NEWCASTLE UNITED are exploring a swoop for RB Leipzig's 22-year-old Benjamin Sesko as a possible Alexander Isak replacement.
Isak rocked Newcastle on Thursday by telling them he wants to leave the club - with Liverpool ready to pounce for the £120million-rated striker.

The club are exploring a move for the 22-year-old Slovenian, but the finances of such a deal are understood to be difficult for the North East club.
Sesko was linked to Arsenal, Man Utd and Al Hilal earlier in the window.
The Gunners have since moved forward with a deal for Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres, while Man Utd have signed Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, leaving Newcastle a clear run at Sesko.
The 6ft 5in striker signed a new contract last summer that saw him drop a £55million release clause.
However, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Sesko has a "gentlemen's agreement" that certain clubs could see his fee reduced to £60-70million with add-ons.
The hitman netted 21 goals in 45 games last season across all competitions for RB Leipzig.
The Magpies are also working on a £30million bid for Brentford's Yoane Wissa.
The DR Congo international could be the latest Brentford star out the door following Mbeumo's move to Man Utd.

Isak, 25, spurred Newcastle to look at other options when the £150m-rated hotshot expressed his desire to leave the club.
The Magpies, who had hoped to tie the Swede to a new mega-money contract, had claimed his absence from Newcastle's pre-season trip to Singapore was due to a 'minor thigh injury'.
Newcastle contract blunder could cost them Isak
But Isak, who SunSport learned was complaining of the thigh and groin problems that dogged him last season while in Austria last week, is reluctant to sign a £300,000-a-week extension.
Instead he has informed the club that he wants to go and things could now accelerate despite Newcastle's Saudi owners still backing boss Eddie Howe's wishes and refusing to sell.
Howe stated Isak would 'absolutely' be on the plane after the 4-0 defeat at Celtic on Saturday - even though he sent Isak home from Glasgow due to him being affected by transfer speculation.
Newcastle knocked back Liverpool's approach last week and continue to insist they will not sell last season's 27-goal top scorer.
The Reds then hijacked Newcastle's move for Hugo Ekitike but Arne Slot still hopes to bring Isak in while Saudi side Al-Hilal are also keen.
Sun Sport reported how Isak's camp initially felt let down by Newcastle 12 months ago.

That was due to the promise of a pay rise from his current £130,000-a-week contract made by the club's former co-owners Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi failing to happen.
One of the first decisions from the now ex-sporting director Paul Mitchell was to postpone negotiations due to his contract having four years to run and a feeling he was already handsomely paid.
Despite Mitchell's departure and Newcastle's willingness to smash their £150,000-a-week pay ceiling to make him the best-paid player in their history, they now face a huge fight to hang on to their prized asset.
Meanwhile, Alan Shearer slammed his former club and claimed it was 'ridiculous' that they didn't just tell the 'truth' about Isak wanting away.
Toon's all-time top scorer told Betfair: 'It's ridiculous what Newcastle put out to say he wasn't on the trip because of a slight thigh injury. If they thought people wouldn't see through that - it was disappointing.
'They should've just told the truth straight away. I understand it's a very difficult situation for them but it is what it is.
'Isak has been brilliant for Newcastle, helped us achieve our dream of winning a trophy and if there's no way whatsoever that he can be persuaded to stay at Newcastle, then they have to get the best deal possible and if someone's prepared to pay what they want, you have to say thank you and build for the future.'
Shearer added: 'There's no individual bigger than the football club. Newcastle will be losing a world class player if he goes. Players leave football clubs all the time and get replaced. If that's the case here, it's disappointing but you have to say thank you and move on.'

Away from the senior squad, Newcastle have made South Korean Park Seung-soo the latest wonderkid to join their ranks.
The 18-year-old winger, the youngest professional goalscorer in South Korean football history, joined from K League 2 side Suwon Bluewings.
He is the latest talented teen to join the ranks on Tyneside following the recent captures of Spanish whizkid Antonio Cordero, Georgian forward Vakhtang Salia and Irish starlet Kyle Fitzgerald.

Hugo Ekitike's view on Liverpool role speaks volumes amid Alexander Isak transfer twist
Liverpool have just spent nearly £80m to sign Hugo Ekitike but already they've turned their attention to another striker in Alexander Isak, which could lead to some shuffling Liverpool new boy Hugo Ekitike insists he will "do what the coach asks me to do" as he maintained his versatility is one of his key attributes amid speculation that Alexander Isak could soon be joining him at Anfield. The Frenchman has just moved to the Reds from Frankfurt, joining for £79million after enjoying a breakthrough season with the German club. Ekitike was bought in and tipped to lead the line for Arne Slot's side as they look to retain their Premier League crown. However the situation surrounding Isak at Newcastle looks to have changed and it could open the door for Liverpool to break the British-transfer record for the second time in one summer. The Swede has made it clear he wants to explore his options away from St James' Park. A move to Liverpool is on his radar and that could leave Slot's new £79m signing, who was bought in to lead the line, having to move to accommodate Isak. However that appears to be something Ekitike is more than willing to do. He told the club's website: "I mean, I do what the coach asks me to do, but yeah, I like to do everything. I can't define myself only as a striker [who likes] to finish: I like to play, I like to be in the game, in the collective part of play [and] create also. So, I can do both – I can play alone and I like to play also with another striker and I think that's what makes me versatile, but you know now in this football you need to adapt." For the early part of last season Ekitike played in the Frankfurt attack with Omar Marmoush, who is now at Manchester City. It may be a case of the Frenchman either playing in tandem with Isak or being pushed out wide to allow the Swede to play centrally. Liverpool are due to bank £65m from the sale of Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich, which leaves them light of a player in attack, and now an official approach is now expected. Newcastle have made it clear they want to keep their best players, but if Isak does push for the exit door it could force the owners into making a decision. If Liverpool's offer approaches the £150m valuation they have for the player then the Magpies may be tempted to sell up and reinvest as they draw up a list of targets. Eddie Howe has confirmed that Isak will not be joining Newcastle on their pre-season tour amid all the speculation. The Magpies boss said: "The club will make the right decision with all the information that it has, and ultimately to try and move the club forward in whatever way that is. Then it's up to us to make good decisions the other way and try and improve the squad as best we can. That's what we're trying to do, regardless of Alex's situation."

Luis Diaz is STILL with the Liverpool squad as they visit Buddhist temple in Japan - despite Reds agreeing £65.5m deal with Bayern Munich for his sale
Luis Diaz accompanied his soon-to-be former Liverpool team-mates to Ekoin Temple in Japan on the second leg of their Asia tour, despite the Reds agreeing a £65.5million deal with Bayern Munich for his sale. The Colombian was omitted from the Premier League champion's pre-season clash against AC Milan on Saturday as his move to Bavaria drew closer. Diaz, who joined Liverpool from Porto in January 2022, was reportedly given permission to undergo his medical by the Anfield club following the agreement with Bayern. However, on Monday morning UK time, he was pictured with the Liverpool squad as they stopped by the 1,000-year old Buddhist temple. It has since been revealed by Fabrizio Romano that the winger is due to arrive in Munich on Monday ahead of his medical the following day. Liverpool rejected Bayern's initial advances and an offer around £58.5m insisting Diaz was not for sale, but the Germans returned with a second offer of £65.5m including add-ons. Liverpool made two separate attempts to agree a contract extension but failed to find accord as there was too big a gap between offers and demands. The Liverpool squad visited the 1,000-year-old Ekoin Temple in japan at the start of the second leg of their Asia tour Throughout the summer, Liverpool had been unwilling to sell but Diaz and his representatives pushed for a move. He first signalled a wish to leave in the summer of 2024, but the club held firm. On Saturday, manager Arne Slot confirmed that Diaz was left out of the squad to face AC Milan due to speculation surrounding his future, while Darwin Nunez missed out due to injury. 'One of the positions that we didn't have was a No 9,' Slot told LFC TV after the 4-2 defeat. 'We had one, Hugo [Ekitike], but he wasn't ready to play yet. Darwin was injured. Lucho [Luis Diaz] couldn't play as well. In Lucho's situation it was, yeah [the reason why he was left out]. 'There's a lot of rumours around him lately and I cannot go into that. He's training well with us but we have decided, for now, not to play him yet. 'I'm used to talking to most of my players on a regular basis. Like I said, Lucho is training really well and we've decided that he's not playing at the moment in the games. I cannot comment much more about that.' Liverpool retain an interest in Newcastle Alexander Isak while they also plan to add a centre back with Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace and Chelsea target Jorrel Hato, of Ajax, among names on their list.
