'Freedom Flotilla' Launches New Mission to Gaza
In a statement shared on X, the coalition confirmed that its next boat, named 'Handala,' will depart from the Italian port of Siracusa on 13 July. 'The mission is for the children of Gaza,' the coalition declared, emphasizing the symbolic significance of the mission's name.
The vessel is named after Handala, the iconic cartoon figure of a 10-year-old boy created by Palestinian artist Naji al-Ali, widely recognized as a symbol of Palestinian resistance and steadfastness.
This announcement comes on the heels of the seizure of the 'Freedom Ship' (Madeleine) by Israeli forces at dawn on a Monday earlier this month. The ship, carrying humanitarian aid and international peace activists, was intercepted while sailing in international waters en route to Gaza in a bid to challenge Israel's 17-year-long blockade of the coastal enclave.
The 'Madeleine' had set sail in early June from the Italian port of Catania, carrying 12 international activists, including Al Jazeera Mubasher journalist Omar Fayyad. On board were critical supplies of food, medicine, and medical equipment intended for civilians in Gaza who have been enduring one of the world's worst humanitarian catastrophes.
The Israeli military later confirmed that the ship had been seized and transferred to one of its ports, in what human rights advocates have condemned as a violation of international maritime law.
This was not the coalition's first attempt to defy Israel's naval blockade. The 'Madeleine' was the 36th vessel launched as part of the Freedom Flotilla, an international civil society campaign that has sought to break the siege on Gaza since it began in 2007.
The vessel was named in honor of Madeleine Kulab, a young Palestinian woman who became the first female professional fisher in the Gaza Strip. She lost both her father and her livelihood in the wake of Israel's war on Gaza, which escalated drastically in October 2023. Her story has since become a powerful symbol of resilience under occupation and siege.

British MPs Call on Their Government to Recognize Palestine Immediately
DaysofPal- Dozens of Labour Party MPs in the British Parliament have called on their government to 'immediately recognize' the State of Palestine and take steps to prevent the Israeli occupation from displacing residents of the Gaza Strip. This came in a letter sent by around 60 Labour MPs (from the ruling party) to Foreign Secretary David Lammy. In their letter, the MPs urged the British government to take immediate action to stop the Israeli government from carrying out its forced displacement plan in the city of Rafah, southern Gaza, and to move forward with the immediate recognition of the Palestinian state. They noted that their letter followed the announcement by Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz of plans to 'forcibly displace all Palestinians in Gaza to a camp established on the ruins of Rafah city, without allowing them to leave,' to expel them later entirely. The British MPs considered Katz's plans to amount to 'ethnic cleansing' of the Gaza Strip. In their letter, they quoted prominent Israeli human rights lawyer Michael Sfard, who described the Israeli plan as an 'operational blueprint for committing crimes against humanity.' According to Sfard, the plan involves 'moving the population of Gaza to the southernmost part of the Strip as a prelude to deporting them outside.' Shortlink for this post:

Lazzarini: Israel Has Killed 800 Starving People in Gaza
DaysofPal—The Commissioner-General of the UN agency UNRWA, Philippe Lazzarini, stated that the Israeli occupation has killed more than 800 starving Palestinians in Gaza by shooting them while they were trying to obtain a small amount of food. In press remarks on Saturday, Lazzarini emphasized that 'an effective system has been replaced with a deadly scam, aimed at forcing people to flee and deepening the collective punishment of Palestinians in Gaza.' He pointed out that life-saving supplies are at risk of spoilage due to their nearing expiration, as over 6,000 UNRWA trucks loaded with food, medicine, and essential items have been waiting for more than four months for clearance to enter Gaza. Lazzarini noted that allegations of aid being diverted to specific Palestinian factions have not been raised in official meetings, nor has any evidence been presented to support such claims. He stressed the urgent need to allow the United Nations, including UNRWA, to carry out its duties in Gaza. He called for an immediate ceasefire, lifting of the blockade, and the release of detainees. Earlier today, at least 27 Palestinians were killed and dozens more injured in a new Israeli massacre targeting people waiting for aid in northern Rafah, in southern Gaza. Local and medical sources confirmed that Israeli forces opened fire and shelled the 'Al-Shakoush' aid distribution area in northern Rafah, killing 27 people and wounding 180 others, some of whom are in critical condition according to doctors. Video footage documented the bodies of the martyrs lying on the ground due to the lack of space, while dozens of injured people crowded the hospitals, which are already struggling with limited medical capacity, severe shortages of beds, and a lack of medical staff. 'Leveled to the Ground': Israeli Army Minister Brags About Gaza's Destruction
DaysofPal – The Israeli Army Minister, Yisrael Katz, on Friday shared an aerial image of Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza, reduced entirely to rubble, boasting that the city had been 'leveled to the ground.' The photo, posted to Katz's account on the platform X, revealed a haunting landscape of pulverized homes and shattered infrastructure, capturing the scale of devastation inflicted by months of relentless Israeli bombing. 'After Rafah and Beit Hanoun…,' Katz wrote, suggesting that the leveling of entire cities has become a military benchmark. The image showed no standing buildings, only a vast gray expanse of dust and ruins, marking the complete erasure of what was once a densely populated Palestinian town. Beit Hanoun, located near Gaza's northern border with Israel, has been under total siege for days. On Tuesday, the Israeli military announced it had encircled the city from all sides and launched a new wave of intensive airstrikes. The latest escalation follows months of bombardment that have left the city's infrastructure decimated and its population displaced or buried under rubble. On June 2, the Municipalities Emergency Committee in northern Gaza declared Beit Hanoun a 'disaster area,' citing the catastrophic destruction of infrastructure, the collapse of all vital services, and an unlivable humanitarian situation. Before the current war began, the town was home to an estimated 60,000 people, spread over approximately 17,000 dunums. Today, nothing remains but broken concrete and dust. The same fate has already befallen Rafah, Gaza's southernmost city, which lies along the border with Egypt. Once a final refuge for displaced Palestinians, Rafah has been almost entirely razed by Israeli forces. As part of a controversial new plan announced on July 7, Katz unveiled Israel's intention to create a so-called 'humanitarian city' in Rafah. This proposed zone, located between the Morag and Philadelphia axes on the Egyptian border, is widely viewed by rights groups and analysts as a forced displacement scheme. Israeli military analyst Alon Ben-David, speaking on Channel 13, described the area as a de facto detention zone, fenced off from the rest of Gaza. 'This is not a humanitarian area. It's a place from which you can only exit Gaza, not return,' he said. Ben-David added that this strategy could further expose Israel to international war crimes charges. Shortlink for this post:
