Fan group wants money back after event organiser refuses to comply with tribunal's refund decision
The group, led by a woman who goes by Saza, said that the event was originally due to be held on July 27, 2024, but had its venue changed before ultimately being cancelled.
"We were told that the refund process would begin in August and be fully completed by December. However, we have yet to get any refunds at all.
"In the meantime, the event organiser has continued to conduct events with at least three that we know off since the cancellation of this one," she said.
MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong, who organised the press conference for the group, said that several members had brought the matter to the Consumer Claims Tribunal and that they had received the decision to claim their refunds.
He added that the group had collectively lost around RM20,000 from the unfulfilled tickets.
However, efforts to serve the letter to the company have been unsuccessful, with the group claiming that their premise had been vacated.
"We will give them a week to respond to us. I hope they will come so we can solve this matter without requiring a civil suit.
"If they fail to do so then we will need to move on to the second step and we will cross that bridge if we are forced to," he said.

IPOH: The High Court here acquitted and discharged two former Perak Immigration officers on charges of soliciting and receiving bribes. Indra Nehru sentenced the two men to three years in prison and a fine of RM50,000, and another 10 months in prison if they failed to pay the fine, for the offence of soliciting a bribe of RM10,000 every month so that no inspection would be carried out at an entertainment centre in Manjung. They were also sentenced to three years in prison and a fine of RM35,000, in default eight months in jail, each, for two offences of receiving a bribe of RM7,000. Zulhairin and Zaidi were allowed a stay of the execution of their prison sentences pending their appeals at the High Court. The two men were jointly charged with soliciting a bribe of RM10,000 per month from Nga Chee Jiek, as an inducement to ensure that no inspection and raid were carried out on an entertainment centre in Pusat Bandar Seri Manjung. The offence was allegedly committed at the Club House Meru Valley Golf & Country Club here at 9pm on Nov 5, 2015. Palestinian kidnap case: Victim found bound with cable ties in Hulu Langat
KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court heard today that a Palestinian man was found with his hands and feet bound using cable ties during a police raid in Hulu Langat nearly three years ago. ASP Mohamad Jazlan Sharif, now with the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters, testified about the September 29, 2022 operation. He stated that two suspects fled the chalet room but were apprehended after a brief struggle. Inside the room, officers discovered the victim restrained and immediately freed him. The victim's identification confirmed he was a Palestinian national. Eight individuals are on trial for the kidnapping, including Tengku Arif Bongsu Tengku Hamid and Mohamad Naziree Mustapha. Police also raided an adjacent room, finding three more suspects and 36 cable ties in a plastic bag. The operation followed the earlier arrest of Mohamad Norakmal Hassan, linked to the same case. Six others previously pleaded guilty and received five-year jail sentences for abducting the victim. The current trial involves charges under the Kidnapping Act 1961, carrying 30 to 40 years' imprisonment if convicted. Three accused face additional money laundering charges involving over RM250,000.
