire drama starring Hailee Steinfeld , wife of Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen. More than three months after its April 18 premiere, Portnoy made it clear he wasn't buying into the hype. Dave Portnoy slams Hailee Steinfeld 's ' Sinners ' Portnoy told followers on X (formerly Twitter) that he had intended to watch the much-anticipated thriller Weapons, only to discover it wasn't available to stream. Instead, he settled on Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler and set in 1930s Mississippi, with Steinfeld playing a multi-racial vampire opposite Michael B. Jordan. 'I may be like 6 months late with this critique but that was one of the most overhyped, overrated movies of all time. If you say that movie was great, you have no movie credibility with me,' Portnoy tweeted, leaving little doubt about his verdict. The criticism comes well past the film's promotional run, but the blunt delivery reignited conversation—especially since Allen had publicly praised his wife's performance earlier this year, calling the film 'fantastic' during a team media appearance. NFL rivalry spills into Hollywood chatter Not all NFL voices shared Allen's glowing review. New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner jokingly declared in April, 'out of respect for my dawg Josh, i will not be going to see Sinners,' adding a playful twist to the inter-division rivalry. Allen, coming off an MVP-caliber season with over 3,700 passing yards and 40 total touchdowns, married Steinfeld on May 31 in a celebration he called 'the best night of my life' on HBO's Hard Knocks. The couple's high-profile status in both sports and entertainment has made Sinners a talking point well beyond the usual moviegoing crowd. A personal story behind the supernatural Director Ryan Coogler has said the idea for Sinners stemmed from family stories and Mississippi blues history, weaving in a supernatural twist with Michael B. Jordan playing twin brothers navigating post-World War I life. For Steinfeld, the role was deeply personal, connecting to her own heritage while tackling a complex, genre-bending character. Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal To Film Love & War At MP's British-Era Army Base
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period drama Love & War will film in Madhya Pradesh, at a British-era army base. Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal, it releases in 2026. Sanjay Leela Bhansali's highly anticipated period drama Love & War is gearing up for its next phase of filming in Madhya Pradesh. After extensive shoots in Mumbai and planned sequences in Europe, the production is set to utilise a British-era army base in the town of Mhow to capture the film's authentic period setting. According to sources familiar with the project, the filmmakers have chosen Mhow, a town known for its colonial military heritage, as a primary location to depict artillery and military life from the pre-independence era. The location's preserved British army base offers an ideal backdrop that aligns with the film's historical narrative. 'The team will be shooting for close to 15 days here, with major portions requiring Vicky Kaushal and Ranbir Kapoor. As of now, they are on standby waiting for the permissions. Once that is cleared, they will fly to MP to kick-start the shoot," said an insider to India Today. Mhow, also called Dr Ambedkar Nagar after its most famous son, Dr B.R. Ambedkar, lies about 23 kilometers from Indore. Established in 1818 by John Malcolm, the town served as the headquarters of the 5th (Mhow) Division of the Southern Command during British rule. Today, it remains a significant center for the Indian Army, housing three premier military training institutions. The acronym Mhow is popularly understood to mean 'Military Headquarters Of Warfare,' reflecting its longstanding martial importance. Following the shoot in Madhya Pradesh, the Love & War team plans to travel to Italy in October for further filming. The production aims to complete shooting before the end of 2025, despite reports of earlier delays. Set against the backdrop of a fictional war, Love & War is reportedly a passionate love story exploring the intricacies of friendship, relationships, and sacrifice. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, a real-life couple, alongside Vicky Kaushal. This upcoming release is slated for 2026.
