By: Bernama Text Size: Some individuals allegedly taking soil from the grave of Nurly Shahirah Azman in the belief that it brings blessings. - BERNAMA Kuala Lumpur: Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, has called on Muslims to uphold proper burial etiquette and avoid practices that contradict Islamic teachings. His statement follows reports of individuals collecting soil from graves, believing it holds blessings. Mohd Na'im emphasised that visiting graves should serve as a reminder of mortality and encourage prayers for the deceased, not as an opportunity for superstitious acts. 'I have followed news reports about certain individuals allegedly taking soil from the grave of Nurly Shahirah Azman in the belief that it brings blessings. Such action is deplorable and goes against the principles of Islamic faith,' he said in a Facebook post. He warned against actions that could lead to shirk (associating partners with God) and urged Muslims to adhere to Islamic law. The minister also commended Nurly Shahirah's family for their measured response and the religious authorities for monitoring burial sites. Nurly Shahirah, a 23-year-old hafizah (Quran memoriser), was among the 15 UPSI students who died in a bus crash in Gerik earlier this month. Her family installed barriers at her grave in Kampung Gong Pasir Muslim Cemetery, Terengganu, to prevent further misuse. Mohd Na'im called for prayers for Nurly Shahirah's soul and strength for her family. GENERAL PUTRAJAYA, June 30 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is set to undertake an official visit to three countries, namely Italy, France, and Brazil, from tomorrow until July 7, which will include his participation at the 17th BRICS Summit. Senior press secretary to the Prime Minister, Tunku Nashrul Abaidah, said the visits to these major economic hubs - Rome, Paris, and Rio de Janeiro - aim to strengthen Malaysia's diplomatic ties and trade relations with the respective nations. He said these three markets collectively recorded bilateral trade valued at RM50.91 billion (USD11.14 billion) last year. 'The visits present opportunities for rapid growth in sectors such as the economy, culture, technology, and education,' he said during the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Daily Briefing today. In Italy, according to Tunku Nashrul, the Prime Minister is slated to hold a bilateral meeting with his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni to advance economic cooperation and pioneer joint cultural initiatives. A Business Roundtable will convene industry leaders from both countries, while dialogues with local Muslim community leaders and meetings with the Malaysian diaspora will highlight people-to-people connections and showcase Malaysian talent in Europe. In France, the Prime Minister is scheduled to meet with President Emmanuel Macron, with discussions focusing on trade, technology, and education. 'In addition to the roundtable with France's industrial giants, the Prime Minister will engage with local Muslim leaders, meet Malaysian citizens in France, and deliver a public lecture at Sorbonne University on July 4,' said Tunku Nashrul. Micro And Small Traders In F&B Sector Can Continue Using Subsidised LPG Cylinders
KOTA KINABALU, June 30 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has assured that micro and small traders in the food and beverage sector can continue to utilise subsidized LPG cylinders as long as they offer "rakyat prices" (affordable prices) to consumers. Its Minister, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, said that food and beverage vendors who offer services at reasonable prices need not worry, as they will continue to be guaranteed access to LPG subsidies. He stated that this is among the aspects considered in amending the Supply Control Regulations (Amendment) 2021 (PPKB (Amendment) 2021). Engagement sessions to gather feedback and views on the proposal will be held starting tomorrow until Op Gasak concludes on October 31. "Unlike the PPKB (Amendment) 2021, which only allowed the use of subsidised LPG cylinders not exceeding 42 kilograms at any given time, the implemented amendment will take into account the needs of micro and small traders in the food and beverage sector. "Besides recognising the needs of these traders, in this amendment, we will also look at control mechanisms in the context of ensuring that there are no leakages in this subsidy, especially related to smuggling and misappropriation," he said during a press conference here today. Earlier, Armizan attended the PPKB (Amendment) 2021 Engagement Session involving food and beverage traders' associations in Sabah to gather their views and feedback on the proposed amendment to the regulations. Armizan said feedback from micro and small traders in the food and beverage sector was crucial for establishing risk management to prevent leakages and, subsequently, ensure that no parties take advantage of public subsidies. He revealed cases of large-scale purchases of subsidised LPG gas, with some being used at business premises while the remainder was resold at certain prices to parties involved in misappropriation. "Therefore, we need to formulate control mechanisms related to the subsidised LPG cylinder issue," he said, urging traders' associations to hold engagement sessions with their respective members and submit memorandums of proposal directly to the ministry.
