Eric Adams hops onto Instagram wagon, posts video with contradictory clocks
Time stopped at Gracie Mansion on Monday.
We all know Mayor Eric Adams isn't above hopping onto the latest Instagram trend, as he proved once again this week by posting his 'morning routine' for his 126,000 followers.
The already-ebbing trend involves filming yourself while preparing for the day ahead.
The footage is then spliced together and edited, and corresponding timestamps added.

In Adams' post, we get to see Hizzoner shaving, ironing his dress shirt, and making a smoothie for himself.
He also filmed himself eating fresh fruit for breakfast, and leaving Gracie Mansion for the Chevrolet Suburban High Country that ferries him around the city.
But a standard black-and-white wall clock visible in part of Adams' video appears to show the mayor started his day two hours later than claimed.

As the Mayor is seen preparing his smoothie, for instance, the clock in his expansive kitchen reads 11 a.m., while timestamps on the clip claim the footage was filmed at 9 a.m.
A City Hall spokesperson accounted for the apparent time discrepancy, claiming the wall clock's batteries had died shortly before Hizzoner chose to film his daily routine

Adams 'starts his day very early,' and the footage 'caught [the clock] at a weird time,' a spokesperson told The Post.

Many Instagram users also spotted the clock disparity, and had to comment.
'Your clocks all say it's around 12 p.m.,' reflected another of Hizzoner's followers. 'Did you mean to say this is your morning routine Turkish time?'

Omegle: Anonymity, Connection, and the Internet's Digital Wild West
In a world dominated by social media platforms that prioritize curated content, verified profiles, and friend-based networks, Omegle stands as a stark contrast — a space where anonymity rules, strangers connect at random, and anything can happen. Since its inception in 2009, Omegle has attracted millions of users across the globe, seeking everything from casual conversations and cultural exchange to spontaneous fun and unpredictable interactions. But what lies beneath the surface of this curious website? And why has it remained so relevant in an age of ever-evolving online communication? This article takes an in-depth look at Omegle: how it works, why people use it, the controversies surrounding it, and how it fits into the broader narrative of digital connection in the 21st century. Omegle is a free online chat website that pairs users with strangers from around the world. Its key selling point is simplicity: no registration, no profile, no need for usernames. With a click of a button, you're connected to someone you've never met, and the conversation begins — either through text or video. Originally launched as a text-only platform, Omegle soon added video chat functionality, followed by features like interest tags, moderation options, and language filters. At its core, however, the platform remains the same: a place where two anonymous users meet and talk — and then move on. Why would someone choose to talk to a stranger online, especially without any form of identity verification? The answer lies in psychological freedom. Anonymity removes the pressure to perform or conform. Users often feel freer to express their thoughts, share secrets, or behave playfully in a way they wouldn't on Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok. Omegle creates a digital space where users can: Be themselves without fear of judgment Explore different perspectives and cultures Fight loneliness through spontaneous interaction Laugh, vent, flirt, or roleplay without consequences In many ways, Omegle serves as a digital confessional booth, comedy stage, and global living room all in one. Omegle's user base is surprisingly diverse. While it's particularly popular among teens and college students, users span all age groups, professions, and regions. Some common reasons people log on include: Curiosity: First-time users often log on just to see what the hype is about. First-time users often log on just to see what the hype is about. Boredom: Many users hop on Omegle when they have free time or can't sleep. Many users hop on Omegle when they have free time or can't sleep. Entertainment: Watching strangers react to jokes, music, costumes, or pranks is a popular trend. Watching strangers react to jokes, music, costumes, or pranks is a popular trend. Social Interaction: For people isolated geographically or socially, Omegle offers a quick connection to another human being. Language Practice: Non-native English speakers often use Omegle to improve their conversation skills. Using Omegle is easy: Visit the Website: Go to Choose Your Chat Type: Select between text or video chat. Add Interests (Optional): Enter keywords that represent your interests to be matched with similar users. Start Chatting: Omegle connects you to a random user. If you don't like the conversation, disconnect and start again. Moderated or Unmoderated: Video chats can be moderated or unmoderated. Moderated sections attempt to filter inappropriate behavior, though not always effectively. No accounts. No downloads. No names. Few platforms have influenced internet culture as much as Omegle. It has been featured in: YouTube videos showing musical performances or comedic interactions showing musical performances or comedic interactions TikTok compilations of funny or heartfelt moments with strangers of funny or heartfelt moments with strangers Memes and forums that reference the bizarre or hilarious nature of Omegle conversations Omegle has become a kind of performance space for aspiring musicians, comedians, and pranksters. Its unpredictable nature means no two interactions are the same, and that spontaneity has become a valuable form of entertainment. Despite its charm and popularity, Omegle has faced intense criticism — particularly for failing to protect its users, especially minors. The platform has been under fire for the following issues: Omegle's unmoderated video chat is rife with explicit content. Despite warning messages and reporting tools, users — including underage ones — can be exposed to nudity, sexual behavior, and adult conversations. While Omegle states users must be 18+ (or 13+ with parental permission), there is no actual mechanism to verify this. This loophole allows minors to use the platform unsupervised. Numerous reports and investigations have exposed instances of predatory behavior on Omegle. Some predators exploit the anonymous nature of the platform to groom or exploit vulnerable users. Verbal abuse, racist comments, misogyny, and cyberbullying are prevalent on Omegle, especially due to the anonymity factor. With no accountability, some users behave maliciously. While Omegle claims not to store conversations long-term, temporary logs are kept for monitoring. Additionally, IP addresses can be used to approximate a user's location, which raises privacy issues. If you choose to use Omegle, safety must come first. Here are tips to protect yourself: Don't Share Personal Info : Never give out your full name, phone number, social media, or location. : Never give out your full name, phone number, social media, or location. Use a VPN : A VPN hides your IP address, making it harder for others to track your location. : A VPN hides your IP address, making it harder for others to track your location. Log Off When Uncomfortable : If a chat turns toxic or threatening, disconnect immediately. : If a chat turns toxic or threatening, disconnect immediately. Parental Supervision: Parents should closely monitor their child's activity if they access platforms like Omegle. As Omegle's problems have become more widely known, several alternative platforms have emerged: A pioneer in random video chatting, Chatroulette focuses on visual interaction and has added stronger moderation over time. A modern take on Omegle, Emerald Chat emphasizes user safety and has implemented reputation systems to discourage bad behavior. Offers random video chatting with optional gender filters and more advanced moderation tools. A female-focused video chat platform that aims to reduce explicit content and abuse by limiting access to verified users. Designed with Gen Z in mind, Monkey allows short video calls with matched users and includes gamified elements. Despite the rise of social networking giants and stricter digital laws, Omegle continues to maintain a loyal user base. Why? Novelty : The randomness of who you'll meet keeps it fresh. : The randomness of who you'll meet keeps it fresh. Anonymity : Unlike social media, Omegle doesn't demand your identity. : Unlike social media, Omegle doesn't demand your identity. Accessibility : No downloads, logins, or credit cards required. : No downloads, logins, or credit cards required. Low Commitment: Conversations can last seconds or hours, entirely at your discretion. But relevance comes with responsibility. If Omegle wants to thrive in an era of increasing digital accountability, it must adapt — implementing AI moderation, enforcing real age restrictions, and providing more transparency. Omegle is a fascinating platform — part social experiment, part entertainment venue, and part cautionary tale. It opens the door to raw, human interaction without filters or expectations. That's a rare thing in our polished, profile-based world. But Omegle is also a digital wild west, where freedom comes with serious risk. Whether you view it as a fun chatroom or a dangerous platform depends on your age, intentions, and online experience. For adults who understand the risks and use the platform wisely, Omegle can be a place of surprising connection and amusement. For younger users or those seeking a safer experience, Omegle is best approached with caution or avoided altogether. TIME BUSINESS NEWS

Woman's Wild Discovery Watching Dad's Old Home Movies: 'For His Eyes Only'
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A woman got more than she bargained for while looking back through her dad's home movies from when she was growing up in the 1990s. Few things bring families together quite like looking back through old photographs. A 2023 poll of 11,000 parents conducted by The Pulse Business on behalf of family photo journal app BackThen found 94 per cent of respondents said looking at their child's photos together as a family helped them to feel more connected to each other. In the same poll, 89 per cent of parents said they felt looking at family photos increased their child's sense of belonging. For families like Kelly Brouk's, looking back through home movies, recorded on her dad's old VHS camcorder, serves as an extension of this. Brouk and her two siblings enjoy few things more than "reminiscing over old memories." Kelly Brouk saw her mom and dad's relationship in a whole new light. Kelly Brouk saw her mom and dad's relationship in a whole new light. Instagram/motherknowswest_ "We have hours upon hours of home videos," Brouk told Newsweek. "My Dad was the quintessential 90s Dad—always with a Camcorder in tow. He captured SO many memories we still watch and laugh about to this day." But Brouk has been forced to reassess some of those memories now after discovering several clips among the hours of footage filmed, in which her dad is focusing his camera work on her mom and certain parts of her anatomy. "I had no clue he was also capturing footage meant for his eyes only... or so he thought," Brouk said. "The only reason I stumbled upon those clips is because I've been sorting through each tape to create compilations for each family member—Mom's turn being the most recent." While the focus of the coverage took her by surprise, Brouk has been able to assess it better as an adult than she likely would have if she had stumbled upon it growing up. "I likely would've been horrified if I happened upon that footage as a kid but now, especially as a wife and mom myself, thought it was hilarious and obviously had to share it with the world," she said. Brouk shared several clips to Instagram under the handle @motherknowswest_ where they quickly garnered attention, amassing more than 60,000 views since being posted at the end of May. "I think my parents might've cuddled more than three times," she captioned the clip. Brouk's mom and dad have had contrasting reactions to their viral fame. "When I told my Mom, she asked, 'How many people have seen my butt?!?' and my Dad just laughed, not at all ashamed of his actions," she said. Though Brouk posted the footage poking fun at the less than "wholesome" nature of what was being filmed, the reaction in some quarters has been heartwarming. "A lot of people have expressed they wish their own parents were that in love," she said. "I'm beyond blessed to have parents that have but laughed and prayed together, and also embarrassed each other, for 40 years this November!" So while it might have caught her by surprise to uncover evidence of her dad ogling her mom, she's all for it. "I recognize how rare longevity in relationships is these days and in some weird way, I'm very glad to have evidence of their love and lust forever," she said.

Dog Who Only Knew 'Loving Home' Ends Up in Shelter Aged 12, Heartbroken
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Animal lovers responded in a massive way to a senior dog who had entered a rescue shelter through no fault of his own—and thanks to this enormous reaction, he has now found a loving new family. Rescue organization Many Tears Rescue shared a heartbreaking post to their Instagram account @manytearsrescue in May, showing photographs of an older dog who they said was 12 years old, had lost most of his sight and hearing, and had just come into their care. They asked followers to imagine "spending your whole life in a warm and loving home, only to find yourself getting surrendered" in your old age—and a staff member told Newsweek that their appeal for Zebadee led to him dozens of adoption applications. "This is the reality for our poor boy Zebadee," they wrote in the post. "He did nothing wrong and neither did his beloved owner—she was just 92 years old and could no longer give him the care he needed." Zebadee, who was given up to a shelter aged 12 in heartbreaking circumstances. Zebadee, who was given up to a shelter aged 12 in heartbreaking circumstances. Instagram @manytearsrescue They shared their plea to find Zebadee "the most perfect retirement home, where he can go back to being absolutely cherished and doted on." Admitting the old dog is "breaking all of our hearts," they described walking past his kennel as "truly soul destroying." "No dog deserves to live at a rescue, but for one that is 12 years old and has only ever known a home and love, it really is the worst possible place." Instagram users flooded the post with love, awarding it more than 12,500 likes, as one commenter called him a "beautiful boy", and another despaired: "Poor confused boy and heartbreaking for his owner who couldn't manage caring for her companion." "He deserves the best. What a sweetie pie, very heartbreaking to give up your fur baby," another wrote, as another agreed: "Gorgeous boy. His owner must have been absolutely devastated to let him go." And as another put it: "How desperately sad for both of them. Very courageous of his elderly owner to part with him to ensure he was delivered into caring and loving hands." The senior dog in photos taken at Many Tears Animal Rescue. The senior dog in photos taken at Many Tears Animal Rescue. Instagram @manytearsrescue Alongside photos of Zebadee receiving cuddles, curled up for a nap, and smiling at the camera, Many Tears Rescue said the old dog "doesn't ask for a lot, so please don't keep him waiting here for long." And the shelter—and Zebadee—got their wish, as just days later, the senior dog was adopted. A Many Tears spokesperson told Newsweek: "He got reserved the very next day after the post, so yes, it worked instantly! "He received over 30 applications from the post alone." And while they haven't heard from his new owners about how Zebadee is settling in, as they described it, "no news is good news. "We can always assume they're doing very well unless we hear otherwise—we tend not to contact owners unless necessary after they adopt." While it was a happy ending for Zebadee, many dogs closer to home aren't so lucky. In the US, millions of dogs enter shelters each year. In 2024, 5.8 million dogs and cats were admitted to shelters and rescues, while 4.2 million animals were adopted, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
