‘My accent is very soft': Pierce Brosnan responds to criticism of MobLand accent

The Irish Independent's review of the series said Brosnan's speaking voice as Conrad was 'all over the shop and a huge distraction'.
In response to criticism, Brosnan told Radio Times: 'My own accent is very soft, Conrad's accent is a million miles away from me.'
He went on to explain that the inspiration for the accent was a man suggested by his dialect coach, adding: 'I told him that I needed a Kerry accent, so he gave me the name of a man and I googled the guy and that was it.
'It was a Kerry accent and so I just gave it full tilt.'
In the interview, Brosnan also spoke of the mix of worry and excitement he faces when taking on new roles.
The 72-year-old explained: 'Every job is a challenge and it all comes with a thump of anxiety, because you have to do something.
Brosnan was speaking in an interview with Radio Times magazine (Radio Times/PA)
'What are you doing on the stage? Why are you there? So that's constant. You live with that. You live with that stress all the time, and that's what's so exhilarating.
'That's what makes you alive.'
Brosnan is best known for playing James Bond from 1995 to 2002, starring in four films as 007 in GoldenEye (1995), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World Is Not Enough (1999), and Die Another Day (2002).
He has also starred in Mamma Mia! (2008), Mars Attacks! (1996) and Mrs Doubtfire (1994).
Brosnan will appear in a film adaption of Richard Osman's The Thursday Murder Club book, which is set for release in August.
The full interview can be read in the latest edition of Radio Times magazine.

The 30-second clip has left viewers scratching their heads as failed to give anything away as to what they might expect from the upcoming series. The short video has been released ahead of the Netflix TUDUM event which takes place today, Saturday May 31. The event is due to be located in Los Angeles and is an annual event which covers Netflix's biggest original works. ‌ Fans were surprised when the shock clip was sent on the Stranger Things Instagram broadcast channel without any warning. The clip is unclear but seems to feature several overlapping sounds, including banging and radio static waves. ‌ It also includes someone's voice, but it is hard to make out before the note "can't transcribe message" pops up. Since the clip was released, fans have been speculating as to what it could mean. One said: "You know it's bad when they got me hyped over an audio," as a second wrote: "Maybe it could be at the military base, the monsters are breaking thru the plates that's sealing the rift [sic]." While another fan simply said: "It's teasing something big." ‌ The next and final series of Stranger Things is due to be released at some point this year, with many fans hoping that a new trailer is released today at the TUDUM panel. It's been said that viewers can expect film-length episodes in the latest series as it concludes the fan favourite show. Stranger Things first graced our screens back in July 2016 and became a huge success ever since. Running for the last 10 years, the show will be back for its fifth season. ‌ Well-known faces Millie Bobby Brown, Sadie Sink, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Winona Ryder, David Harbour, and Jamie Campbell Bower will all be back for the last series. An official release date for the next series is yet to be revealed. Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin Henderson, has since opened up about what he would like to do career-wise after the show comes to an end. He told Radio Times: "I think a lot of weird, deeper character work would be really, really fun. My inspo for sure is Andy Serkis and everything he does. "He is one of the most talented, most expressive, most innovative performers that's alive right now, that's known for becoming not human several times, which seems like it would be absolutely terrifying, but so much fun. I just want to keep doing things that I'm bad at because I always like to challenge myself."

Katie Price 'pulls out' of 38-date tell-all tour with Kerry Katona

Katie Price has reportedly been forced to pull out of her much-anticipated 'tell-all' tour with friend Kerry Katona. The two noughties icons, who rose to fame as a glamour model and member of girlband Atomic Kitten respectively, met and forged a friendship when they pivoted to reality TV. Both starred on the 2004 series of I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, which Kerry won while Katie was introduced to her former husband – and father of two of her children – Peter Andre through it. However, 47-year-old Katie has now been forced to cancel her participation for all 38 proposed dates of the tour with Kerry, 44, which was due to run throughout September and October. An Evening With Katie Price & Kerry Katona was set to visit venues including Redditch Palace Theatre, Stockport Plaza, Grimsby Auditorium, Portsmouth New Theatre Royal and Watford Palace Theatre. 'Katie is gutted and tried everything she could to make it work but she has had to step away from the tour because she has childcare commitments and also a very busy schedule,' a source told The Sun. 'She hates letting her fans down and hopes to be able to do something similar in the future.' The insider said that it was 'unclear' at the moment whether Kerry would press on it with it as a solo endeavour or if the whole tour would be scrapped. 'There is no bad blood between Kerry and Katie, they're still best of mates, but it's a huge blow to their fans,' they added. A representative for Katie also confirmed to the publication that she had pulled out, citing 'childcare commitments that come first'. The tour was due to kick off on Thursday September 11 in Ellesmere Port before concluding in Hull on Wednesday October 22. It had promised to see Katie and Kerry share 'stories of their friendship, marriage and divorce, bankruptcy, I'm A Celebrity, the importance of family, their constant press attention and turning their lives around'. The show – marketed as 'strictly 16+ only' due to adult content – also promoted 'some song and dance and an opportunity for audience questions' on one venue's website. Meet and Greet VIP tickets were an option for the tour as well. Kerry and Katie previously co-starred on stage together last year when they played the wicked step-sisters in the pantomime Cinderella at the Northwich Memorial Court in Cheshire. Katie shared on her podcast at the time how Kerry helped get her cast in the show, which has reportedly broken theatre records in ticket sales. 'So Kerry got me the gig because she has been working with them for six years,' she explained. 'And she was like 'Why don't you come and do this panto', and she said it was for the ugly sisters and I said, 'Oh are we ugly then?' and she said we can still be really pretty.' Despite ups and downs in their friendship over the years, Katie and Kerry have become very close with the two said to be relying on each other quite a lot for emotional support in recent times. Speaking to The Mirror, a source claimed: 'Katie and Kerry are growing closer over their shared experiences of tough times – they've been a shoulder for each other to cry on. 'Katie didn't have the best Mother's Day; she was working and didn't see her kids, which was tough for her.' Mum-of-five Katie was busy with another panto, Pinocchio, meaning that she spent Mother's Day without her children – 23-year-old Harvey, 19-year-old Junior, 17-year-old Princess, 11-year-old Jett, and 10-year-old Bunny. More Trending Pinocchio, her adults-only pantomime, in which she appeared opposite 90s comedian Bobby Davro, saw one venue, Chesham's Elgiva Theatre, slashed prices in a bid to sell more seats last month. The theatre reportedly decided to offer buyers a second ticket for half price once they'd bought their own ticket, after huge blocks of seats were still available for both the matinee and evening performances, with just a week to go. Metro has contacted reps for Katie Price and Kerry Katona for comment. Got a story?
