Travel chaos as ‘significant knock-on delays' after major rail service suspended due to ‘vehicle striking bridge'

RAIL services were suspended between two major Dublin stations after a vehicle struck a bridge this evening.
The issue, which occurred around 5pm, is now causing knock-on delays of up to 35 minutes due to "congestion" after rail services were suspended for a time earlier while staff checked out the crash.

At 5.18pm, Irish Rail posted on X: "Services are suspended between Connolly and Tara Street until further notice due to a vehicle striking a bridge.
"Staff en route. Significant knock-on delays can be expected due to congestion. Update to follow."
Services were still suspended as of 5.46pm, with Irish Rail posting a similar update on socials.
Then, at 5.50pm, it posted: "Update: Services are resuming between Connolly-Tara Street.

SHOPPERS fled an Asda shop this afternoon after an alleged bomb threat. A spokesperson for the chain told The Sun that the store in Bootle, Merseyside, was closed for around an hour at 11am this morning.
