Indian Restaurant Tresind Studio Awarded With Three Michelin Stars In Dubai

Led by Chef Himanshu Saini, Tresind Studio is renowned for its innovative and modern interpretation of Indian cuisine.
A restaurant helmed by an Indian chef and founded by an Indian entrepreneur has made history on the global stage. Tresind Studio, located in Dubai, has become the first Indian restaurant ever to earn three Michelin stars, a landmark achievement that has catapulted Indian cuisine into the international spotlight like never before.
The honour was announced during the Michelin Guide's fourth annual ceremony in Dubai. As the names were revealed, the crowd erupted in applause when Tresind Studio and FZN by Bjorn Frantzen were introduced as the newest additions to the prestigious three-star list. This also marks the first time any restaurant in the UAE has received the highest Michelin distinction.
The kitchen at Tresind Studio is led by 38-year-old Chef Himanshu Saini, who is known for his innovative approach to Indian flavours. Speaking to Elle Gourmet India, he said, 'I would take few more days to realise that we have got three stars. I think we need to pinch ourselves way too often to sink in but this is an amazing feeling. I think we have contributed to the history of our country. I think this will open doors for many Indian chefs to pursue their expertise in Indian food. So, I congratulate to all the chefs in India. It is not victory which belongs to just us, it is a victory for team India."
Bangkok Post also quoted Michelin Guide's international director, Gwendal Poullennec, who praised Chef Saini by calling him a 'pioneer" who has helped open 'the way for many more talents to join the industry in India."
Tresind Studio is located on Dubai's famous Palm Jumeirah, a man-made island. The restaurant is known for its intimate dining format with just 20 seats and an open kitchen that allows diners to witness the preparation closely. It focuses on using ingredients sourced from organic and sustainable farms within the UAE.
On its official website, the restaurant mentions its goal of changing how people see Indian food 'by showcasing flavours both new and familiar through a creative lens."

'Indian chefs in cities from London to Dubai have been rewriting the playbook, fusing time-honoured flavours with boundary-pushing techniques," it added.

The Michelin Guide was first launched in 1900 by brothers Andre and Edouard Michelin as a handbook for French motorists. Over the years, it has become the most recognised standard in global fine dining. Restaurants are rated from one to three stars, with three stars reserved for the very best ones.

Just one generation ago, Gulshan Kumar, father of Bhushan Kumar, was a fruit vendor in Delhi. His career transformed in the 1970s when he began business of selling music cassettes. From there, the family launched their own record label, Super Cassettes, which later developed into T-Series. Currently, Bhushan Kumar leads the family business, as the chairman and managing director of T-Series. Supported, by his uncle Krishan Kumar, who manages the company's operations, he has two sisters- Tulsi and Khushali Kumar, who are involved in the entertainment sectors. While Tulsi is a well-known playback singer, Khushali is an actress. His wife, Divya Khosla Kumar, producer and director, also holds shares in the company. The Kumars draw a bulk of income from T-Series, one of India's biggest music labels and production companies. According to Industry insiders, Bhushan Kumar hold 80% of family's collective net worth. Meanwhile, his sisters Tulsi and Khushali Kumar reportedly own Rs 250 crore and Rs 100 crore net worth. Well, T-Series also has several other subsidiaries and an acting school in Noida.

Modi falls in grandfather category of Vance kids
Washington: Second Lady of the United States Usha Vance described her visit to India in April 'as the trip of a lifetime' for the family and said her three young children have put Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 'grandfather category'. Vice President J D Vance undertook his first official visit to India in April and was accompanied by Usha Vance and their three young children Ewan, Vivek and Mirabel. 'It really was the trip of a lifetime for us,' Usha Vance said, recalling the visit to India during a fireside chat here on Monday at the eighth edition of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) Leadership Summit. The Vances were in India from April 21-24 and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi before travelling to Jaipur and Agra. Usha Vance emphasised that meeting the PM Modi 'was really very special.' 'We'd actually had a chance to meet him before,' she said adding that when her kids, who were sleep-deprived when travelling in Paris, saw the Prime Minister, they 'saw an Indian man with a white beard and white hair, and they just put him in the grandfather category immediately. So they are very into him. 'They just love him. And he really cemented his status by giving our five-year-old a birthday present that day,' she said. The Vances and PM Modi had met in France in February during the AI Action Summit. She recalled that when the Vance family visited PM Modi's residence in Delhi, her kids ran up to him and were hugging him. 'He was just incredibly kind and generous to them.' She noted that the conversation between her husband and the Prime Minister was 'very productive' and 'it was a real opportunity for us to kind of cement that personal relationship that they have, which I think is only to the good.' Vance further said that her children had never been to India before because of the pandemic and her husband's political schedules but they have grown up knowing 'so much about this country, the stories, the food, the relationships with grandparents and friends, but they had never actually seen it. 'It just was sort of one hit after another,' Vance said as she spoke fondly of the 'most incredible food', peacocks, seeing the Taj Mahal, puppet shows, with puppeteering from all over the country, including from Andhra Pradesh, where her family is from. 'There were bits from the Ramayana. There were sort of comedic bits with animals. And it was a huge hit.' Vance said that when the family was at the Prime Minister's residence, her son was 'just so taken by everything and then taken by the entire cart of mangoes that was available for him to eat that he announced to the Prime Minister that he thought he could maybe live there and started making his plans…He just loved it.' She said that her children talk about the visit to India 'all the time. 'They've been all over the place, and they've had wonderful opportunities to see the world, but this was really special to them,' she said adding that her oldest son Ewan was really taken by the sculptures in the temple that he visited and thought it was incredible craftsmanship. Vivek, the Vances' middle child, was very excited to meet elephants, peacocks, camels and 'just any animal that he could kind of get his hands on.' She said that her daughter Mirabel really enjoyed her time in an auto rickshaw. 'That was maybe the highlight for her. The Secret Service was very generous and allowed us to kind of drive in an enclosed area for a few minutes. So, we had a lot of fun with that.'

Modi to inaugurate world's highest rail bridge
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the world's highest railway bridge, built over the Chenab River in Reasi district on June 6. Union minister Jitendra Singh confirmed this on Tuesday. Along with the bridge, the Prime Minister will also launch the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat train service. The Chenab railway bridge, now officially part of the Katra to Sangaldan rail section, stands as the world's highest railway arch bridge. This will be the first-ever train link connecting the Kashmir Valley with the rest of India. The bridge towers 359 meters above the Chenab River, surpassing even the Eiffel Tower in height. For the first time, Kashmir will be directly linked to the rest of India via rail. This bridge is a key component of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project, which spans 272 kilometers and includes 36 tunnels totaling 119 kilometers and nearly 1,000 bridges. The terrain's complexity and the region's seismic sensitivity posed major engineering challenges, but Indian engineers successfully executed this ambitious project, a feat many once deemed impossible. Railway officials highlighted the Chenab Bridge's structural strength, mentioning that it can withstand wind speeds over 250 km/h and was built using about 30,000 metric tons of steel. One foundation, known as S20, is so massive it covers nearly one-third of a football field, specifying the scale and vision behind the structure. The entire USBRL project represents not just engineering excellence but also New India's resolve and determination. With electric engines powered by specially designed overhead equipment (OHE) and advanced tunnel safety systems, the railway line is built for resilience and long-term service. The train service was earlier planned to begin on April 19 but was postponed after cancellation of PM Modi's visit due to bad weather. After the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor, this railway project now holds even more importance than before.
