Rahul to launch ‘voter adhikar yatra' against SIR in Bihar
Making the announcement in a post on X, Gandhi said, 'From August 17, with Voter Adhikar Yatra, we are launching a direct fight against vote theft from the soil of Bihar. This is not just an election issue...it is a decisive battle to protect democracy, the constitution, and the principle of 'one man, one vote.' We will ensure a clean voter list across the entire country. Youth, workers, farmers, every citizen, rise and join this people's movement. This time, the defeat of vote thieves is the victory of the people, the victory of the constitution.'
Announcing the schedule of the yatra, Congress general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal said, 'To save our vote, our Constitution, our democracy, Gandhi, former Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav and other Mahagadbandhan leaders will embark on the yatra.'
'The yatra will kick-off with a mega launch rally in Sasaram on August 17, going through Gaya, Munger, Bhagalpur, Katihar, Purnia, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Pashchim Champaran, and concluding in Arrah on August 30,' Venugopal added.
'Those who have conspired to steal our vote and destroy our democratic system will be punished by the people. We will always fight to ensure that power stays with the ordinary people and is not snatched by those working for divisive forces, cronies, and the powerful,' Venugopal said.

Rahul Gandhi's 'Vote Adhikar Yatra' starts from Sasaram in Bihar on August 17
PATNA: With Bihar gearing up for assembly elections, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi is all set to launch 'Vote Adhikar Yatra' from Sasaram in Rohtas district on Sunday, to highlight the championing electoral reforms and exposing alleged in voter list through the special intensive revision (SIR). After landing at Sasaram, Rahul will visit Suara Aerodrome Ground near Sasaram, where he will address a public meeting and meet people from Tribal community. Later in the day, he will hold a roadshow at Dehri-on-Sone and start his 'Pad Yatra'. The 16-day Yatra, aimed at championing electoral reforms and exposing alleged in voter list through special intensive revision (SIR), will culminate in a grand rally in Patna on September 1. Leaders of INDIA bloc partners, including Tejashwi Prasad Yadav (RJD) and Dipankar Bhattacharya (CPI-ML), are expected to join the yatra. The Yatra will cover districts, including Gaya, Nawada, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai, Munger, Katihar, Purnea, Supaul, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, West Champaran, Saran, Bhojpur and Patna. On September 1, a mega Voter Adhikar Rally is scheduled to be held at Gandhi Maidan in the state capital, which will be attended by INDIA bloc leaders. Former Bihar Congress chief Alkhilesh Prasad Singh said that all necessary formalities like permission for landing of chopper and ground for public meeting have already been completed for the proposed 'Vote Adhikar Yatra'. Singh, who is a Rajya Sabha member, said that the Yatra will build a tempo in favour of Opposition INDIA bloc ahead of assembly elections in Bihar scheduled to be held in October-November. The Opposition alleged that SIR launched by Election Commission led to deletion of names of 65 lakh electors in state. 'EC's special intensive revision is a deliberate design to tamper with votes, disproportionately affecting backward, Muslim communities and migrant workers,' said Bihar Congress president Rajesh Kumar. He further said that on August 18, Rahul will start pad yatra which will pass through Dev Road Amba in Kutumba assembly constituency, covering Aurangabad district. On Saturday, Rahul on X said, 'Sixteen days, 20-plus districts, 1,300-plus kilometres. We are coming among the people with voter rights yatra. This is the right to protect the most fundamental democratic right'-'one person, one vote'. Join us to save the Constitution.'

Voter Adhikar Yatra' kicks Off In Bihar With Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav
The INDIA bloc will launch the 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' on Sunday from Sasaram to protest against the alleged irregularities in Bihar's voter list revision. The 1,300 km-long journey will be led jointly by the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, and the Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav. Senior leaders, including Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, CPI(ML) General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, and VIP chief Mukesh Sahani, will also join the yatra. Preparations were finalised on Saturday. The specially designed vehicle used during Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra has been remodelled for this campaign. Rahul will arrive at Gaya airport and proceed by helicopter to SP Jain College, Sasaram, where the yatra will be flagged off with a public meeting at noon. Over the 16-day campaign, Rahul Gandhi will engage with people both on foot and by vehicle, depending on the density of the population. The yatra will include two to three public meetings daily, along with roadshows and foot marches at various stops. Night halts have been arranged in tents at 13 different locations along the route. The first night's rest will be at Babhandih Sports Ground in Kutumba, Aurangabad. The Voter Rights Yatra, organised by the INDIA bloc, will cover 25 districts over 16 days and culminate with a massive public meeting at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna on September 1. A dedicated van for media personnel, decorated with posters of Rahul and Tejashwi, will accompany the yatra. According to the INDIA bloc leaders, the purpose of the campaign is twofold: to create awareness among voters about their rights and to expose alleged large-scale deletions from the electoral rolls, particularly impacting Dalit, backward, and minority communities. They claim such omissions pose a serious threat to democratic participation in Bihar. As per the schedule, the Yatra will start from Rohtas on August 17, will reach Aurangabad on August 18, Gaya and Nawada on August 19, and, August 20 will be a break. The INDIA bloc Yatra will resume from Lakhisarai-Sheikhpura on August 21, reach Munger and Bhagalpur on August 22, then Katihar on August 23, and Purnea and Araria on August 24. The alliance leaders will take a break on August 25 and resume their journey on August 26 from Supaul. They will reach Darbhanga and Muzaffarpur on August 27, Sitamarhi and Motihari on August 28, Betiah, Gopalganj and Siwan on August 29, Chhapra and Ara on August 30. August 31 will be a break, and the Yatra will finally culminate at Patna's Gandhi Maidan with a massive rally on September 1.

'Will always inspire', Rahul Gandhi pays tribute to Mountain Man Dashrath Manjhi
New Delhi: Ahead of his 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' from Bihar's Sasaram on Sunday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi paid tribute to 'Mountain Man' Dashrath Manjhi on his death anniversary and said that the latter will "always continue to inspire us all". In a post on the social media platform X in Hindi, he said that Manjhi's "struggle reminds us that if intentions are strong, no obstacle is too big". "His determination and passion to accomplish what he set out to do will always inspire us all," Rahul Gandhi said. Notably, Manjhi was known as 'Mountain Man' for single-handedly carving a path through a hill in Gehlaur village to connect it with Wajirganj block in Bihar's Gaya district. Dashrath Manjhi, a native of Gehlaur village, cut a mountain to make a road between his village and Wazirganj. It took him 22 years to work every day with a hammer and a chisel. When his wife died in 1959 after being injured from falling from the mountain, and the same mountain blocked easy access to a nearby hospital in time, he decided to carve a path. With this feat done single-handedly, he is revered by the Manjhi community. Noting his contribution, a stamp featuring Dashrath Manjhi was released by India Post in the "Personalities of Bihar" series on December 26, 2016. A Hindi movie, 'Manjhi – The Mountain Man', was released and well-received. Dashrath Manjhi has a larger-than-life image among the Musahar community. The Bihar government has built a statue and memorial of Dashrath Manjhi. Gehlaur is one of the tourist attractions in the district. A large number of Buddhists come to Bodh Gaya every year, and the majority of them also visit the memorial of the Mountain Man. Majhi's son, Bhagirath Manjhi, is a Congress leader and was inducted into the grand old party days after participating in the 'Samvidhaan Suraksha Sammelan' in Patna. Dashrath Manjhi's son-in-law, Mithun Manjhi, is in the JD(U).
