
Karnataka Lokayukta raids homes of three Bengaluru officials over illegal assets
The Lokayukta is continuing its investigation and is expected to examine documents and property records seized during the searches.The raids are part of a broader and sustained crackdown by the Karnataka Lokayukta in recent months. In June 2025, the anti-corruption agency conducted extensive searches at 45 locations across the state, seizing assets worth over Rs 34.90 crore from eight government officials accused of possessing disproportionate wealth. The coordinated operation was carried out in Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Kalaburagi, Dharwad, Hassan, Gadag, Shivamogga, and Chikkamagaluru.The Lokayukta had conducted a similar raid in April against a government engineer in Ballari; assets worth over Rs 8 crore were recovered, including luxury cars, properties and gold in that raid.In March, too, Karnataka Lokayukta Police conducted raids across the state in connection with disproportionate assets cases against eight government officers. Two of the accused government officers were from Bengaluru and one each from Kolar, Kalaburgi, Davanagere, Tumakuru, Bagalakote and Vijayapura.- Ends

Cash worth Rs 1.43 crore concealed in a secret chamber, bank deposits of Rs 1.32 crore, gold weighing 1.5 kg and 4.637 kg of silver, multiple residential properties, and high-value land parcels — these were among the assets unearthed by Odisha Vigilance after raiding a junior-rank forest official. Vigilance sleuths on Friday conducted simultaneous raids at six properties linked to Rama Chandra Nepak, a deputy ranger at Jeypore forest range in Koraput district, Vigilance said in a statement. The raids were conducted in Jeypore and in Bhubaneswar by multiple teams after allegations that the official possessed disproportionate assets. He is scheduled to retire from service after five months. Vigilance officials said they unearthed Rs 1.4 crore concealed in a secret treasury at one of his flats in Jeypore town. They used counting machines to count the large amount of cash recovered during the raids. They also found gold biscuits and gold coins during the raids. Among his immovable properties, the anti-corruption wing unearthed a three-storey building measuring approximately 3,600 square feet in Jeypore, a 3bhk flat with an area of 1,800 sq ft in Bhubaneswar, and two 1,500 sq-ft flats and two high-value plots in Jeypore town. Vigilance's technical wing is conducting detailed measurements and valuations of the identified properties, said officials. With the raids continuing, Vigilance sources said they may recover more properties linked to the forest official. He is likely to be arrested under the Prevention of Corruption Act. According to records, Nepak joined government service as a village forest worker in March 1989 at the Koraput social forestry division. Currently, he holds a deputy ranger rank and is the in-charge ranger of Jeypore forest range, receiving a gross salary of Rs 76,880 per month.

Assam Rifles Recovers 1.97 Kg Drugs Worth Rs 6.6 Crore In Mizoram
Aizawl (Mizoram): In a targeted operation, Assam Rifles recovered 1.97 kg of methamphetamine tablets worth Rs 6.6 crore from the Tuikhuahtlang area of Aizawl, Mizoram, officials said. Three individuals were apprehended during the joint operation. According to the Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) [HQ IGAR (E)], the operation was based on specific intelligence inputs. "Based on specific intelligence, a joint team comprising Assam Rifles, Aizawl Police, and the Narcotics Department established a vehicle checkpost to search for vehicles involved in drug trafficking on 24th July 2025, in the general area of Tuikhuahtlang, Aizawl," HQ IGAR (E) said in a statement. "During the conduct of operation, the team recovered 1.97 kg of Methamphetamine Tablets worth Rs 6.6 Crores hidden in the vehicle, which was occupied by three individuals", the statement added. The seized contraband and the apprehended individuals were handed over to the Excise and Narcotics Department in Aizawl for further legal proceedings. Earlier, Assam Rifles, in a targeted operation on Tuesday, seized heroin worth Rs 9.75 crore near the Indo-Myanmar border in Mizoram, said Assam Rifles in an official statement. Acting on specific intelligence inputs regarding narcotics trafficking, the security forces launched the operation in the general area of Crossing Point-1, Zokhawthar, and recovered 1.227 kilograms of Heroin No. 4, with an estimated market value of Rs 9.75 crore, from a TATA Intra V10 pickup vehicle. The vehicle was seized on the spot. The recovered contraband and the vehicle have been handed over to the Excise and Narcotics Department in Champhai for further legal proceedings. Further investigation is underway. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Assam Rifles celebrated National Flag Day at Tamenglong district, Manipur, at Don Bosco High School and several Company Operating Bases (COBs) in the Area of Responsibility (AOR). The event brought together students, teachers, and local people to spread awareness about the importance of the National Flag. A total of 600 local populace, including students, participated in the events organised within the AOR. Assam Rifles continues to organise such events to build a strong bond with the local people and inspire the young generation to be proud and responsible citizens of the country.
