Jayanti Chauhan is an Indian entrepreneur and the sole heiress to Bisleri's Rs 7,000 crore empire. She is the only daughter of Ramesh Chauhan, founder of Bisleri International, the best-known name in packaged drinking water in India.
For over five decades, Bisleri has been a leading company in India's bottled water segment, capturing a market share of 32%. With 122 manufacturing facilities and over 4,500 partners to distribute its products across the country, the brand has built a strong position not only in India but also internationally, operating in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
During the financial year 2022–23, Bisleri International generated revenues of over Rs 2,300 crore, with its brand valuation estimated at above Rs 7,000 crore. However, even amidst such success, the sale of the company almost occurred—this turning point led Jayanti Chauhan to step in and take over the name for which her father had worked tirelessly to build.
Stepping into the leadership of Bisleri was a daunting task for Jayanti Chauhan as her father, Ramesh Chauhan, was preparing to sell the iconic brand to the Tata Group for approximately Rs 7,000 crore, partly due to his advancing age and partly due to having no legitimate successor. At first, Jayanti, his only child was reluctant to take over leadership. But after his father was considering another option for 'Bisleri' future, she had a change of heart. Her decision to take over disintegrated the Tata deal and ushered in a new era of Bisleri under her leadership.
Although Jayanti Chauhan was initially hesitant about taking on leadership responsibilities at Bisleri, she accepted her new role and started her journey at age 24 under the guidance of her father, Ramesh Chauhan. Her first task was a daunting one: to turn around factories that were failing to meet capacity around the country, while also implementing process automation to modernize the operation. With her hands-on experience, she gained real insight into Bisleri's multiple business models, strategic processes, and growth objectives – skills required for any future endeavors.
She gained an understanding of the diverse business models, plans, and targets crucial for propelling the organization forward. This invaluable experience paved the way for Jayanti to take the helm of the emerging brand Vedica Himalayan Spring Water. Bisleri, under her stewardship, has made great strides in bringing New Product Development to life, especially within the expanding Carbonated Soft Drink (CSD) category – the company is now poised to enter their next growth stage.

Saudi Arabia and South Africa with high production of dates and agriculture produce respectively are seen banking on Indian innovation in food tech to achieve food security in their nations and boost production. Majed Al-Otaibi, Charge d'Affaires, Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia said Saudi Arabia is a long- standing partner of India and The Kingdom as the home to more than 37.1 million palm trees, producing around 1.1 million tons of dates annually is seeking partnership to bringing the dates to every corner of the globe. Meanwhile, India's food processing & ingredients sector growing at 8.8% CAGR, is projected to double by 2030, while food-tech outpaces global benchmarks at 14% CAGR, according to experts. Rising demand for clean-label, functional, and health-conscious foods is driving AI, IoT, and digital traceability adoption across the F&B value chain, they said. With India's food processing sector projected to be among the fastest-growing industries in the coming years, the government has permitted 100% Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the F&B segment. Reflecting on the opportunities in India's food processing and ingredients sector Nilesh Amritkar, Managing Director, Envirocare Labs said, 'India's food processing and ingredients sector is expanding at a healthy 8.8% CAGR and is set to double by 2030, establishing our country as the food factory of the world, from farm gate to global plate.' 'At the same time, India's food-tech ecosystem in areas like hardware, software, AI, cold chain, and precision processing is expected to outpace global benchmarks at over 14% CAGR by 2030. This shows how innovation is no longer important; India is now exporting food technology to the world,' he said. 'Even with challenges such as tariffs, sanctions, and 50% export loading restrictions, our industry has demonstrated 100% resilience by rerouting supply chains and diversifying markets. Strong policy support including PLI-like schemes, Make in India, Mega Food Parks, NIFTEM institutes, and MoFPI programs like PM-FME is creating the right ecosystem for growth, entrepreneurship, and R&D-led innovation,' he added. Speaking at the event Seetharaman Raghupathi, Executive Director, National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) said the White Revolution 2.0 initiative aimed at establishing 75,000 new cooperatives by 2028–29, would further boost the growth of India's dairy sector ensuring food security. Fradusters cheat retired govt accountant out of Rs1.5cr in online share fraud
1 2 Pune: Online fraudsters cheated a retired central govt accountant out of Rs1.57 crore after promising him handsome returns on investment in online trade of shares. The retired official, an employee of Wadgaon Sheri, lodged a complaint with the Cyber police on Tuesday. According to the police, he received a message on his messaging application in March urging him to invest in stocks to generate handsome income. Senior inspector Swapnali Shinde of the cyber police said, "The suspects promised the victim over 20% profit in just a few months. The retired official read the message and decided to contact its sender. His number was then added to a group on the messaging application. He then contacted the group admin, who promised to help him in trading shares and generating profit." "The suspects then told the victim to download a stock trading application. He downloaded it and started trading shares with tips from the suspects," the FIR stated. The suspects then promised to help the victim buy high-value shares and shared six bank account details with him. The retired govt official transferred money to these accounts on 11 occasions, the FIR stated. "In all, he transferred Rs 1.57 crores. The victim's application showed a sum of Rs2.93 crore as the collective sum of his investment and profit generated on the app. When he decided to sell off the shares for profit, the suspects demanded various fees and taxes. Rain damages roads posing logistics challenge to Palda industrialists
Indore: Recent rainfall has resulted in sludge and potholes on roads in one of the city's oldest industrial belts, Palda, leaving industrialists struggling with damaged roads and logistics challenges. Local industrialists said that deteriorating road conditions have led to deep potholes and hazardous driving scenarios, causing delays in movement of raw material and finished products. Palda Industrial Association secretary Harish Nagar expressed frustration over the situation, saying, "Industries in Palda have significantly limited their transportation activities due to damaged roads, which are not being repaired since long. We contribute approximately Rs 5 crore annually in property tax to the civic authority, yet basic infrastructure improvement remains unmet." Industrialists added that poor condition of roads and drainage systems have been repeatedly brought to the attention of Indore Municipal Corporation and relevant departments, yet appropriate action has not been taken to address these critical infrastructure needs. Another industrialist Komal Agrawal, who operates a dal mill in Palda said, "Damaged roads are not only affecting operational efficiency but also jeopardises the safety and integrity of goods in transit. Workers too are feeling the impact, as many find it increasingly difficult to reach their workplaces." Industries claim the poor condition of roads is hampering day-to-day operations and attendance of employees.
