'There's probably a learning curve for him': Tom Brady opens up about legendary coach Bill Belichick's transition to college football
Legendary quarterback Tom Brady has weighed in with his thoughts about former head coach Bill Belichick moving from the NFL to college football, providing some context of what might be in store for the new coach.
The reflections come as Belichick begins his career at the University of North Carolina (UNC), and Brady addresses the pros and cons of the jump.
Tom Brady sees Bill Belichick bringing NFL-level preparation to UNC
Belichick, Brady said, was 'the most prepared, the most hard-working coach' he had ever worked with. Brady said on The Joel Klatt Show: Big Noon Conversations.
He elaborated on the fundamentals Belichick teaches, high standards, and growing players. Brady says UNC players are getting an unprecedented chance:

f you go to that school, you will be prepared to play at the next level. He's gonna teach the right fundamentals, the right techniques, he's gonna have high expectations for you, and you're gonna develop a lot. That's what I know. I think the challenge for him is he's probably dealing with a lot of underdeveloped players compared to what he's used to—guys who are four, five, six years further along in their development.
So there's probably a learning curve for him. They're probably just less physically developed, and he's a deep thinker of the sport. What makes Coach Belichick so unbelievable is he can break down any opponent. He watches so much film, he's so smart with how he approaches defensive schemes and offensive schemes. The interesting challenge will be: how much can these kids retain?'
The learning curve of adapting to college players
There are different obstacles for Belichick now, too, that Brady pointed out in the candid conversation.
He noted that the college players he will be coaching are typically younger and less experienced than the professional players he is used to. Having different experiences and institutional constraints, like time for practice or watching film, could create a perfect storm, making it even harder for Belichick to do Belichick things in terms of game-planning and studying tape.
Bill Belichick is famously thorough in his preparation, as well as his ability to analyze plays.
While in the NFL, he was dealing with players who had hit or were close to their peak physical and mental primes. At the college level, his challenge will be turning inexperienced players into competitive ones without them getting lost in his complex strategies and having difficulty retaining such approaches.

Bill Belichick's hiring sparks optimism and interest
After coaching in the NFL for decades, Belichick will join UNC on a reported $10 million-per-year, five-year contract, making it his first collegiate coaching gig.
His presence alone has jump-started the program, leading to an increase in funding for Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL), essential for luring in top recruits.
Such a bold investment reflects UNC's desire to help the Tar Heels compete at an even higher level in the ACC and beyond. To Brady, who has often given his former coach credit for his success as a player, there are only so many realms where you can transcend your limitations to be a winner, which is why he's backing the idea that Belichick would be an average coach in college football.

'Don't push him towards early retirement': Sanjay Manjrekar slammed for comments on Jasprit Bumrah
Sanjay Manjrekar slammed for comments on Jasprit Bumrah Aakash Chopra has responded to Sanjay Manjrekar 's criticism about Jasprit Bumrah , defending the pacer's selective Test match participation. The discussion emerged after Bumrah played only three out of five Tests in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, following BCCI medical team's pre-series guidelines. Manjrekar, who had earlier supported Bumrah's captaincy candidature, changed his stance on Saturday. He suggested that Bumrah shouldn't be considered a frontline choice if he cannot commit to all Tests in a series. He also noted that India's two Test victories in England occurred when Bumrah wasn't playing. "I will be honest, I don't think he will play all the Test matches. He is going to pick and choose. Whether it's right or wrong, it's not a moral or ethical debate, is what I think. If you have a player of that level available, play him whenever he can," Chopra said on his YouTube channel. Don't push him forcibly towards early retirement because he is 24-carat pure gold. He is the Kohinoor diamond. The longer he plays, the better it is. I don't think he will play too much Test cricket, but for however long he plays, I would say hold onto it." The debate highlights the ongoing discussion about managing workload for key players in international cricket . Bumrah's situation represents a broader trend in modern cricket where players' availability is carefully managed to ensure longevity in their careers. The BCCI medical team's involvement in planning Bumrah's participation demonstrates the structured approach to player management. This strategy aims to maintain the effectiveness and fitness of crucial players across different formats of the game. The contrasting views between former cricketers Manjrekar and Chopra reflect the complex balance between optimal team selection and player preservation. Their discussion brings attention to the evolving nature of cricket management and player utilisation. Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!

The gesture adds to Al Faryan's growing list of high-profile offerings, underscoring his prominent presence in Saudi Arabia's sports and media circles. A camel for the 'Great one': A personal tribute from Ibrahim Al Faryan Cristiano Ronaldo's recent engagement to Georgina Rodríguez has received global attention, and in Saudi Arabia, the celebration took a uniquely regional turn. Ibrahim Al Faryan, a widely recognized Saudi media personality, marked the occasion by gifting Ronaldo a camel, a gesture he publicly announced on his account on X (formerly Twitter). 'This is my gift to you on the occasion of your marriage,' Al Faryan posted. 'The news has brought joy to us all, great one. Your gift will be in Riyadh when you return. Congratulations to you and Georgina.' His message was addressed directly to Ronaldo, acknowledging the couple's new milestone and offering a gift that is culturally rich and deeply symbolic in the region. Ronaldo and Rodríguez have not publicly disclosed a wedding date, but confirmation of their engagement came directly from Rodríguez through a post featuring a large ring and the caption in Spanish: 'Yes I do. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The 5 Books Warren Buffett Recommends You To Read in 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo In this and in all my lives.' The couple's relationship began in 2016 in Madrid, where Rodríguez was working as a sales assistant at a Gucci store. Ronaldo, then playing for Real Madrid, met her during a visit. As Rodríguez has described in past interviews, their connection was immediate, 'love at first sight. ' Since then, they have built a shared life spanning multiple countries and clubs, from Spain to Italy and now Saudi Arabia. Not his first gesture: Al Faryan's history of high-profile gifts This is not the first time Ibrahim Al Faryan has made headlines for a notable gift to a football star. In August 2023, two years before the camel gift, he presented Brazilian midfielder Fabinho with a Rolex watch following his debut match for Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League. The moment, which unfolded at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, was captured on video and quickly went viral across social media platforms. As Fabinho exited the stadium, Al Faryan approached and personally fastened the watch onto the player's wrist. Fabinho appeared surprised but appreciative, smiling, thanking the journalist, and shaking his hand. The watch was given in celebration of Fabinho's entry into Saudi football after his transfer from Liverpool. Al Faryan, known for his extensive coverage of international football, has attended six FIFA World Cup tournaments as part of his media career. Beyond journalism, he holds an honorary doctorate in combating sports fanaticism from the American University and is also involved in business management. His reputation in the sports community extends not just through his reporting but also through gestures like these that reflect both generosity and a strong personal interest in the region's evolving football culture.
