On today's Beyond The Gates recap:
Leslie's Place: Leslie is going through and trashing her bills. Just then, Eva arrives with the groceries her mama asked her to buy. Leslie opens another letter about some sort of an inheritance but she thinks it's nothing. Eva says she's crazy to throw it away. Leslie says she's received similar letters before but thinks it's a complete con. Eva thinks it takes one to know one and they snark back and forth a bit.
Eva thinks her mother should try and be self-sufficient rather than running cons. Eva thinks all she wants in life are things that satisfy her need for rage and payback. Leslie is done and headed to the liquor store. In her absence, Eva takes the inheritance letter from the trash.
Leslie returns with alcohol in tow and sees Eva is gone along with the inheritance letter.
Smitty and Martin's Digs: Smitty is trying to leave but Samantha has clearly hidden his phone. Just then, Martin arrives with pizza in tow. Smitty clearly has no clue what's going on and they both realize the kids set them up. Samantha halfway admits to pulling the scheme. Martin and Smitty relent and game night commences.
They all sit down and immediately fights begin. Tyrell gets sassy and Martin steps in which leads Smitty to snap. The scene unravels into chaos. Tyrell takes charge and says they are capable of enjoying a game night in a civil manner.
Tyrell and Martin call out Samantha and Smitty for communicating with their eyes, especially when they win the game (Play.To. Win.). They all toast a long life to the Richardson/Smith game night.
Orphey Gene's: Regina arrives to see Naomi and Jacob. She asks how they met her sister and Jacob tells her the story and how he called Naomi to defend her for her arrest. Regina thinks June is a lost cause for abandoning her kids and can't forgive it. Naomi asks if she would want to reunite with the kids but Regina says it was a closed adoption. Before she can leave, Naomi pulls out documents about the children and the original foster care home.
Jacob asks who called CPS but Regina doesn't know. She wishes her sister would have let her help before things spiraled out of control. Naomi says they have to try to find out more information, but Regina just can't deal with any further disappointments. Regina pulls out a box of June's and asks Naomi to give it to her. She pulls out a letter June wrote for her but Regina never read it all. Naomi begs her to stay and return June's things herself. With that, Naomi and Jacob head out to drag June down to the restaurant.
Before they can leave, Jacob says they need to talk about his father and a possible coverup. Naomi knows and says her father retained her as counsel. Jacob is not surprised Vernon would do something to protect the family and keep them from talking. She says she hated not telling him the truth (not completely true).
Naomi returns with June to find Regina still there. The sisters immediately throw words but Naomi pushes June to sit and listen. Regina gives her the box of things including the letter. June doesn't remember writing it and takes a read. She freaks out a bit when she realizes the kids from the photo are actually hers. Regina takes the letter to read it as June is in tears. She says she misses her children so much and knows how much she failed them. Naomi steps in saying June loved those kids so much she called CPS on herself to give them the life they deserved. June and Regina have a moment and hold hands. June wonders if her kids are actually ok and Naomi promises not to stop until she finds out (Oh Lord…). Regina asks her sister to come home with her and she agrees.
Bill and Hayley's Pad: Bill apologizes for not getting out of a meeting but she knows how busy he is. Hayley says she wants to start living again but first wants to go to the hospital to see Dr Macy, who gave her the news about the miscarriage. She wants to check in with the doctor about trying again and if her body can take it. Bill thinks they have all the time in the world for that conversation but she wants answers. Bill agrees to head over to Garland Memorial.
Uptown: Eva meets up with Tomas and he hopes they can continue being friends. She agrees and shows him the inheritance letter.
Garland Memorial Hospital – Lobby: Dr Macy arrives to chat with Bill and Hayley. She says a miscarriage wreaks havoc on hormones. Bill wants to reschedule but Hayley wants to be examined right then. They all head off together into the exam room.
Leslie's Place: Eva returns and says there is a possibility the inheritance letter is real. Leslie isn't convinced but Eva continues by saying what's the harm in making the phone call.
Previous Beyond The Gates Recap:
Endings
Leslie calls about the inheritance and the person on the line says they thought they would never find her.
Dr Macy tells Bill and Hayley there doesn't seem to be any physical damage from the miscarriage and they can begin to try again in about three months. Hayley looks at Bill and says having a child is how she can show her love for him. Bill doesn't want her to agree for him and Hayley says it's for them.
Jacob returns and Naomi asks about the foster facility. He called the director and now knows the children in the photo are actually Tyrell and Samantha.

Reese Witherspoon Gets Candid About Balancing Her Career and Motherhood: ‘I'd Cry Working 14 to 17 Hours'

'Someone asked me what raising three kids and building a career in Hollywood looked like," the actress wrote on Instagram, while sharing a glimpse at it NEED TO KNOW Reese Witherspoon got candid about navigating motherhood in Hollywood, in an Instagram carousel on Thursday, Aug. 14 The actress confessed that although it was "challenging at times," being a mom showed her what is "important in life" She shares daughter Ava Phillippe, 25, and son Deacon Phillippe, 21, with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, and son Tennessee James Toth, 12, with her ex Jim Toth Reese Witherspoon is getting candid about how she balances motherhood with her career. The Oscar winner, 49, posted an Instagram carousel about parenting her children while navigating a successful career in Hollywood. The actress shares daughter Ava Phillippe, 25, and son Deacon Phillippe, 21, with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, and son Tennessee James Toth, 12, with her ex Jim Toth. In the Thursday, Aug. 14, Instagram post, the Big Little Lies actress began with a selfie posing with all three children. The text overlay read: 'Someone asked me what raising three kids and building a career in Hollywood looked like…' 'It looked like spending a lot of time in trailers together," she wrote on top of a selfie of her and Tennessee smiling in what appeared to be a trailer together. She continued sharing images of herself with each of her children, highlighting different and unusual elements of being a mother in Hollywood. Her next photo was a throwback selfie of her with Ava and Deacon in the back seat of a car. 'It looked like always being on the road together," The Morning Show actress wrote. She then shared a screenshot of a cheeky text between her and Ava, when her daughter informed her that she 'butt-dialed an Instagram live.' Witherspoon joked, 'It looked like my kids constantly giving me career advice!' The Oscar winner then confessed that 'it looked really hard sometimes.' 'I'd cry working 14 to 17 hours, sometimes all night long and still woke up early for carpool. I was deliriously tired,' she wrote. 'It looked like trying to say something positive about work when I got home at night. So my kids would know that my work was meaningful to me and could be fun!' As she capped off the post, she included a final throwback image with Ava, and wrote, 'In conclusion, even though it was challenging at times, having kids gave me perspective about what was important in life.' 'Nothing was better than getting to come home and hug them and hear about their day!' 'Grateful to stand alongside other moms in this beautiful, messy journey.💕,' she captioned the Instagram post. 'Tag the working mom who needs this. ☺️.' Witherspoon has been open about motherhood over the years. She said in a November 2021 InStyle interview with Gayle King that her kids are her "first, most important priority.' She added, "If I told you how much space in my brain they take up every day — do you even think they know, Gayle? I don't even think they know." The year prior, she told Drew Barrymore on her eponymous talk show, that although balancing motherhood with the demands of her career hasn't been easy, it has "truly worth it." "There's a lot of compromise ... You feel like that's what makes me wake up on a Sunday, it's not movies or my job, it's my kids," the actress said in the September 2020 interview. "Being a mom is really great, it's a big part of my life. I would say it's the biggest part of my life." Read the original article on People

‘And Just Like That …' Series Finale Recap: My Everything

Season 3, Episode 12: 'Party of One' Of all the mind-boggling choices the writers of 'And Just Like That …' have made this season, perhaps the wildest is forcing us, the audience, to watch a disgusting toilet overflow in the ostensibly final moments of this decades-long franchise. This week's episode — which, as we learned only a few weeks ago, is to be the series's last — was a cool 34 minutes. That's comparable to the lengths of the original 'Sex and the City' episodes and down from the roughly 45 minutes most of this season's episodes have clocked. I've noted in previous recaps that the shorter, tighter episodes are better paced, but this time things felt rushed, as if all the characters and their story lines needed more time. Everything and nothing happened in this episode. The finale of 'Sex and the City' included a romantic Parisian backdrop, a long-awaited confession of love, a bewildering slap and momentous lines like 'Go get our girl' and 'Carrie, you're the one.' This finale, which ended not only the series but also, most likely, the entire story, included no such pivotal moments. Instead, it simply tied up most of the conflicts in neat little bows and faded to black. In some ways, the ending was satisfying; there are no loose ends left. But what could have been compelling plot points are barreled through, check, check, check, like items on a to-do list. Taking place on Thanksgiving Day, everyone, for the most part, could be thankful for a happy ending: Seema, in the course of a single conversation, dismantles years of programming that made her believe she wanted marriage. She relaxes instead into a relationship with the wedding-averse Adam and enjoys gluten-free pie with his family while wearing jeans. Lisa puts the kibosh on the illicit romance budding between her and Marion, and despite acknowledging the patriarchal structure of marriage, she decides that is OK, and performs an impromptu vow renewal with Herbert in their bedroom.
