People are STILL paying up to US$3,000 for the Fujifilm X100VI on eBay

Despite being launched over a year ago, the Fujifilm X100VI remains on back-order everywhere – and is still selling for over double its retail price on the used market.
It's certainly not news that the X100VI is still hard to find, as the monstrously popular camera has been out of stock ever since it was announced – with Fujifilm battling the scalpers with everything from pre-order lotteries to removing languages from the camera menu.
What is surprising, though, is that 12 months later the camera is still being resold for obscene amounts of money second-hand, as desperate shoppers look to get their hands on it at literally any expense.
The retail price of the Fujifilm X100VI is $1,599 in the US, and the going rate on the used market is between $2,000 and $2,500. Heck, even Walmart is currently selling it for $2,029.
However, it's not at all unusual to see second-hand sellers charging upwards of $3,000 – such as the eBay seller pictured in the image above, asking for a whopping $3,498. And that's before you even get to the Limited Edition X100VI, which I've seen going for up to $4,000.
Admittedly, scalpers gonna scalp – and just because sellers are asking these prices, doesn't necessarily mean that people are paying them. Except that they are:
Just yesterday, somebody bought a used X100VI for $2,085, an unopened one for $2,450 and a Limited Edition for $3,000. And that's just on eBay, never mind anywhere else online.
With the public appetite for the camera showing no sign of abating, the crazy pricing situation will continue as long as Fujifilm is unable to meet the production demand.
So if you're looking for one, unless you're open to considering an alternative to the X100VI (in which case, you might be interested in the brilliant little Fujifilm X-M5), godspeed…

Hobby stays hot: Record $308 million spent online on cards in July

More than $308 million was spent on sports and trading cards online in July to set an industry record for the second consecutive month. The highest mark recorded by data tool Card Ladder, July's total eclipses the previous record of $306 million from June. Prior to June, March was the highest recorded month in Card Ladder's database with $303 million in total transactions. The record total can continue to rise as previously unrecorded sales from July are retroactively added to the database. It also doesn't include in-person sales from shows such as the National Sports Collectors Convention, which reported record attendance last week. More than 5.5 million total transactions were logged by Card Ladder in July, the second-most recorded in the tool's database behind only the 5.6 million recorded in March. The record month was largely driven by eBay, which had more than $266 million in sales recorded by Card Ladder. Fanatics Collect had the second-highest total with just under $23 million. Heritage finished with roughly $10.5 million, while Alt sold $7.3 million. Caitlin Clark's 2024 Panini Rookie Royalty WNBA Flawless Logowoman 1/1 was the most expensive card to sell in July after fetching $660,000 in Fanatics Collect's July Premier Auction. That result is the highest ever for a women's sports card at public auction. Third-party grading tracker GemRate reported 2.3 million cards were graded in July. That total is up 10% compared to June and 34% year-over-year. Ben Burrows is a reporter and editor for cllct, the premier company for collectible culture. Forget Amazon, this online retailer is growing even faster

Forget Amazon, this online retailer is growing even faster originally appeared on TheStreet. Shopify has carved out a big niche in e-commerce by providing the platform necessary for retailers to bring their businesses online. The company's roots stretch back to founder Tobias Lutke's frustration when he attempted to sell skateboards online. He felt there had to be a better way to build a retail business, so he went out and created it. 💵💰💰💵 Unlike Amazon, which sells everything from A to Z both directly and via third-party sellers on its marketplace, Shopify offers retailers a decentralized platform to build their businesses. It includes tools for websites, accounting, and inventory management, plus the ability to sell on multiple channels, including Amazon, eBay, and social media. Its agnostic approach to e-commerce has translated into rapid growth this year, despite ongoing consumer belt-tightening due to inflation and a wobbly jobs market. Shopify demand sparks envy-inspiring sales growth Shopify's edge is that it offers retailers a relatively easy way to get up and running quickly across multiple online retailers, including eBay and Amazon, without getting bogged down in administrative tasks. Merchants can leverage Shopify () to manage inventory across e-commerce and brick-and-mortar stores via plug-ins, reducing payment processing services, shipping integration, and cash advances simplify sales and improve merchant cash flow while content tools and analytics help retailers better serve customers. In return, Shopify pockets fees, including monthly subscriptions that range from $29 for basic services to up to $2,300 for big enterprises that require heavy lifting. It also makes a percentage of any credit card sales when merchants use Shopify Payments. Altogether, those fees really add up. Shopify's second-quarter earnings revealed revenue grew 31% to $2.68 billion, about $130 million more than expected. That translated into net income of $338 million, excluding tailwinds from investments. Including those investments, net income was $906 million. Earnings per share, or EPS, grew 35% to $0.35. Shopify's secret weapon? Artificial intelligence Shopify's merchants are winning with consumers. Last quarter, Shopify's gross merchandise value was $87.8 billion, up 31%, while Amazon's North American retail sales rose 11% to $100 believes investments in AI will help that strength continue. Shopify is targeting third-quarter revenue growth at a mid-to-high twenties percentage rate compared to one year ago. A lot of its growth stems from efforts to push more deeply into offline and business-to-business sales - something Shopify President Harley Finkelstein referred to on Shopify's earnings conference call would create "a truly unified commerce offering." It's also because Shopify has a knack for capitalizing on consumer trends, the latest of which is artificial intelligence. "We've consistently proven to be experts in anticipating where consumers will be showing up next and building accordingly," said Finkelstein. "We've built a suite of products that make it easy for AI platforms to bring shopping to their agents from discovery to checkout." More Retail Stocks: Troubled retailer files Chapter 11 bankruptcy, liquidates stores Wayfair struggles to reverse concerning customer behavior Walmart introduces mobile new store format for younger customers Its AI agents can quickly search across its product catalog, and its newly launched Checkout Kit can be embedded directly within chats with AI agents, allowing shoppers to buy right from the chat. AI tools are also being rolled out to help merchants, including Sidekick, a data-crunching AI tool that can draw insights from merchant data in seconds that could otherwise take hours. Its AI store builder can create a custom online store in seconds too, from a single phrase. "Now all you need is an idea and a description of the product you want to sell like stylish athleisure apparel for women, and Shopify will do the rest," said Finkelstein. The new AI agents could give it yet another leg up, helping it drive even greater sales and profit growth in the future. Investors seem to agree. Shopify's stock price surged after the earnings release, jumping 22% on August 6.
