‘What could I have done more?': Jacqueline Fernandez says she hasn't come to terms with her mom's death
Talking about it, Jacqueline told The Hollywood Reporter that she feels lucky to be by her mother's side during her last few months. 'I was lucky that I was able to spend the last few months with her. I always feel I wish I did more. What could I have done more? It takes a lot of time to come to terms with it. I don't think I have still come to terms with it. I look at it as probably what she would have wanted. She was always my biggest cheerleader. We come from a simple household where it was absurd to say you wanted to go into acting. I was so scared to tell them. I had this dream since 7 or 8, but I gained the courage to tell them only when I was 18-19. And there was no hesitation,' she said.
Jacqueline, who made her Hollywood debut with Kill 'Em All 2, recalled her film shoot experience, 'I just couldn't believe. I was doing lines with him (Jean-Claude Van Damme), working with him. He was my icon. I think my entire family. We had this laser disc. My dad was hellbent that if we have to watch Jean Claude, we have to watch him on a laser disc. And cut to, I am on a set with him in Italy. We helped each other with lines. My parents came down and they were like, 'We love our daughter. She made us proud.' Life came full circle. At moments like this you feel it was all worth it–the struggle, the challenges, everything.'
Jacqueline, who landed in a massive controversy after her name popped up in conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar's money laundering case, added, 'What we go through as an actors in the industry, our parents also go through it. Everything, it's out there. It takes so much for parents to still support you through everything. My mother was always proud of me and she would always want me to keep striving and dreaming.'
Jacqueline recently attended the Cannes Film Festival 2025 at the French Riviera on day 3.

James Gunn shared that he has already completed the story treatment for the next chapter, which he calls the Superman Saga. Peacemaker Season 2, featuring John Cena, is all set to arrive on August 21. During its recent premiere event, James Gunn revealed how the show will link future DC Universe (DCU) projects, including the next Superman movie. The filmmaker shared that he has already completed the story 'treatment" for the next chapter, which he calls the 'Superman Saga." While an official release date for the project isn't confirmed yet, Gunn mentioned that production is expected to begin soon. In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, the DC boss said, 'I've already finished the treatment for the next story in what I'll call the Superman Saga. The treatment is done, which means a very, very worked out treatment. I'm working on that and hopefully going into production on that not too far away from today." James Gunn reveals he's already been working on the #Superman saga, and hopes to begin production soon — The Hollywood Reporter (@THR) August 13, 2025 How Peacemaker Season 2 Connects Upcoming DC Universe: James Gunn also revealed that Peacemaker Season 2 will play a key role in connecting future stories. According to the filmmaker, 'It's a big part, definitely Superman leads directly into Peacemaker. It should be noted that this is for adults, not for children, but Superman leads into this show and then we have the setting up of all of the rest of the DCU in this season of Peacemaker. It's incredibly important." Gunn explained that John Cena's series will feature many old characters and guest stars, including those who have already appeared in the Superman movie. He said this season is his favourite work and he is very excited for fans to watch it. Cena added that the new season continues the story rather than being a new show. The season will follow the 11th Street Kids on their next adventure while also moving the other DCU storyline forward. Several big projects in DCU are lined up for the coming years. Supergirl and Clayface are set to release in 2026, followed by a new Wonder Woman movie. The Batman 2, part of Matt Reeves' Batman Epic Crime Saga, is expected to come out in 2027, while The Brave and the Bold will introduce a new version of Batman into the DCU. The Penguin Season 2 is planned, Peacemaker Season 2 will arrive soon and a Lanterns series is scheduled for 2026. All of these movies and shows are part of Gods & Monsters.
