Former Clemson, South Carolina player in transfer portal commits to third different team
Former Clemson Tigers infielder Nolan Nawrocki is set to make it three different college baseball programs in as many seasons.
Nawrocki, primarily the Tigers' third baseman in 2024 who transferred to rival South Carolina after that season and then entered the portal again this summer, announced his latest transfer destination on Wednesday.
Nawrocki will play for the Tulane Green Wave and coach Jay Uhlman, he said in a post to social media. Nawrocki committed to Clemson in 2022 and redshirted with the Tigers in 2023 before splitting time between third base and DH in 2024. Nawrocki batted .264 for the Tigers with four home runs and 24 RBIs in 36 games.
With South Carolina and coach Paul Mainieri this past season, Nawrocki appeared in 14 games and hit .200 (8-for-40) with one home run and seven RBIs. The Gamecocks finished 6-24 in SEC play, placing ahead of only 3-27 Missouri in the conference standings.
Nawrocki was involved in a rather intense moment this season when Clemson and South Carolina met to open the annual Palmetto State series on Feb. 28 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium, receiving a memorable stare-down from Tigers starter Aidan Knaak after striking out to end the top of the first.
Clemson won the game, 5-3, and swept the Gamecocks for the second straight season. The Tigers finished 45-18 overall this past season, falling to West Virginia and Kentucky at the Clemson Regional of the NCAA Tournament.

Report: Broncos signing UFL star with NFL experience
The tradition continues. The Denver Broncos are signing former Birmingham Stallions cornerback Mario Goodrich, according to James Larsen of UFL Newsroom, marking the fourth straight year the team has signed a spring football league player. Advertisement Goodrich (6-0, 186 pounds) won a national championship at Clemson and entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2022. After spending his rookie season on the practice squad, Goodrich dressed for four games during the 2023 season, totaling five tackles. After being waived by the Eagles, Goodrich went to training camp with the New York Giants in 2024. After failing to make New York's roster, Goodrich spent the 2025 spring season with the Stallions. He totaled 16 tackles, five pass breakups and three forced fumbles in six games. Goodrich will hope to follow in the footsteps of outside linebacker Dondrea Tillman, who signed with Denver last spring after playing for the Stallions. Tillman went on to make the 53-man roster and totaled five sacks as a rotational pass rusher last fall. Once the signing becomes official, the Broncos will need to make a corresponding move to make room for Goodrich on their 90-man offseason roster. Related: These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans. Broncos officially sign UFL cornerback to 1-year contract
The Denver Broncos have officially signed United Football League cornerback Mario Goodrich, the team announced Wednesday. Denver's pending agreement with Goodrich was first reported on Tuesday, and the UFL star has now officially signed with the club. Goodrich (6-0, 186 pounds) spent the spring playing for the Birmingham Stallions, totaling 17 tackles, six pass breakups and three forced fumbles in seven games (including a playoff game). Advertisement Before playing in the UFL, Goodrich spent two seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles and one summer with the New York Giants after winning a national championship at Clemson. He totaled five tackles in four NFL appearances, including one start. Goodrich will join a crowded cornerback room that already includes Pat Surtain, Riley Moss, Jahdae Barron, Ja'Quan McMillian, Kris Abrams-Draine and Damarri Mathis, among others. He will get an opportunity to compete for a depth role in the secondary, but Goodrich was probably signed primarily for his special teams contributions after he earned a 90.8 ST grade from Pro Football Focus this spring. Goodrich is the second Birmingham player the Broncos have signed, following in the footsteps of outside linebacker Dondrea Tillman, who joined the team last summer. Tillman totaled five sacks in his debut season last fall. To make room for Goodrich, Denver waived defensive back Tanner McCalister. The team's 90-man offseason roster is now full. Check out these highlights of new Broncos CB Mario Goodrich
The Denver Broncos improved their secondary (and special teams) depth on Wednesday when they signed United Football League cornerback Mario Goodrich to a one-year contract. Goodrich (6-0, 186 pounds) totaled 17 tackles, six pass breakups and three forced fumbles in seven games with the UFL's Birmingham Stallions this spring. Before that, he was with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2022-2023, recording five tackles in four games (one start). Goodrich also had a stint with the New York Giants in 2024. Advertisement Because his time in the NFL has been brief, there aren't many highlights of him in the league. But the cornerback won a national championship (2018) at Clemson and was later named a first-team All-ACC player (2021). In four seasons with the Tigers, Goodrich totaled 69 tackles, 21 pass breakups, five interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in 47 games. Here are some highlights from his time at Clemson: Goodrich will face tough odds to make the 53-man roster, but he'll get a chance to compete for a spot this summer. He joins a cornerback room that also includes Pat Surtain, Riley Moss, Jahdae Barron, Ja'Quan McMillian, Kris Abrams-Draine and Damarri Mathis, among others.
