Last Updated:
Major route diversions have been put in place in view of the Bada Mangal celebrations as well as the final league match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between LSG and RCB.
Lucknow Police have implemented major traffic restrictions on May 27 (Tuesday) in view of the Bada Mangal celebrations as well as the final league match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
Bada Mangal, or Budhwa Mangal, is observed on 4-5 Tuesdays that occur in the month of Jyeshtha, as per the Hindu calendar. These five Tuesdays are dedicated to Lord Hanuman for protection, strength and devotion, and several Bhandaras are organised across the city.
In view of these major events, the Lucknow Police have announced extensive traffic diversions across key routes. Police restricted the movement of heavy vehicles, buses and commercial traffic on Shaheed Path to adjoining roads leading to Sultanpur, Rae Bareli and Kanpur.
Instead, vehicles will have to take alternative routes through Kamta Tiraaha, Indira Gandhi Pratishthan Chauraha, Samta Mulak Chauraha, Lalbatti Chauraha, Cariappa Chauraha, Telibagh Chauraha, Barabirwa Chauraha, or Indira Nahar Chauraha and proceed via Kisan Path to reach their destination, if commuters want to reach Ayodhya Road.
Heavy vehicles, buses, and commercial vehicles will not be allowed to travel towards Ahimamau from Gosain Ganj Town Tiraaha or Amul Dairy Cutting. Instead, such vehicles should take the left from Amul Dairy Cutting via Vrindavan Yojna or Kabirpur using Kisan Path to reach their destination.
Access to Ahimamau, Plassio Mall and Police headquarters will also remain restricted today. Police have urged commuters, except spectators, to plan ahead for their movement and avoid restricted routes, particularly those heading towards Kanpur city, the Expressway or Barabirwa.
Roadways and City buses from IT Chauraha will not be allowed to go towards Aliganj via Vivekananda Polyclinic, Nirala Nagar, and Vivekananda Overbridge. They will have to proceed via Ayodhya Road, Central Bank Tiraaha, Wireless Chauraha, and Hewett Polytechnic to Vishnupuri.
Other key diversion points include Kursi Road, Aliganj, IT Chauraha, and Hanuman Setu. Police advised people to avoid travelling during peak hours in affected zones and use public transport wherever possible.

Sourav Ganguly's blueprint for Shubman Gill on how to use Jasprit Bumrah in England; ‘Use him as wicket-taker, use…'

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly dished out a detailed blueprint on how to use Jasprit Bumrah on English conditions to get maximum output from the pacer in the five-match Test series. Bumrah has been one of the pillars in Indian cricket in the past few years. However, his workload management in recent times has been a concern. Although the Indian management would want the premier pacer to be available for all five Tests, Bumrah is likely to be rested in at least one Test match if not a couple, thus ensuring him to be in his best possible shape throughout the series. Ganguly came up with a clear plan for new captain Shubman Gill on how to get Bumrah for all the five games. 'Shubman Gill needs to understand to not bowl Bumrah into the ground. Use him as a wicket-taker, use him in short spells, so that he remains fit for five Test matches,' Ganguly told RevSportz. "And make sure the others (chip in) – young Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj has got tremendous fitness and ability, and is a warhorse. 'Make sure Bumrah is used as a wicket-taker. He has got to understand that, and I am sure Gautam (Gambhir) is there , and the senior players there, they will guide him,' added the former BCCI president. Despite being the no.1 Test bowler in the world, Bumrah broke down in Australia in the fifth and final Test in Sydney. Such was the extent of his back injury, that the 31-year-old had to miss India's triumphant ICC Champions Trophy campaign in Dubai and the initial part of the recently-concluded Indian Premier League for Mumbai Indians. With four fast bowlers important against England, Ganguly wants Gill to not use Bumrah for more than 12-13 overs in a day. 'You've got to look out for him and not make him bowl more than 12-13 overs. I believe four fast bowlers are important,' said the former left-hander. 'Here, others will have to be the warhorses like Siraj, Arshdeep. Not sure about a Nitish or a Shardul Thakur. Maybe they can get some runs with the bat, but I think India need to back the seven batters and then back the bowlers, because we need 20 wickets to win Test matches,' he said.

'I hope they really consider him': Former Australia player and PBKS coach backs Shreyas Iyer to become India captain

Punjab Kings' assistant coach has backed Shreyas Iyer for India captaincy. He praised Iyer's smart decision-making and match-winning knock in IPL 2025. Iyer was left out of India's Test squad for the England series despite his good form. read more Former Australian cricketer and current Punjab Kings (PBKS) assistant coach Brad Haddin has come out in strong support of Shreyas Iyer , saying that he should be seriously considered as a future captain of the Indian cricket team. The BCCI named Shubman Gill as the new captain of the Test side after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired last month. Iyer, who has impressed everyone with his batting and captaincy over the past few months, was snubbed from the Test team despite reports suggesting that he might be picked to play in the No. 4 position, which has been left vacant by Kohli. However, when the Indian team for the England series was announced, Iyer's name was missing. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD PBKS coach urges BCCI to make Iyer the captain PBKS assistant coach Brad Haddin, who has watched Iyer from close quarters, has praised his leadership during the recently concluded IPL 2025 season. Punjab Kings finished at the top of the points table to make the playoffs. They qualified for the final thanks to a brilliant knock from Iyer against Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2. However, PBKS eventually lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the summit clash. Speaking on The Grade Cricketer podcast, Haddin recalled a moment in Ahmedabad where Iyer made a bold decision that went against all the data and analysis. He mentioned the match against Mumbai Indians that PBKS won thanks to Iyer's composed innings. PBKS qualified for the IPL final after 11 years and Iyer played a big role in it. 'You do all your planning for the game and at the stadium in Ahmedabad, everything says bat first. The analytics and the match-ups, go through your team stuff, everything says bat first. And this is where our captain hasn't got enough credit and I hope, when they come down to pick an Indian captain, they really start to consider Iyer. He was outstanding throughout the whole tournament,' Haddin said. 'We say to him, 'Yep, we are batting first.' But he goes, 'No, we're bowling.' Punter goes, 'okay let the captain make the choice.' [Iyer] then said, 'No, I'll win the game and I'm going to bat second. Everything leads to batting first, but we bowl. Then the captain comes out in the second innings and plays one of the best knocks in IPL I have ever seen and got us into the final,' he added. Iyer broke a lot of captaincy records at the Punjab Kings. He became the first captain to lead three different teams to the IPL final. Iyer is also the first captain to lead two different teams to back-to-back finals. He helped Kolkata Knight Riders win the IPL last year. Before that, Iyer took Delhi Capitals to their first-ever IPL final. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD
