Gunshots were fired at late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala's statue in Haryana's Dabwali. His mother, Charan Kaun, reacted sharply to the incident and said perpetrators cannot leave her son even after his death.
She posted on Instagram in Punjabi on Tuesday and called this incident an attack on Moosewala's memory and a 'wound to her soul". She wrote that the enemies of her son were not leaving him alone even after his death.
'My son remained the voice of the people's rights, and an attempt is being made to silence him even after he went to the Almighty," he post reads.
She further said that her son was a movement that will always continue. 'I want to tell everyone that one day, the guilty will definitely be punished for their actions. Our silence is not our defeat," she wrote.
Moosewala's statue was installed last year in Sawantkheda village of Dabwali by Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) state president Digvijay Chautala.
As per a report by PTI, a video clip showing shots being fired at Moosewala's statue was sent to Chautala on July 29 from a foreign mobile number. Following this, a case was filed.
As per a report by Live Hindustan, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for firing at Sidhu Moosewala's statue.
In a post on social media, members of the gang issue a warning and said those who support Moosewala and give him the status of a martyr and misleading the public will face consequences.
Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead allegedly by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in Punjab's Mansa on May 29, 2022. The popular Punjabi singer had just joined the Congress Party in December.

Model says man in Gurugram kept ‘staring and masturbating' near her: ‘Nobody really understands...'

A model and Instagram influencer was left 'disgusted' while waiting for her cab in Gurugram, when a man — now booked — unzipped his trousers and masturbated near her on the Delhi–Jaipur highway. The woman, who works as a model, said the incident occurred after she got off a bus from Jaipur. Despite sharing videos of the episode on the social media platform X and tagging the police, officials, and women's welfare bodies, she alleged that no action was taken. "While I was waiting for a cab, I noticed a man came around me and was constantly staring at me. Then I noticed that his pants' zip was unzipped, and he kept staring and masturbating in front of me. I felt very disgusted," the woman said. In her video post, the model said she was too shocked and afraid to scream or react at the time. 'People said I should have shouted or slapped him, but no one really understands what goes through a woman's mind at that moment. I just wanted to stay safe,' she added. The model, who is also a digital creator with over 38,000 followers on Instagram, said that after receiving no response from any agency, she shared a video of herself recounting the incident at the intersection on 4 August, once again tagging the relevant agencies and officials. Sandeep Kumar, Public Relations Officer of Gurugram Police, told HT, 'He was wearing a mask, denim trousers, a check shirt and was carrying a backpack in the front. We are tracking (footage) to know where he had moved from the place,' he said, adding that the woman's statement was recorded on Wednesday.

Request To Recuse Judges In New Diego Maradona Trial Denied

The request was denied, as the judges found the grounds of the request to be merely speculative and conjectural. The request by the defence to recuse two of the judges appointed for the trial of the medical team of the late Diego Maradona over the Argentine legend's death was rejected on Wednesday. Advocates of Maradona's personal physician, Leopoldo Luque, who is among seven people charged with culpable homicide over the World Cup-winner's passing, had requested for two members of the judicial panel to be removed from the case, over a fear of partiality. The request was denied, as the judges found the grounds of the request to be merely speculative and conjectural. The first trial into Maradona's 2020 death collapsed in May after one of the judges was sensationally revealed to have taken part in a clandestine documentary about the trial. A new three-judge bench was appointed in July to conduct a fresh trial. No date has yet been set for the new trial. Maradona was the star man of the Argentine side that clinched the FIFA World Cup in the year 1986 as the icon from Dique Lujan etched his name in history books with his astounding showings that made the world acknowledge his magical abilities on the ball. Maradona, regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, passed away in November 2020 at the age of 60 while recovering from brain surgery. He died from heart failure and acute pulmonary edema, a condition where fluid builds up in the lungs, a few weeks after the medical procedure. His medical team faced trial over the conditions of his home recovery, which prosecutors described as grossly negligent. They could face prison sentences ranging from eight to 25 years if convicted of homicide with possible intent or for pursuing a course of action despite knowing it could lead to his death. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
