Latitude festivalgoers bemoan 'chaotic' traffic delays
James Adamczuk described the traffic as "pretty bad". "It took us about two and a half hours to get in from the last six miles," he told the BBC."It was a bit chaotic and everything literally ground to a halt - but what can you do? You just have to be patient. "It was exacerbated by the rain and mud at the time but I think they could have put temporary traffic lights in and or stewards could have made it a little better."
Scott Siwicki said he was queuing to get on to the A145 and into the event for more than four hours."That's for a couple of miles, not the full trip," he told the BBC."There was no traffic control or marshals and unfortunately the problem stemmed from vehicles getting stuck at the entry point."
According to reports on social media, some festivalgoers faced delays of up to six hours from the likes of Woodbridge and Dereham. Another said she opted to turn her back on the traffic and booked into a Travelodge in Ipswich after hitting standstill traffic on the A12 about seven miles from the site."The only update we got was just after 22:00 BST when we arrived at the hotel, but it was too little too late," she said. "I get challenges happen but I'm appalled by the lack of communication - it is unacceptable."
This year's event is being headlined by Sting, Fatboy Slim, and Snow Patrol and is expected to attract 40,000 people each day. After Thursday's traffic issues, campervan and motorhome users are being urged to use Orange Gate 1 on the A145 to gain access, while day and weekend ticketholders should continue to use the A12.Latitude Festival was contacted for further comment.

Channel 4 comedy branded 'a gift' to be greatest comeback of 2025
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video They're back! After more than a decade, David Mitchell and Robert Webb are bringing back the sketch show with a brand new comedy. Channel 4 has finally released a first look clip and image from the upcoming series Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping, a brand new sketch show hitting screens in September 2025. The six-part season reunites comedy giants Mitchell and Webb on screen for the first time since 2017's Back and 12 years since the end of Peep Show, where they'll be joined by the next generation of comedy heroes, including Ghosts star and Great British Sewing Bee's best-ever host Kiell Smith-Bynoe, Lara Ricote, Stevie Martin, and Krystal Evans. The first preview of Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping shows a flustered Mitchell sweating his way through airport security, manifesting our biggest fears while also feeling terrifyingly accurate. It's painfully awkward, completely absurd and fans are already calling the show 'a gift'. While many viewers of the preview said they 'can't wait', Mitchell and Webb fan Henry Shevlin has high hopes the show will be even funnier. He wrote on X: 'Mitchell & Webb are probably my favourite British comedians so looking forward to this. The sketch itself isn't that brilliant but maybe C4 went for one with 'broad appeal' and the actual show will be weirder and nerdier.' Ahead of its launch, Mitchell and Webb said: 'When Channel 4 asked us to do another sketch show we were startled, bemused and available. 'It's a perilous time for the industry and so it's our hope that relaunching the trickiest genre of comedy is a brilliant piece of counterintuitive commissioning. 'And we're confident that unlike Roger Moore with his shoe on the bonnet of a car teetering on the edge of a cliff in For Your Eyes Only [REPLACE WITH 21ST CENTURY REFERENCE?] we're not about to give British TV comedy a final lethal nudge into the abyss. 'We're looking forward to working with our brilliant new cast despite their youth and talent and would like to encourage viewers to watch the advert break carefully and do their best to buy something. 'It doesn't have to be a car but, you know, a box of chocolates or an app or something.' More Trending Smith-Bynoe added: 'Getting to join this project with comedy legends Mitchell & Webb feels like getting to sit on the grown-ups table that you've been trying to get on for years, then you realise the grown-ups are just as funny, silly and they'll let you have a sip of Advocaat. 'I'm really excited to be a part of this long-awaited return of comedy royalty.' The duo's last sketch show, Mitchell and Webb Look, won them a Bafta for Best Comedy and ran for four seasons on the BBC. Next Bond movie will be written by Oscar nominated filmmaker behind iconic TV show
THE brains behind smash hit show Peaky Blinders has been signed up to write the next James Bond film – and he is promising to make it 'better, stronger and bolder'. Diehard fans of the suave spy had feared Bond would lose its identity after Amazon bought the franchise for $1billion in February. 2 2 But with 65-year-old Brummie Steven Knight at the helm, 007 expert Matthew Field says it is proof its British heritage will be preserved. He told The Sun: 'Amazon could easily have hired an A-list US writer but they chose Knight, a truly great British writer, who understands Bond's importance. 'He has a solid pedigree in film and TV that spans more than 25 years so it will be really exciting to see his world of Bond for a whole new generation of fans.' It is a job that Steven, who also wrote SAS: Rogue Heroes and co-created Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, says was always on his bucket list. Mega signing The youngest of seven children, he was raised by dad George, a blacksmith, and mum Ida, a bookie's runner. He has spoken about how gangster series Peaky Blinders, set in 1920s Small Heath, near Solihull in his home city, was inspired by tales of his dad's gangster uncles and his mum's work. The BBC drama ran for six series from 2013 to 2022, helping to attract record numbers of tourists to England's second city. The final outing became the BBC iPlayer's most streamed series of the year and the show is credited with seeing a resurgence in popularity for the names Arthur and Aida. Soldiers in Ukraine have even adopted the name Peaky Blinders for one of their military units. Married dad-of-seven Steven is a mega signing for Bond alongside Dune director Denis Villeneuve and producers David Heyman and Amy Pascal, known for the Harry Potter and Spider-Man films respectively. Brit acting legend admits he wants to play James Bond saying 'the world's gone crazy' if Amazon casts a US star for 007 Matthew says: 'It's a great collection of creative minds reinventing Bond. It's in really safe hands.' Before screenwriting, Steven trained as a blacksmith but admitted: 'I was useless at it.' After studying English at university, he wrote radio commercials, jingles and promotional game concepts for Capital FM under then-breakfast host Chris Tarrant in the Nineties. One game he developed was Cash Mountain, where players would be able to win an unlimited amount of money answering infinite, increasingly impossible questions until they got one wrong. However, he said: 'No one would insure that just in case, so we had to think of a limit, so we thought, well, a million, why not?' That concept became Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, which peaked at 19.2million viewers per episode and was adapted for around 100 countries. The success of the game show freed Steven to write what he wanted. When the 2022 Commonwealth Games came to Birmingham, he was an obvious choice to co-direct the opening ceremony. The industrial revolution-inspired show featured Sir Lenny Henry, UB40, Duran Duran, Ozzy Osbourne and a 33ft mechanical bull. Two years earlier, he received a CBE for services to drama and the community in Birmingham. He said he planned to celebrate 'Tommy Shelby-style' in reference to the main Peaky Blinders character and his love of whisky and cigarettes. Now the creative force behind Bond, he told BBC Radio 5 Live: 'I'm hoping that, being a Bond fan for so many years, it'll be imbued into me and I'll be able to produce something that's the same but different, and better, stronger and bolder.'

Mathew Horne fights back tears over sudden death of Gavin and Stacey colleague
Mathew Horne fought back tears while telling crowds he'd just been told a crew member from Gavin and Stacey had died. The actor, 46, starred as Gavin Shipman in the BBC comedy alongside Joanna Page, James Corden, and Ruth Jones since it began in 2007 until its final episode on Christmas Day 2024. He was being interviewed on stage for an In Conversation With session in Taunton, Somerset, when he suddenly became emotional and told the audience he'd only just received the news when it had been shared on the cast WhatsApp group. Horne said, via The Sun: 'Sorry. I got distracted. Earlier on… we had a driver on the finale called Rob and he was in his early 40s… and I found out via the Whatsapp group earlier that he has passed away and I got slightly distracted there. 'It's really, really sad. I got distracted by losing Rob. 'He was a really lovely guy and he's left a four-year-old behind and that is really, really, really sad.' Horne also shared how close the cast had become since bonding 'like a family' over the last 18 years. For the main actors, their lives changed beyond recognition and the show became one of the most popular British comedies of all time. He explained: 'In 2019, before the Christmas special – part one of the finale if you like – aired, I lost my mother and Alison really stepped up and she became my surrogate mother off screen as well. 'Whenever she texts me even now she signs it 'Mum'. And that is cool. That is so beautiful. And she says, 'How are you, my little prince?' It means the world to me.' Gavin and Stacey ended on Christmas Day, 2024, with a feature-length episode that attracted a staggering 19.1million viewers. Fans waited five years to find out if Smithy accepted Nessa's proposal to quickly discover he was getting married – but not to her. Instead, the episode followed Smithy gearing up to marry Sonia – his insufferable girlfriend who his friends and family couldn't stand. Thankfully, fans got their happy ending, Smithy jilted Sonia at the aisle and raced across the country to find Nessa and get down on one knee. There has, however, been talk of potential spin-offs with other characters such as Dawn and Pete, played by Julia Davis and Adrian Scarborough respectively, keeping the spirit of Gavin and Stacey alive.
