Veiled warning to Raja Singh; Telangana BJP leaders asked to toe party line
HYDERABAD: BJP Telangana in-charge (organisation) Abhay Patil reportedly warned leaders not to speak to the media against the party line. According to sources, Patil is believed to have made it amply clear that all the leaders should abide by the party's decisions on various issues.
Patil, according to sources, was indirectly referring to MLA Raja Singh's recent statements. 'Claiming to be a senior leader or having won elections three-four times doesn't give anyone the right to speak as they wish. The statements of a few leaders are damaging the party. We have suspended a legislator in Karnataka because of such attitude,' he reportedly told the state leaders during a meeting.
Stating that a few leaders have been criticising the other leaders on social media, Patil revealed that the party was in the process of finding out who is behind such YouTube channels.
'We will take serious action against individuals who are spreading lies about our own party leaders,' he warned.
Meanwhile, an argument reportedly ensued between the leaders when Abhay Patil praised the Telangana unit for organising a successful Tiranga Yatra but criticised the yatra organised by their Karnataka counterparts.
Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, who was a co-incharge of the event in Karnataka, took objection to this and started arguing with the party in-charge. However, the other leaders countered Sudhakar Reddy while asking him to let Patil continue with his speech.

BJP & BJD spar over govt's one-year performance
Bhubaneswar: With the BJP-led govt in Odisha nearing its first anniversary in power, ruling party MLAs and opposition BJD locked horns over the administration's performance on Wednesday, highlighting contrasting narratives of success and systemic failures. BJP MLAs Jayanarayan Mishra and Irasis Acharya, separately praised the Mohan Charan Majhi-led govt for what they termed as "widespread development" across the state. "This has been a historic year for Odisha," said Sambalpur MLA Mishra, emphasising significant initiatives for farmers and women's welfare, during a media interactions on the anniversary of party's election victory in Odisha. He also challenged the BJD to account for its previous 24-year tenure. Bhatli legislator Acharya said the govt and BJP would present detailed report cards showcasing its "glorious performance" across various sectors. "From farmers to women, youth to the poor, Odisha has witnessed remarkable positive changes," he claimed. However, BJD spokesperson Lenin Mohanty countered these claims by citing a May 15 note sheet from the chief minister's office that acknowledged significant administrative delays. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo "Files are pending at various levels without sufficient justification, from ministers to department secretaries and directors," Mohanty told a press conference. He criticised the govt's plans for grand celebrations, questioning their appropriateness when internal communications indicate administrative bottlenecks. "How can they celebrate so-called successes when their own documents reveal systemic failures?" he asked. The political face-off comes exactly one year after BJP's victory in the assembly election, marking the end of BJD's long tenure in power.

Police station in-charge's vehicle stolen in Tripura's Bishalgarh, triggers row
Unidentified people stole a vehicle belonging to the Bishalgarh women police station in Tripura's Sepahijala district on Monday evening, right in front of a crowd of onlookers, prompting criticism from the CPM that the ruling BJP's 'tactics of using anti-social elements to suppress the Opposition voices' had got out of hand. The Mahindra Bolero, belonging to the police station in-charge, was learnt to have been parked near an old fuel station in the area when it was stolen. Eyewitnesses said two people reached the area riding a scooter, quickly snatched the keys of the Bolero, shoved the driver out and fled with the parked vehicle. Two more people arrived in a van. A local shopkeeper described the sequence of events and said the entire act happened so swiftly that by the time the police arrived—about five minutes later—the men had vanished. A woman, who was also a witness to the theft, shared her dismay and shock at such a daredevil crime in public. Hours later, two people were stabbed and robbed of Rs 11.5 lakh in the Rastarmatha area under the Bishalgarh rural development block on Tuesday. Sagar Miah, a resident of Matinagar in the area, said he and his father Harej Miah were on their way back home with the money they sold a plot of land for when a gang of three people attacked them with knives, injured him and his father badly, and fled with the money. Incidents of robbery, snatching, theft, petty crimes, stabbing etc have been on the rise in parts of Bishalgarh recently. On Tuesday, Inspector General (Law and Order) Ipper Manchak visited the area where the police vehicle was stolen. 'We are trying to track the criminals. In the incident of robbery, the victim is hospitalised. We are trying to verify all sources. Once all information is available, an FIR will be registered and culprits will be identified. On the theft of the police vehicle, we have started naka checking everywhere. When the culprits are caught, we can say for certain who were behind this,' he said. Sepahijala Superintendent of Police Bijoy Debbarma told reporters that the police were also looking at the source of the money claimed to have been stolen. 'Usually, people don't keep such huge amounts of cash. They have given some clarification on how they got the money from cattle sale, paddy sale and money sent by a relative staying in Qatar, but the amount of money still doesn't add up,' Debbarma said, adding that Sagar Miah's claim that he might go abroad if he gets necessary permissions and that he needed the money for that purpose was also not entirely convincing, either. Meanwhile, CPM Bishalgarh subdivisional secretary Partha Pratim Majumder said the proverbial genie had got out of the bottle now, blaming the rise in such crimes on the BJP's alleged use of anti-social elements against Opposition parties. BJP state spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharya termed the allegations 'baseless'. They (CPM) don't have anything to say. They try to concoct stories. We don't have anything to do with anti-socials. History stands testimony to the fact that the CPM does politics with the support of anti-socials. Communists have sympathised with Naxals recently and members of that party fraternise with anti-socials at the local level. The police will act freely (in Tripura),' he said. IG Ipper Manchak said the pattern of crimes was changing as urbanisation and prosperity increased in the state. 'Earlier cattle thefts used to occur. That pattern is no longer the same. Police are working on this new pattern. Police will have to change tactics. If there is any individual or criminal organisation behind it, we have to go deeper. This is nothing out of control. Thirty per cent of property crimes have come down since last year. Cybercrime is one of our main priorities now. That is many times higher than this. All incidents will be followed by detection and punishment,' he said. Despite the crimes reported in close succession to each other in Bishalgarh, the official defended the overall law and order situation. 'Crime is coming down across the state including in Bishalgarh. Especially property-related crimes and NDPS cases are under control,' he said.

Nothing less than treason, says BJP on Rahul Gandhi's ‘surrender' remark
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday (June 4, 2025) accused Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi of insulting the armed forces and the country with his remarks aimed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The party described the remarks as 'nothing less than treason'. On Tuesday (June 3, 2025), Mr. Gandhi had alleged that Mr. Modi 'immediately surrendered' after receiving a phone call from U.S. President Donald Trump, referring to the decision to suspend Operation Sindoor on May 10. 'Rahul Gandhi's terming the unmatched valour and courage of the Indian armed forces a 'surrender' is not only unfortunate but also a grave insult to them, the nation, and 140 crore Indians. If any Pakistani had said this, we would have laughed at him. However, after the manner in which Operation Sindoor wreaked havoc in Pakistan, no one from Pakistan -- from its army to even its Prime Minister -- dared to say this, but Rahul Gandhi has said this! This is nothing less than treason,' said BJP chief J.P. Nadda through a post on X. Mr. Nadda said: 'The Indian armed forces penetrated 300 km into Pakistan, destroyed 11 of its airbases, demolished nine terrorist bases, and killed more than 150 terrorists. A wailing Pakistan has been telling the world that the Indian armed forces destroyed everything at the 18 places they attacked, and Rahul Gandhi talks about the 'surrender' of the country!' 'Rahul Gandhi should know that the success of Operation Sindoor was not announced by the government or any BJP spokesperson, but by senior officers of the Indian armed forces,' he said, adding that the operation was a declaration of their bravery and valour. 'In reality, those whose policies have been of surrender cannot think of anything beyond this -- Isn't it so, Rahul Gandhi?,' asked the Union Minister. 'Rahul Gandhi, you may have surrendered, your party may have surrendered, your leaders may have surrendered -- your history has been like this -- but India never surrenders. 'Surrender' is in the dictionary of your party Congress, it is in your DNA... you should remember the tenure of your party's governments and how you 'surrendered' in history,' he said. Mr. Nadda said: 'You surrendered to terrorism, surrendered in 'Sharm el-Sheikh'; surrendered at the table in Shimla after winning the 1971 war; surrendered in the Indus Water Treaty; surrendered Haji Pir Pass; surrendered 160-km area of Chhamb sector; surrendered in the 1962 war; surrendered in 1948; and even surrendered to the Muslim League at the time of Independence of the country.' Earlier, at a press conference, BJP MP and spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said Mr. Gandhi's comments reflected a 'sick and dangerous' mindset and accused the Congress leader of speaking in support of Pakistan. Responding to a query, he said: 'On the issue of the U.S. President's statement, the Government of India has clarified a number of times that there was no-third party mediation.'
