
Chipotle's own staff slam first menu change in 5 years: 'Whoever approved this has broken taste buds'
The chain's first new dip in five years, Adobo Ranch is a combination of sour cream, herbs, spices, and adobo pepper. It will launch nationwide on June 17.
'Adobo Ranch gives our guests even more ways to customize their meals and explore bold new flavor combinations with our real ingredients,' Chipotle chief marketing officer Chris Brandt told DailyMail.com.
Unfortunately, what the restaurant chain hoped was a creative innovation has made several employees lose their appetites.
'Was so hype for this and it's actually dogs***,' a worker wrote on a Reddit thread, claiming that people who approved it have 'broken taste buds.'
'Tried it at a location in Ohio and it really wasn't that good,' another person wrote.
Several customers also chimed in on the discussions and were just as unenthusiastic about the idea of the dip as Chipotle employees.
'YIKES! That sounds terrible,' one user wrote. 'It looks terrible. I can hear the refunds from here,' another said.
But some Reddit users are excited to try what they believe will be a 'delicious dip.'
A couple commenters believe if the dip has lime juice, it could have a better chance of winning over fans.
'Idk, sounds like it has potential. They probably need to add some lime,' a Reddit user wrote.
'I'm pretty sure all it needs is some lime juice. Not joking,' another person responded.
Chipotle first tested the dip at select locations in California and Ohio last summer.
However, the chain didn't want to expand it nationally until receiving guest and employee feedback.
The initial reviews turned out positive, and TikTok food blogger how.kev.eats said the ranch should be at 'every location' after pairing it with the Smoked Brisket, which the chain brought back after a three-year hiatus.
'Chipotle ranch! The best kind of ranch anywhere!,' an enthusiastic commenter responded to the video.

Besides the sauce, Chipotle drove social media crazy after releasing its limited-edition Honey Chicken.
The chain also survived the effects of inflation, rising restaurant prices, and shocking bankruptcy rumors.
Its long streak of rising sales ended during this year's first quarter after its comparable restaurants sales fell 0.4 percent.
However, the chain earned $2.88 billion in net revenue during the quarter, a 6.4 percent increase from the same time last year.
The chain is working to bounce back from the sales slump and is planning to open its first restaurant in Mexico next in 2026.
The chain is scheduled to release its second quarter earnings report on July 23.
Until then, fans can stop by a participating US location and participate in the 'Summer of Extras' event, which will give Rewards members the chance to score extra points and benefits now through August 31.

The ultra-wealthy are ditching their second homes in London and buying up luxury properties in glamorous Miami, Florida, a new report has found. Ultra high net worth (UHNW) individuals, people with a net worth of more than $30 million, make up an exclusive group with a population of around 480,000. Members of this elite group own an average of three properties per individual, and a report from the information services firm Altrata found that Miami is the leading city for them to purchase luxury second homes. 'Miami is the most popular second-home location in the US, and globally, with a total of 13,211 UHNW second-home owners,' according to Altrata's report, Residential Real Estate 2025: Spotlight on the World's Leading Markets for the Wealthy. Notably, the Billionaire Buyers in London mid-year 2025 survey conducted by Beauchamp Estates found that over 70 percent of wealthy sellers are ditching their second homes in the UK capital and heading to cities such as Miami. Miami real estate agents told the Daily Mail they have worked with numerous international clients buying trophy homes in their city. 'We've seen some interest from London-based buyers recently, many of whom are reallocating funds from the UK market into Miami, diversifying their holdings,' said Maria Kuzina, owner of Miami Luxury Real Estate . 'London buyers currently represent, I would say, around three to five percent of all international buyers in the luxury market.' Jay Batra of the Batra Real Estate Group said: 'Miami continues to attract a diverse range of international buyers. Colombians, Brazilians, Russians, and Canadians are among the largest groups of foreign nationals investing in second homes here, drawn by the city's vibrant lifestyle and unique real estate opportunities. 'Miami Beach has historically seen 70 to 75 percent of its homes owned as second or third properties by buyers from across the US and around the globe.' He said driving factors bringing the ultra-rich to The Magic City include the warm weather, sandy beaches and low taxes. 'Miami has experienced strong growth of its wealthy second-home population over the past five years,' Altrata's report said. 'The city has long been a popular location for wealthy buyers seeking an additional residence, attracted by Florida's favorable tax regime, warm climate and coastal setting.' Kuzina said her clients are drawn to Miami because 'it strikes a perfect balance between lifestyle and investment opportunities'. 'Miami remains a top choice for international buyers due to its year-round sunshine, tax advantages, waterfront lifestyle, and its growing status as a global luxury hub,' she added. 'Today's buyers seek high-end, move-in-ready properties with privacy, premium amenities, and architectural distinction. Branded residences are particularly appealing as they offer world-class design, luxury services, and strong resale value.' Batra explained that his international clients are looking for properties on the water with ritzy amenities. 'Condo buyers are drawn to the stunning water views, prime locations, and vibrant lifestyle that Miami and Miami Beach offer, paired with the convenience of being steps from the beach,' he said. Miami at been at the epicenter of a condo crisis after the 2021 collapse of a condo building in Surfside led to a new law that requires condo buildings to undergo structural inspections and shore up reserves. This has meant that many HOAs have been hiking fees and doling out hefty special assessments to comply with the new rules, which has reduced demand for condos. 'In Brickell, the allure lies in luxurious high-rises with breathtaking views and top-tier amenities like pools, gyms, and more - all within close proximity to workplaces.' He added that buyers searching for houses rather than condos tend to look for properties with a type of longevity. 'For those searching for houses, priorities shift to spacious yards, waterfront properties, private pools, and a sense of privacy. Buyers also focus on neighborhoods with strong potential for long-term value and appreciation,' Batra said. 'Additionally, flexibility is key; they often seek homes that can be easily rented out for a few months to a year if needed.' Batra admitted that some buyers are wary of Florida's turbulent housing market due to soaring HOA fees, skyrocketing insurance costs, and in some cases, hefty special assessments imposed by homeowners' associations. 'Buyers, both local and international, are increasingly concerned about rising costs. High insurance premiums and common charges are climbing across the board, adding to the burden already posed by elevated interest rates,' Batra said. 'These combined expenses are making it more challenging to purchase and maintain homes.' He noted that some of his clients have opted to purchase their homes in all-cash to escape these burdens. 'However, I've observed a growing trend among cash buyers, who are stepping in to offset these monthly costs,' he said. 'In fact, the most recent transaction involved an all-cash buyer, reflecting the strong demand in this segment.'

Zillow CEO reveals what he thinks caused America's 'housing crisis'
Americans everywhere are struggling to purchase homes, with sales reaching a 30 year low in 2024. Despite the tribulations of the housing market itself, the number one real estate site in the country - Zillow - is thriving. CEO Jeremy Wacksman sat down with The New York Times to discuss what may be causing the dip in the housing market and what keeps Zillow afloat amidst it all. The Seattle resident was appointed as CEO a year ago, but has been with the company since 2009. Wacksman added that the major issue with homebuying in the United States is that there is an availability problem. 'We have an affordability crisis, which is driven by an availability crisis. It is a supply-side problem,' he said. While many complain about increasing mortgage rates, he said that it's only a small factor. 'The real problem for a home buyer is home prices are up 30, 50, 70, 100 percent, depending on the market, from pre-pandemic levels. Incomes are not up that much.' According to the US Social Security Office , the average yearly income in 2023 was $66,621, only increasing 4 percent from the year prior. Wacksman noted that if the housing industry had continued to build new properties to keep up with buyer demand, it may not have become the 'crisis' it is today. 'We have been chronically under-building since, really, the global financial crisis,' he said. 'Less supply and a lot of demand is going to keep home prices elevated.' According to Zillow , the average home value is almost $370,000 with just 1.3 million homes in the for-sale inventory. Despite the dip in purchasing and sky-high prices, Zillow is seeing hundreds of millions of unique visitors every month. The company has seen a jump in revenue and its stock is up more than 60 percent. The top site for real-estate listings in the country attracts what the internet has dubbed 'Zillow Surfers.' Those with little to no intention of purchasing a home browse on the website everyday. Wacksman welcomes such browsers. ''Zillow Surfing' is pretty pervasive, regardless of if it's a buyer's market or a seller's market,' he said. 'You spend all this time window shopping and escaping and dreaming. You are getting a little smarter about what you might want, and then something happens and you pull the trigger. 'As a marketer, I don't think you could have a stronger brand endorsement than all of the usage you get from people escaping on your platform.' The way Zillow makes money is by selling ads to real estate companies who want to reach those endlessly scrolling Zillow-surfers. The company requires agents to post listings within 24 hours of being on the market . If not, it's never allowed on the site at all. Real estate companies like Compass have grown wary of Zillow, and even filed a lawsuit claiming they maintain a monopoly, calling it a 'Zillow ban.' But Wacksman said that the lawsuit itself speaks to the larger issues of seller transparency within the United States housing market. 'The heart of the issue is the U.S. real estate market currently exists with a unique amount of transparency,' he said. 'So you and I, as a buyer and seller, can see all available listings, and that empowers us to shop on our own. There are a few companies that are looking to put the internet back in a box and hide inventory and force you to pay them. 'The lawsuit is about challenging that consumer benefit and that transparency.' Now, Zillow is trying to shift toward a 'super app' structure that allows buyers to be connected with any resources that they may need. That includes mortgage providers and rental properties as well as any other related services.
