Brace for traffic snarls on Ajmer Rd for next fortnight

Time of India11-05-2025
Jaipur: Brace for traffic snarls on Ajmer Road for the next fortnight as the Gopalbari-bound flank of the elevated road on Ajmer Road will remain closed for at least the next fortnight.
"We are going to relay the surface of the elevated road on Ajmer Road – officially known as the Acharya Tulsi Setu. In the first phase, we are going to repair the Gopalbari-bound flank of the elevated road. It will take at least 15-20 days to complete the work," said a senior engineer of JDA.However, there won't be any restrictions on the Railway Over bridge (RoB) in Gopalbari, where the flank of the elevated road ends. Vehicles coming from the Jacob Road crossing of the Ajmer Road can use this RoB to reach the Gopalbadi-side. To facilitate this maintenance work, traffic movement on the Gopalbari-bound flank will remain suspended from 9 pm on Monday until the work is completed. This means traffic coming from the 200-Feet Bypass Crossing side won't be allowed to take this elevated road during this period."Traffic coming from the 200-Feet Bypass crossing or from the Vaishali Nagar side will have to travel by the Ajmer Road below this elevated road for the next 15 to 20 days. We have made an elaborate diversion plan and will deploy additional force on Ajmer Road during this period. Hopefully, traffic movement on Ajmer Road will remain smooth despite these additional vehicles," DCP Traffic Shaheen C told TOI.JDA engineers claimed that this will be the first major restoration work for this elevated road, which was inaugurated in October 2014 as the first elevated road of Jaipur. "A few stretches of this elevated road have deteriorated in the last 11 years and need to be completely restored. Rainwater from the metro tracks over this elevated road has made things worse over the years," an official added.Once JDA finishes work on one flank of the Acharya Tulsi Setu, the civic body will start restoration works for the other side of the elevated road.

Opening Of First Of ₹332 Crore Twin Ajni Cable-Stayed Bridges Postponed by Five Months

1 2 Nagpur: After encountering multiple hurdles, the work on the much-awaited Rs332 crore six-lane, twin cable-stayed bridges at Ajni, being constructed to replace the 125-year-old British-era railway overbridge (RoB), has started in full flow. However, due to changes required in design to get multiple approvals due to other infrastructure projects at the spot, the opening of the first bridge has been delayed. The Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (MRIDC) or MahaRail has now announced that one bridge will be opened to the public by the end of February next year — four months later than the originally scheduled opening in October. MahaRail MD Rajesh Kumar Jaiswal said it will be a remarkable structure, with eye-catching illumination. "The project was designed by a Taiwan firm, and was later approved by IIT Mumbai. The cable-stayed bridge needs multiple approvals, because of which the construction has been pushed forward till end of February 2026." The existing Ajni RoB is located between Ajni and Khapri Railway Stations over the Nagpur-Wardha section in the Nagpur division of Central Railway. However, since the bridge has outlived its life and regular traffic congestion, the six-lane, twin cable-stayed bridges were proposed, on the lines of Ram Jhula near the main railway station. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like video upload from file test Undo The work for the project started in April 2023, and MahaRail initially wanted to open one of the bridges by October 2025. However, it has been postponed now. "The new cable-stayed bridge will significantly reduce the traffic congestion in this area and will also add to the beauty of Nagpur city. MRIDC has taken a challenge to complete the first phase of RoB by February 2026, which will give major relief to the commuters," said MahaRail. MahaRail also claimed that one of the important things in the project is that traffic diversion is not required during the construction of the bridge since RoB is being constructed in two phases. MahaRail also claimed that it was very challenging and difficult to construct the foundation in between operational railway lines. "However, MRIDC has made remarkable progress. The work of the connecting beam has been completed, and a pylon at 52 metres height is being constructed above the connecting beam. The fabrication work of steel girders is almost 90% complete at the casting yard. Once completed, the girder will be transported to Ajni from the casting yard and installed," said the agency. Ajni RoB will provide direct connectivity to South and Central Nagpur. The new cable-stayed bridge will provide smooth traffic movement. "This cable-stayed overbridge will add architectural landmarks to the city. The proposed LED theme lighting during the night will enhance the beauty and will give an aesthetic appeal to the neighbourhood. There is provision of footpath on both sides of the cable-stayed bridge along with selfie points," said a MahaRail official. Box: BRIDGE IN TWO PHASES 1st Phase: Three-lane cable-stayed bridge, parallel to existing RoB, and its work is currently going on. Till construction is completed, traffic is allowed over the existing (old) bridge 2nd Phase: Old bridge will be demolished, and two-way traffic rerouted to new bridge. Second three-lane RoB will be built in place of the current Ajni bridge Final Traffic: Once second RoB is ready, each bridge will accommodate one-way traffic

Experts roped in for busy trafffic crossings

Jaipur: To address growing traffic congestion, the Jaipur Commissionerate's traffic department plans to engage a traffic institution for expert solutions at two major city junctions—the MI Road–Tonk Road Junction near the Yadgar traffic headquarters and the Govt Hostel Crossing near the Commissionerate headquarters. Officials said the rapid increase in vehicular traffic has turned these crossings into daily bottlenecks. The situation is expected to worsen with the upcoming construction of Jaipur Metro Line 2 by the Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC). The main line will pass through the Govt Hostel Crossing, while a spur from Chandpole Gate will link Line 1 and Line 2 at the same point. JMRC also has plans for metro connectivity to Ajmeri Gate. DCP (traffic) Shaheen C confirmed that preliminary surveys and measures have been implemented. "We are now seeking expert technical input and will appoint a third-party agency to suggest solutions. Institutions like MNIT and others are under consideration," she said. Meanwhile, the traffic department installed sensor-enabled signals at these two crossings. Such signals are installed at a few other crossings in the city, like the Rambagh Circle. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo "The time limits (for green or red) at these signals are not pre-set. These signals determine the volume of traffic on each flank and glow red or green according to the requirement. Recently, we installed these signals at these two crossings. Traffic movements at both crossings improved to some extent following the installations," said a senior traffic official. The traffic department also decided to install signals with illuminated poles at all the traffic signals across the city. This technology enables the lighting on the entire pole to be synchronized with the signal, which helps motorists to have a view of the signal, even if they are stranded behind a bigger vehicle.
